I love the game, it has alot of potential and whatnot.
However, I don't think I have ever played a MMO that was lacking helpfull and courteous ppl as much as GW does.
Everytime I ask a question I can count on NOT getting an answer; I send ppl tells just so I can be ignored...

I'm getting really frustrated about this and wanted to see if other ppl had this problem as well, or am I jus having a bad "In Game Day"

Oh, and on a sidenote, what is up with no1 wanting to join a Guild that has only a few members yet, but it's almost impossible to get new members for that exact reason

Sorry for the rant, jus needed to get it out

Could be very likely that the people you are asking do not know that question or simply do not speak/read english. Many people that may know the answer to your question would be in Yak's Bend or Lion's Arch already.

The majority of experienced players is already very far into the missions or playing in the Tombs - the rest of the people probaply wouldn't even know the answers to your questions, so there's no point in replying for them.
I've personally only had a handful of questions and have managed to find the answers to them littered over the various forums.

bear in mind that how much there are traffic for local chat and maybe from their guildchat and including possibility of all those multible trade channel spam, they maybe dont hear you or if they are concentrating to other things

most of what i met in guildwars so far was very friendly and always help if they can.

One thing that I've noticed is the silent majority in this game. I don't bother teaming up with people now for all but the toughest missions, since I might as well just play with henchmen.

Its true what everyone has said. It's just that a lot of people just don't know the answers to your question even when you whisper them. In a couple of months people will know what to do and where everything is. And just like the others have said, the more experienced players are in Yak's Bend or Lions Arch (I haven't even been there yet though, heh).

Although I do try to help people the best I can.

Same here. A lot of people ignore town chat, and most town chat is not worth reading anyway. I do, however, find that if you ask a question of people in your group in party chat you will get more of a response, even if it is usually "I don't know."

I try my best to answer when I can. if i see a question I will stop and answer it, however, I have found that not many people answered me when I first started. I think in the later cities people will be able to answer more readily, in pre-searing i belive many people don't really know

Have you ever played runescape? Thats 100 times worse .

This game is a week old... It will get worse and better at the same time. Once more and more people come to the stores and see the game on the shelves, they will buy it. Some of those people will be total Idiots.. Some will be more into the community and make it nicer.

I've found some brilliant people in this game... unfortunately for every 1 great gamer, there are 3 or 4 of those 'special' people... you know, that kind that:

Yell at you for 'sucking' because the quest is failing
Leave because 'its too hard' even though they're the highest level
Run on ahead then get slaughtered coz they're alone
Fail to realise teamwork is the only way to be successful
Have a go at you for being in a certain guild
Have a go at you to feel cool

Seems the *only* bad thing about no monthly fee is that a lot of the 'kids' (dont get me wrong, i know adults can be just as immature and vice versa) can now play whereas before they'd have been told no, coz its too expensive.

That's exactly why I ignore chat in town.

It is actually painful to try and follow town chat most of the time.

I listen to the chat in town, and I have to say I've seen people being very friendly and helpful.
Of course, the majority of people ignore the chat most of the time, but I haven't seen anyone really being abusive in it.

And as I said once during a moment of insight while playing Eve, "The ultimate problem with having only one server is that all the jerks will always be on yours"

On the flipside, the neighbours' grass isn't greener, not when you have no neighbours.

I actually found that after a few questions I usually get my answer, just so long as the question is clear, and offers an easy yes or no answer.

also, I try to help people with their questions if I know the answer.. but like anygame if the ask is childish, spaming or too many caps lock, then I wouldnt respond at all.

So, while I sympathise with ppl finding it hard I aint about to declare it a crying shame.. you have the internet, use it.. you can be assured than anyone who does know the answer has probably spent some time finding it out... if they have, so can anyone. and if noone knows the answer.. then, well.. thats why noone is helping

One thing that really gets me tick off is people who scribble on the map during missions and noone can see where they are going or where to go because a bunch of swears and "ur mom is hot" written all over the map to the point of only seeing white because some kid colored the map in!!

