Whats up with the ecto price dropping 500g? (9.5 to 9) There were several people saying that the price of ecto is going to skyrocket because of the solo monk being slightly nerfed.

Exactly. The invincimonk build was made more on par with other builds, but farming as a whole wasn't stopped. Nor was the intention ever to stop farming completely.

True - the cookie cutter Invinci-monk web build is apparently now nerfed, but that doen't stop the possibility that monks can still solo UW with just a little thought and a little tweak here and there, and to be honest, if they can do that, then all power to them. (Just whatever they do, please don't publish your build on the forums, cos it will only get nerfed, encourage whingers, and produce more and more copycat UW farmers)
As for the price of Ectos, well it fluctuates just like any other commodity, right? Your choice whether you want to sell now, or hold on just in case the price does change again.

As far as I know, they also upped the drops in UW and Fissure. At least that's what I encountered in Fissure yesterday - our group had about 20 shards drop in 2 hours. Nearly every member got 2 shards, some even three. I'd guess it is the same with Ectos, they drop more often after the update.

More ectos? Woohoo. Time to stop PvP and go back to farming. Not because I want dirty fissure armor (when collector armor can be sexier), but because I can't hold 3 million gold. As far as ecto going down? Prices like 9k or 9.5k are definately controlled and rounded. I can almost guarantee that. The fact that Ecto is sometimes cheaper than black dye? Disturbing.

After being thoroughly disgusted at people saying, "it wasn't meant to be solo'd!" and telling other people what they should be doing in game. I went ahead and bought the armor/runes for my monk so I can solo the UW now. It's fun, I will do my part to bring down the price of ectos as much as possible, in fact I'll be selling all the ecto's for 500 gold less than the merchant will buy them and I hope everyone else will too...

I have a UW Solo Ranger Build...I will not post the build information until ArenaNet goes on record in regards to whether or not they plan on nerfing all solo builds...I will however post screenshots at a later date(when I get a chance to take some )

The nerf hasn't stopped farming... it stopped the protective bond build farming. Monks are still happily bringing in as many ectos as they were before, so the price hasn't changed.

Where do you get this idea from? I think you are wrong..
The patch update notes said nothing about capped prices upwards or downwards. The game should not interpret ecto as any different from a vial of ink or any other rare material.. People just assumed there was a cap because prices change much slower now... I think it would be hard to see it go below 9k because of the demand.. not because of any code in the game..

I have played in uw as a group and solo since pvp extreme. And I can verify that the drop rate has increased ONLY with groups. I did 5 solo runs (killing the bulls, and dying at grasps grrrr), and came up with only one ecto. But as a group, the drop was better.
For fow, the shard drop rate has been noticeably better post pvp extreme. I only go in groups, and I find that it's not usual to see a shard drop before reaching the tower.

Dunno, maybe you over solo farmed UW. Remember there is still the decrease in drops for over farming :P Or maybe it is all luck... boy I am very lucky.
