I assume you are referring to this:

On the eastern slopes of Lornar's Pass, north of Camp Rankor rests the deep, slag-strewn expanse of Grenth's Footprint. Once a sacred place for the dwarves of Deldrimor, the peak itself has been completely dismantled, and the land torn open to get at the precious metals beneath the soil. The Stone Summit have dug deep into the Shiverpeak Mountains. Underneath the stripped, barren land, are the all-but-depleted mining shafts of Sorrow's Furnace.

Time for more vast treks into the snow, although instead of being fuelled by desire for rare items and elite skills, it is exploration that compels us to go forward into the mists.

that there are 30-40 difficult quests in the update not even counting those dealing with Titans and other zones.

hmm ? perhaps quests for those who finished the game to go kick some Titans butt's who escaped (wouldnt want em going round killing everything you fought for to protect now would you ?

I can see it now, trade channels being flooded with, "WTS keys! Only 50k!"

I can't wait for the update, it looks like it will be fun.

I SOOOO want a quest where a titan rushes into ascalon and your newbie party of 4 is supposed to stop it. But please, PLEASE... give us some way to observe this little slaughter, lol

(yeah i'm one of those players that love to lure insanely powerful mobs into newbie towns to watch the fun)

I didn't mean strictly just exploring, just anything and everything in general you can find in most areas.

When I saw them mention keys for treasure chests in that area...this is the first thing I thought of. How rare will they be? How many can one accumulate? Can you buy them from a Merchant or Collector? WIll they have a value to them?
I guess these things will be answered when the update is released.

The keys sounds good, but I agree with Jaythen, how available will they be? Hopefully it's something that can be purchased from a merchant and is a "common" loot drop

Key drops, as common as ecto and shard drops.

I don't mean to sound like I am bashing the keys, I really think it's a good idea, and a chest should require a key to open in any case, I am just curious on 1) Drop rate and 2) value. Though drop rate and value will work hand in hand.

If chests give nothing but valuable items or useful items, then buying them at the merchant would mean a large price.

Another intersting idea, would the keys be specific to an area? For example, would you be able to open chests in Shiverpeaks, with keys from Ascalon? Or would keys be tied to certain parts of the map? Like, you'd get a message when trying open a chest, "Requires Lvl 18 key or higher to open.". So monsters in Ring of Fire might drop level 20 keys, and you'd be able to open any chest level 20 or below.

I think the keys idea is great too and should really cut down on the bot farmers! However I don't want something with the same drop rates as ecto and shards...I'll never get one! I'd pay 1k for a key from a merchant because what I'd get from the chest could make that back plus some

Ya, nice, SF on IGN already. Are IGN Anet's main customers? No. Why give them access to the update first? Dumb. Anet just keeps proving how little they know about gaming. The few people that are left playing the game got a little excited about the update. Instead of giving it to them lets sell it to a commercial company and let them spoil it, even before Guild Wars customers (the money payers, the bosses!!!) get to even have a look. Thanks Anet. much appreciated again. You nerf the economy, you nerf the fun, you nerf everything. Why create a great game and then spend all your time trying to ruin it???? Its beyond me. Oh well. Night Night. Hope IGN had fun.

In fact, I really can hardly be RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOed with this game anymore.

oh and irongate: i couldn't care less what you think. everything anet have done has been beneficial in the long run IMO. and games and updates are ALWAYS previewed first by sites like IGN so not sure what you are trying to suggest...

and if you are partying with 8 people, and 1 of them gets a key, does the chest drop something for everyone? that would only make sense!

Are the quests repetable like UW/FoW? Or are they like normal quests that you only do once? I am asking because there are aLOT of new quests and the IGN article made it sound like you needed to do most of them before you could get to the final boss fight. Well...I only have about 3hrs a day I can play and so I know there is no way I can crank through 30+ quests in that time period, considering how hard this is supposed to be....so I am hoping I can work on it for a few nights and slowly get closer to the final fight!

Btw, I have a Monk or an Ele looking for adventures tonite!

The article suggests keys as drops and "expensive" buys - presumably from a merch. Woohoo! Neat! Let's hope not too expensive.