And they don't even fess up to it! AHH!
And theres nothing you can do about it beside leave the mission.

Ha that's crazy 4 of those six happened to me today, in a single group. I've been lucky so far only ran into a few jerks, hopefully once I get to the higher lvls things will be better.

Maybe i suggest becoming a part of a larger guild? lots of people like to have guilds filled with either friends/people who they've thought are good at playing.

On my side note, i personaly have the all chat off, i only listen to party/guild myself, send me a "tell" and ill reply most of the time. It normaly depends on where you're asking this question tho, just as someone already stated i see.

Many ppl helped me out so I'm doing my best to help out others aswell!

nothing can be as bad as the wow community. I remember i met maybe two people i didn't already know in RL that were actually helpfull. You'd ask a question in general chat and everyone turned into a comedian..
hopefully this one won't get too bad.

I also tend to ignore town chat enless I see a name I know or a guild mem. The best way to find the answers to your questions is to post them on a froum or ask you guild-mates. Also I recrute from our website NOT IN game. The best way to get good members it to send them to your site to fill out an app. That way you can find out a little about the person before you invite them.

I heard you yesterday in town complaining about know one wanting to help. Fact of the matter is, I help AS often as I can. If it is convient for me, I will do whatever you need. Group to complete a quest? sure. Directions? Sure. Just chill out. There are now as many as 173 districts. Someone will help you out.

But the game is fairly simple IMO. Just read the quest and follow the green arrow on the map.

Wow, I've never experienced that. But I have been in since the Beta. During presearing I stayed around a helped out new players.

In Post Searing, I still go back to Ascalon City to help out new players on thier quests and help explain things. That's how people treated me when I first started, thats how I treat others.

Sorry you experienced this. I think the other poster is right. Most people who were in beta or preordered are in a totaly different part of the map now and only have contact with players of similar levels. in the futher reaches of the map. They don't have need to return to ascalon city.

I'd be hapy to hook up sometime to help you on quests:

I've dealt with my fair share of "problem children" as well.

Here are my main gripes:
(1) People not using called targets. Everyone haphazardly attacking anything in the group. The order is healers, bosses, casters people!
(2) Group members running ahead of the leader, and the rest of the group following them! I often start up groups and am in the leader position, and being a monk primary healer if someone strays from me it's occasionally to their ultimate undoing. I definitely don't mind letting someone else lead, but there needs to be order.

I think it all comes down to a lack of gaming discipline and/or experience. People not knowing the importance of working as a unit, of playing their roles.

Given, these are pickup groups obviously, but honestly: most guilds are no better. These same people join guilds and this doesn't make them any better. Nor does it follow that people without a guild are utter lackwits.

Even realising the lack, I'd have to say that most people can get by without the skills that are required in a more demanding style of *ORPG (like a persistant MMORPG w/ heavy death penalties); the game just doesn't demand it.

Nice comments. I'm also a primary monk. I've been luck in my pick up teams. Everyone seems to know their role and play it perfectly. I stay back and heal. Secondary Mes I can use spells like Backslash to cause damage when the enemy uses energy.

You're right about having order. But there are times when you can just explore. But the same tactics apply.

Every MMO is full of idiots and jerks. This one has a fair number as well. If you want to play this type of game, there is nowhere to get away from that. I have played most of the major MMO titles and they all are full of nitwits.

You're going to get that in ANY community. No one is going to hold your hand the whole time.

I did play in the betas but it was mostly PVP. I just now reach Yak's bend for the first time and I'm loving the game. For the most part I haven't had any questions.

The best thing to do, instead of asking what most would consider a stupid question, is to hit "ALT + TAB" on your computer or minimize GW and go on to GuildWarsGurus.com and do a search for your question. I bet it's probably been answered about 10 times here.

That's exactly what I did with a few of my questions. I wish I had known not to select a secondary profession so early. =p
