Two handed swords/axes & 1 handed blunt weapons
lyra_song
My suggestion:
Allow us to equip axes and swords with an option of making it two handed. I dont think its unreasonable to think that holding a sword or axe with two hands would increase attack strength at the cost of defensive strength and speed of strikes. I though it after staring at my character holding a huge axe with one hand. They could reuse the same animation from swinging the hammer also.
It would open up a possibilty for two-handed only versions of axes and swords like bastard swords, halberds and other pole axes, lochaber axes.
On the opposite end, i would like to see one handed maces and clubs and mauls. These would use hammer skills and have faster strikes, but at the cost of damage and less chance of knockdown to balance it out.
tellme what you guys think. ^.^

sounds interesting if its well balanced out i'd say why not ?

Increase attack speed, but probably strength goes down. Think about it. Dunno if you're ambidextrous, I am, and I think im relatively rare.

/signed. Have two handed swords and axes and 1 handed hammer.
Sword = fastest 2h, but least 2h damage
axe = mid 2h.
1h hammer, slowest 1h, faster than 2h sword.
There would not need to be any new skills or attributes. They could just use sword, axe, and hammer.

i would like to be able to dual wield swords/axes and other 1 handed weapons on my warrior so i can do more damage, even if it means having lower ac because i'm not using a shield.
i would also like to see 2 handed swords (Great Swords), 2 handed axes, maces etc

hammer skills deal less damage then swords and axes
compare, galrath slash, executioners strike and mighty blow
they are the high damage skills of their respective attribute
and mighty blow has -5 damage compared to them
hammer skills are made for two-handed hammers, axes skills are made for one-handed axes, sword skills are made for one-handed swords
if they would add two-handed and one-handed of each of them, they would have to rework ALL WARRIORS skills, and add varieties of exceptions if they would add the option to equip two weapons, and way more if you could equip one of each kind!
just think of the numbers... they would basically change the entire profession
now IF they add a new profession, with ambidextry as a primary, greatsword-manship (no idea for the name hehe), halberd mastery and mace mastery... NOW you would be able to have a character with all these combinations
just ask them and they will create it
its not like its a bad idea, just need a theme that matches with the class
and an oposite class for this new one

they wouldnt haveto rework the warrior skills if they could dual wield weapons. the skills would still deal the normal damage as normal but you would have 2 weapons and less armor because you have no shield equipped. even if they do haveto rework the skills, doesn't matter how long it takes, it will be better at the end of the process because it will feel like a more medieval type game as real knights/warriors did dual wield swords/axes etc

I just came on here to post something about maces, but would d'ya know.
I dont believe that maces should use the same atribute as hammers though, they are completely different weapons. If you look at the weapon racks in ascolon city you can see a huge mace, I'de like to see that in the game. I'd like to be able to use claymores, masamunes, great swords, ect. I dont know the names of any two handed axes but I'd like to see those too. I think its a great idea!

This is a typical mmorpg request, but if you think over it, it would ruin warrior balance completely. Also the ammount of new models needed for this.
No thanks, i rather get rid of err7, iway, touch rangers and other gimmick before this.

What I was thinking, so it wouldn't ruin balance in the least, is simply have skins that looked like large swords and axes, but have them still fall under the Hammer category. Simple. They've already got Colossal Picks, which are classified as Hammers, but have piercing damage. Just have a giant bastard sword, flamberge, zweihander, etc. with slashing damage, but uses hammer skills. I mean, a giant sword and giant axe could still knockdown, no?
On the reverse, blunt, mace-like weapons could fall under sword or axe classification. There is already a Jitte, which is a sword, but deals blunt damage. I don't think any of that is far-fetched. We really just want the skins, anyway, right?

it will be hard to balance.
it will be less hard if they will add some new attribute like
Mace
Two handed sword
Two handed axe

I have this horrible visual of Timmy Mallet-esque 1 handed blunts ><
but this certinaly would allow some variation into the game, especially if you consider swords which arnt meant to come with an offhand, such as Katanas.

is this a question of skins? or weapon specs?? i don't think balancing will be an issue.
a two-handed weapon:
Boe's Barbarian's Axe
Slashing Dmg 6-28
Energy+5 (while in a stance)
Armor-10
(Two-handed)
it's conceivable, IMO

dual wield FTW. Imagine equiping 2 fellblades! it will just mean that there will be 2 types of warriors, damage warrior and tank. I don't see how that will cause an imbalance although i don't PvP. i think this idea is cooler than coming out with new classes.
TadaceAce
Yes ok let make 2handed axes and swords so warriors can deal even more far exceeding damage than any other class in the game.
The only way people would use 2 hander versus 1 hander + shield is if it does more damage, and if it does more damage you are further pushing the borderline overpowered warriors are already attacking.

differents hammer skins that looks like swords or axe.

