If they are going to add more skill quests for PvE characters I am going to go on a rampage.
Other than that, I like the idea, maybe I will not have to spend 2-3 plat in scrolls for each skill point. Then I will still be ahead as long as my skills don't get into the 2-3 plat range each. I too, am trying to unlock 450 skills with one character, mainly because he can farm skill points.

For those who are unaware of this:
The prices for skills increases each time you buy one.
For example:
Bought 1st skill : 50 gold
Bought 2nd skill: 60 gold
Bought 3rd skill: 70 gold
...
Bought 100th skill: 1,000+ gold

I wonder how skill points will be made easier to acquire. Less XP to "level" up? Rewarded for completing co-op bonuses? (An incentive to do the bonuses.)
Sounds like an improvement, though. Gold is easier to come by than skill points (easier to farm than XP), and gold is transferable between characters. (Which means you can continue unlocking skills for your characters you don't play as often.)
Bottom line: skills need to be easier to acquire. Players shouldn't be faced with this dilemma: "Will this skill I buy now prohibit me from buying a skill that is available later in the game?" The current system demands too much foresight from players, puts a stranglehold on experimentation.

Well, after buying 40 more signets of capture, just in case, and having plenty more skill points left, I'm still wondering if I should blow the rest of them or not.
Giving us a few days to spend skill points was a good idea, but not giving us any idea about the magnitude of the change is slightly more than aggravating.
I thought the *current* system was backwards enough -- a static system for PvP unlocks, but an ever-increasing system for PvE? And please don't think I'm advocating a more difficult PvP unlock system -- I'm not, I think faction is horribly difficult to aquire based on the current unlock numbers -- but I do wish they'd improve the parity between the two systems. *Two* stupid and gimped unlock systems is *not* what this game needs.
It seems as though the only PvE changes we're seeing are forcing us to grind more rather than enjoy gameplay. I've already had to give up on PvE for unlocking weapons upgrades and runes. Skills were the only area left for me. Forcing me to now play the game (and by "play the game" I don't actually mean "play the game," but rather "farm gold") 40 hours a week to unlock skills is only going to urge me to leave sooner, free game or not.

It would really be nice if you could unlock PVE skills while unlocking a skill for PVP char. You do use your PVE char. in PVP as well so why can't they skills as well. You can all so use your PVE char. at the HoH.

Wow... so many people jumping to conclusions and running around screaming "the sky is falling, the sky is falling".
The update says it plainly enough if you take the time to read it thoroughly. Skill points and SKILLS will be MUCH easier to attain. PAYING for skills will be made more expensive. So read it the right way. Obviously, they don't want to discourage second profession changing; which means that if skills are easier to attain, at least all of the baseline skills (non-elite) have to be made available through some other venue (quests perhaps).
The only person I see this harming is the person who creates a character and does none of the quests, but only buys skills. Personally, I don't see what the big deal is, but this update sounds great to me already.

Oh boy, just spent 2 platinum on a signet of capture. Maybe I should hold off for a while.
One and Two
2 plat on one sig? wow... anyway, solo farm mango hydras, titans, drakes, minos, griffons, shadows, aataxes or whatever, and aggro everything. when they're low on health, activate scroll.
edit: i think one of the scrolls depends on consecutive kills to keep it going. Then, use the Undead Hordes quest.

If were talking about bowing before anyones presence, bow before me.
38-54% of a skill point per 2-3 minute run, AND with my method a friend has gotten 67%.
Write that down.

As you can see from the link above, on september 7th they will also be changing the skill aquisition. They state that skill points will be easier to come by, but that the actual skills will cost more. What this really is, is a gold sink. Hopefully this will strengthen the economy even more, ( I applaude anet for the job they've done thus far)
P.S. I would advise taking anets advice and use all your skill points before wednesday. Usually taking the devs advice results in a good thing

Just let it accrue.. the post it on the forums and be like "HAHAHA PWNT"
I like the idea of skill point acquisition being easier.. my quest for skill dominance and having them all unlocked may be now within reach.

Just a notice in case of confusion that gwnewbie's thread has been merged with Network's thread.
Tactical-Dillusions
Maybe the nw update will have high XP quests like UW and FoW.
Perhaps they may again reduce the XP required for a skill point.
Maybe they give unlocked skills and items as quest rewards.
Can't wait for the update. I have a good feeling about this one.

well I could talk about how I could get 6552xp per run; but my man issuse is why are the signets of capture's costing more than my reg skills? after i got a few skill points racked up and baoght the rest of the Monk class skills it puzzled me to see capture of signet higher than a regualr skill... did they up it this morning or sumthing? if sig only goes up 5 and it still goes up 5 when i buy a reg skill and visversa but 10g each per reg skill; why do they cost 400g more?
anyone else notice this?

Deviance, did you buy a big stack of cap sigs? The price adds up fast when you buy 30 or more at a time.
One and Two
signets and skills go up seperately. i just bought a lifetime supply of cap-sigs. lol. mainly "just in case", cus i usually dont buy skills.
