Why Rank is hurting the community and why we should boycott groups that ask for it...

9. Anyone that says, ok I'll go an unlock that skill now - insta-kick
10. Anyone that says I'm only 10 fame from rank 6 - insta-kick (not because R6 is important, but cause they "think" it is important)
..And i just don't have time for that kind of thing so i call friends R6-9+ who i know can play well

I'm gonna have to laugh a little here. I do agree that there are very good players out there with no/low rank; several of my guildies and I were stuck in that position for a while. However, we paid our dues and now we all have a cute little emote and all that.

So, having slaved through the lower rank levels with a lot of IWAY and some very bad PUGging, why would I defend the rank system? Because it didn't stop me at all. In fact, it only encouraged me to grow and to keep trying. I wanted that emote, I wanted to be able to participate in snob groups, and I wanted the satisfaction of a clear indication of my own achievement. A lot of people I talk to say GW suxorz and I just smile and ask them what rank they were; the majority of them have no idea what that means, and it's clear they missed out on a large part of the fun. The rank system replaces the high level caps in the grind oriented games, and I for one like it the way it is.

Also, come on man, if you have rank 0~2, you are not a good Tombs player. You may be great in GvG, you may be great in Teams and Competition, but have you even seen a map past the Underworld? Do you know what the Hero is used for? Do you know anything about Orbs and Offerings and Altars? If I want to hold the Hall of Heroes, no offense, but I won't be taking a team full of sub-stags.

I have 20k faction from playing in CA and 9 fame (been to HoH once). I have fully unlocked Necro, Monk, Mesmer and Ele; Ranger almost done. Still can't find a group in Tombs...

if a good Tombs player means winning every map, sure a rank 0 wont have any idea on how to win one. (unless hes a veteran on new account)

but it doesnt take 4000+ fames to know how to win tomb maps. right?

Rank and fame might be a problem, but I think there's a bigger problem with 'assigned' roles in PvE

People coming into tombs for the first time want to join groups, but they're locked in the mindset of a certain build that they played throughout their entire PvE career. You'll see all these 'tanks', 'nukers', 'amazing water ele' people looking for groups. Nobody will take them since they're not FoTM or the current build they're running is too specific.

The end result - 4 hours of sitting around without a single response.

People need to learn to be flexible and change builds accordingly.. and that eliminates quite a few players starting for the first time out there. :\ So to get a group, the first thing is to say: "I can play X (list classes), I have Vent and TS!"

A simple rewording of a LFG statement can open up quite a few doors.

If everyone runs IWAY, why don't you build a counter to it? Chances are most of the time you're in it you'll fight IWAY and be able to own them. And yes, IWAY is everywhere, but they don't need to nerf it. It's relatively simple to beat it. Having Vent/TS also helps if you want a good organized team. (add it to your LFG)