Um, no. Removes one of the main strategies of being a Warrior - picking your weapon. Don't forget Evis/Executioners will own squishies in PvP with 2 handed weapons.
Makkert
I think this would require an huge investment of the devs. not only the weapon, but the whole skillsystem of a weaponline would need to be re-evaluated how much damage a particular skill would do in dualhanded or single-handed combat.
it also takes a bit of charasteristic away. people asked for a dual wielding class for a long time, and they got the assassin. now, suddenly the assassin isn't good enough anymore?
i just don't understand.

sin really is not a dual wielding.. it's more like wielding a two handed weapon...
but i disagree on the dual wielding... if warriors can dual wield, as a monk, i insist that i can hold two foci...

I've been wanting this for a while. To me, it seems like the lack of a shield (16 def. with + health or damage reduction) is a pretty good step along the route of balance.
We currently have the choice of 2 handed, or 1 handed. However, this should totally extend beyond the choice of hammer vs. sword/axe, so that you can pick both your chosen weapon, and then wether to use it 1 handed (more defense from an offhand) or 2 handed (sacrifice defense for greater offense).

The warriors having 3 weapons swords/axes/hammers actually screwed up the future from the moment it received 3 weapons.
If they had simply given the Wariors swords then we woudnt have missed the other 2 weapons, i mean if you think of a warrior you would think of a guy holding a sword , right?
If they had left the 2 other weapons out of the arsenal of the warrior it would have made coming up with other melee classes a bit more easy and a bit better , instead of having 3 weapons spread around 1 class you would have 3 profesions that are extremely good at using their weapon.
The warrior would have become the ultimate swordsman, we could have gotten the 7 feet tall characters that carry the huge hammers and bash people. And the axe man a that throw their axe when the enemy os running towards them, you all know what kind of characters im talking about, you seen them in movies.
Sorry for long post , now im gonna go to concept forum and finally post my idea.
Rit Gin dos
Their used to be 2 handed axes if im not mistaken. They were taken outta the game for a reason.

Tricky to balance.
Going in the 1 handed to 2 handed direction is reasonable; you don't affect it too much; just tweaking damage numbers a bit.
The hard part is going from the 2 handed hammer to one handed - that would take a lot of work, as the knockdowns are pretty potent and the only reason really for it; as well, while slowing down the rate of adrenaline gain for sword and axe would compensate for damage to some extent, speeding up adrenaline gain for hammers would really change the power of the hammer KD chains.
I'd be fine with introducing 2H swords and Axes, and not adjusting hammers to 1 handed I suspect. Then again, as is they can leave 1H hammers (blunts) for a new profession (cleric?) and reserve 2H Swords/Axes for a class (barbarian?).

wow this suggestion has been brought up um... 8200 times. There is one reason this will never happen. In order for someone to use a 2handed axe over a 1handed axe would be more damage. Since a 1 handed axe is the highest sustained damage in the game already, donjathink an even more powerful 2handed axe is slightly unbalanced?
As far as one handed hammers.... it just doesn't make sense... fear my devastating 3 pound hammer! Or earthshaker with a little mallet.

You could put 1h hammers/maces/flails under the axe skill spec using axe skills and axe stats, just using blunt damage since they use similer attack animations, etc..
For 2h swords, and axes, you'd put them under the Hammer(2h weapon) spec and keep the same weapons speed to damage ratio for dps, as a 12 pound sledge and a 12 pound maul (for those who've split fire wood) swing the same, just vary the speeds and damage (same dps) for 2h swords, 2h hammers, 2h maces, 2h axes, 2h picks, etc. using exsisting hammer skills.
For duel wield.. use dagger combat animation.. make it were the main hand weapon is the acual weapon, while the off hand acts like a focus, so if you had a +5e 33% bleed +7 armor sword in the off hand, you'd gain the benifts of those mods at the cost of not having a shield, keeping 1h damage the same... not unbalencing but get the looks and some benifits of duel wield.

i dont know if you guys know this game, the name is Dark ages of camelot. it was like a game like GW and WOW. and the warrior class had the same as what you guys want. a 2 handed sword. man it deals way more damage, but less armor. also the attack speed was a bit slower. but it looks great if you have a big @ss sword in your hands. this game is about 10 years old and i think gw and wow have learned a lot of this game.
Only problem is that you also have to pay for this game just like WOW. but the fun part in this game was that you had big @ss fights between 2 realms. Like 1 realm controlls a castle and a other realm wants to take the castle over. what do you get, a big fight. 150 vs 200. and no lag
