Since they said skills and skill points will be easier to obtain, but skills from trainers will be more expensive, I assume that means more skills will be available through quests and such.

I suppose it also makes sense as an additional gold sink.

Oh no! This is bad news for me! Real bad!
Because my personal goal is to learn all the 450 skills for my first and primary character
Oh no! Must farm for exp and gold!

Not sure what the hell they mean by that, since skill trainers is where I get the majority of my skills from, and they're starting to get a bit more rediculously more expensive to grab now.
At least this COULD cut down on all those -skills- that keep popping up in Ascalon Area...

I wonder if this is going to apply to Signets of Capture as well, or just to regular purchased skills.

Yay, now PvPers will be required to grind for gold AND skill points!
Soul Shaker
Well, people want skill points, cos they're hard to get. The gold...big woop. Most people are so rich 1k for a skill is like Bill Gates dropping $100.....worthless.

I'm with Soul Shaker, though, even without farming in months, I have plenty of gold that I don't get much practical use out of because I don't care for any of Guild Wars' money sinks, nor do I bother with "godly" prestige weapons that people who charge absurd amounts of Gold for.
Soul Shaker
At least get 15k armour. It's a money sink that's reasonable. FoW armour is just plain ugly and with the material costs a waste of time. (especially warrior stuff), but that's just my opinion.
Xanatos786
I agree...I got 15K pyro and have no intention of wasting time trying to get FoW because in my opinion the 15K looks nicer anyway...
Puddin Tame
I am so god damn POOR.
Soul Shaker
People are so worked up about perfect and max stuff that if you wanted to buy something even 1 below max, you'd get it for half the price of a perfect.
TideSwayer
Honestly, I never really had a hard time gaining skills or skill points. Not that hard if you do UW or FoW runs or even help out with some late-game skillcap groups. I honestly can't wait to see how they plan on making these 'skill gaining' abilities more accessible in this update because for the life of me, I don't see what they are going to do. Making the cost of skills more expensive doesn't really equate (in my eyes, anyways) to making skills more obtainable.
What people need in PvE is an easier time unlocking runes. I've been through the game almost 4 times now (PvE quest) and I've only unlocked HALF of the runes in this game. And most of those unlocks came from me taking a solo smiter monk up to the Ettin Giants and running back and forth farming for them. IMO unlocking runes is a pain in the butt in PvE. It's actually to the point of being pathetically ridiculous. Why must all runes you get from drops have to be attached to armor? That limits the amount of creatures that drop runes for players to unlock in PvE.
There are creatures of ALL professions running around the world. Surely ANet can't just make some of these random monsters drop simple unID'ed runes?? (Minor, Major, Superior drops based on creature level or something). It's perfectly feasible to think some of these monsters could be carrying unID'ed runes for their monster buddies. If a stupid bull can drop a bow and arrow why can't they drop a damn unID'ed rune once in a while?!
Make no mistake though. Greatly looking forward to the update.

quote from update "skills and skill points will be easier to acquire"
I take that as meaning more skill quests and the new areas will give more exp ^^
you guys should be more optimistic about the game
I will try to go around and grab those last 2 secondaries for my monk and those (maybe sucky) skills only available from trainers before the update. I got 50+ odd skill points and I have this odd and possibly impossible desire to unlock every skill on my monk/x. I think SoC cost me 250~ and skills from trainers 500~. I hope the increase isn't more than 50%. Imagine if I unlocked more and 4 expansions later there are thousands of skills.. it is gonna cost like 4 plat for one skill -.-

I don't like the looks of this :/
I can imagine the Capture Signet will no longer cost skillpoints and you've got to run around praying for a boss that has your normal skill. Oh noes, i'm allready fed up on elite hunting at places like Ring of Fire of Mineral Springs where you sometimes have to restart it like 40 times just because the wrong boss is in that spot -.-
Just a feeling, but a bad one...

More expensive? Skills are already costing my warrior a platinum and a half each. So much for my dream of unlocking everything one character (maybe).

I take it they mean easier to aquire if I take another character through the sorely lacking PvE side..??
From normal PvE play I've now got unlocked ( bar elites ):
- Warrior
- Monk
- About 50% of Elementalist
- About 20% of Necro
I'm just glad I made a "super monk" -- the skill points I've earnt with that thing have been essential. Through skill point farming, I've unlocked ( bar elites ):
- Mesmer
- About 50% of Ranger
- Additional 50% of Necro
You can see the rather large task at hand. After hundreds of hours across 3 months -- Ranger still needs to be completed as does Necro and Elementalist -- I'll then have to capture the elites for each class...
I couldn't care less about Ectoplasm from the UW -- although it sounds like I'll need it -- if the price on skills is getting bumped up. I certainly don't care about travelling from A --> B or killing Monster Spawn xxxxx just to learn skills through questing....
Unless the gold drops are seriously bumped up in the unrewarding PvE side -- I can see this change backfiring...
Age
I am wondering though if you will be able to buy elites as in useing your skill points to buy skills in the first place.Maybe they will abondon haveing to capture them from bosses instead buying them from a skill trainer as to the cost.Where is Gaile when you need her?
TideSwayer
If bought skills are going to be made more expensive (at least more expensive enough that ANet has actually warned us to take heed ASAP), isn't this going to prohibit secondary profession changes?

Bad news for me, What i'll do ?
i've 3million exp with my primary char , 2 complete profession (skills), half skills of others professions and ~90 unspent skill points...but every skill new cost me a lot more than 1k each and i don't want to spend 200k on skills O_O

yes and i just bought 30 signet
considering i can use them for normal skills and , i think, is the smartest thing to do now if you don't have time (you don't lose any, even if the price remain unchanged after the patch)

Personally, I like what this message implies. I've got no shortage of gold, it's skill points I want. I've already been essentially trading gold for skill points in the form of UW/FoW runs and XP scrolls, so if they can come up with even faster/better ways of doing so I'm all for it.

Crimson_1190
most of my skills i got through quests...i think with my ranger, i bought about 3-4 thus far...my warrior was about the same...it really changes little, i still have over 20-30 skill points on each that i have not used...oh well, i doubt this will really change too much
nohooiam
this is just retarded... i remade a healing monk to cap elites for pvp and now i have to make money to buy signet of captures?

I don't like it. Just encourages farming, which I don't do. I guess I'll be saying hello to Rastigan a bit more often now...

Non-elites do cost that much. I just unlocked all my primary/secondary skills (doing ALL the skill quests btw), and its costing me around slightly above 800g for the next skill. If they raise it, I'd hate to think how much I'd have to farm to buy the skills.
