Thoughts on SUMMER UPDATE release date

For these new missions/areas to be fixed where they can't be soloed the mobs need to come in groups of 8 just like players and at least one of each class part of those groups. That will take care of any soloers/farmers of those missions/areas from now on. Disenchanters, slowers, knockdown, distracting shots, degen, that should be enough to stop any soloing/farming/botting.

I live in Arizona, anytime between April and october is summer at 80+ degrees...

Now from personal experience, I can tell you that the warmest part of the year is the last half of June to the first half of September. IOW, June 22 - Sept 22, give or take a day or 3.

i think that ANet wuz smart by releasin summer update now. it let pple play,lvl and beat game in the oringal settin before it wuz expanded. it also let pple who r kinda new et experienced in the game. i like the way ANEt went about the update. i can't wait 4 it 2 come out cuz i wanna explore and loot place that r new

I purchased Guild Wars in July and have just finished the PvE section with my first character - so the new build will be great. But I also want to start a new one, so I don't mind.

So many companies have released updates for the wrong reasons, when they weren't ready. It remains to be seen how good the update will be, but I am sure it will be better than if they rushed to release it a few weeks ago. Plus I was under the impression there would only be one new area - now there are two.

Because this update will give a real privilege to ascended characters, rather than just access to the u/w, etc. With luck *touch wood* this will help make GW even better before the release of Chapter 2 next year.

Alex WQeekes (NCSoft) made great pains to say the first retail expansion (chapter 2) would be FIRST HALF of 06 NOT first quarter and especially not first part of first quarter (january)

They have said there will very likely be new races in the next Chapter which will be out next year, but not with the free update as far as I know.

It nice that Anet is coming out with a "free" update so soon. Gives me plenty of material until chapter 2 comes out. I have just ascended my first character and I've been playing since release (I'm a casual gamer). I do have 3 other characters that still have a ways to go. Good stuff.

For those people who do consider the start of September to be Autumn then why are you so bothered that the 'summer' update is only a week later than they said. It could have been postponed til Winter and everybody would probably still wait on tenterhooks for it!

I heard they plan to release it a 8 pm EST, which means for certain people, especially europe it wont actually be the 7'th.. it will be on the 8'th! some silly time in the morning of thursday, like 1am at the least. for most people this is as good as the next day.

To answer the OP
1) I'd never expect a FREE update with NEW AREAS. So no it's not too late, and it will never be.
2) I'd like a bug-free (or close to bug-free) release rather than a rushed one.
3) It doesn't bother me.

There are only three main continents, to satisfy
Why not release at 8:00am EST / 1:00pm GMT / 10:00pm UTC? Or as near to that time frame as possible.
That way Europe & Korea at least get a look at sorrows furnace/grenths footprint before the 8th. (no lack of sleep required.)
This would be better for the majority!.. whereas an 8pm EST only serves americans.. yea I understand they are american based and they have the right, still its very biased and a little unfair.

To stay on topic with the original post, im not at all bothered with the release, they said summer it comes out near end summer, nothing wrong with that, they kept their end of the bargain, however i really do hope it does not turn out like Diablo 2... i remmber it took them 2 years to finaly release 1.10, pretty sad, VERY bad consideration to their customers, and umm for those of you that are wondering, wtf is this retard talking about? daiblo 2 has nothing to do with GW, on the contrary, when diablo 2 was out Bill Roper and many of the other top people of Blizzard left and joined another company, you can fill in which one , so ya as long as they keep customer satisfaction with new and rich content every now and then its cool, i was really looking forward for there to be more things to do in GW, but really... what can i expect? its a free MMO, (if you can call it massive since you cant actualy interact with everyone at once)
all in all, so far its ok just more content was expected at release
to go off topic a bit, i would love to see some sort of mini game in this, someone mentioned a card game in the game, which seems pretty interesting, i would like to see that just as an extra feature not that i am a big fan of card games

Its just the timing.. they can dictate whatever time they want to upload it to the servers in a global instant.. this is the 'new technology' they boast about.
At the risk of sounding petty, its looks like they have chosen a time that is less globally convenient and more American biased, bizzare considering their claims to the contrary.
