Two handed swords/axes & 1 handed blunt weapons
SilentVex
Just to balance the base weapons they would need to make 2h swords and axes hit for more, yet be as slow as the 2h hammer, and make maces hit for less, but be faster. That isn't a problem, however the skills themselves are. Hammer skills were designed for a 1.75 second round time. Making them hit any faster makes them overpowered (KD way too often). Sword and Axe skills would become too underpowered, as they now hit slower. Even if they found a way to balance it ok, I'd rather see anet spend their time working on other things - like fixing their now oh so f'd up HA.

Remember the Jitte? It's a weapon that uses Marksmanship but deals blunt damage.
Here you are.
Make Two handed 'hammers' that look like two haded swords and axes and make them use 'Two handed weapons' mastery, XD.
That way you have two handed swods.
You may rename Warrior atributed like this:
'Ligth weapon mastery', swords, single handed hammers, ...
'Heavy weapon mastery', axes, mazes, etc...
'Two handed mastery', Mauls, Great Axes and swords...
You just change some skill descriptions, add some new skins and bingo, you get two handed swords without changing the metagame.

Yeah, everyone wants to look like shiro with 2 swords
everyone wants the biggest 2 handed sword
heck, so do I, shiros my fav character and I would pay all my money in GW for his armour and dual swords (dont give me that shiros blades stuff, I wanna be able to USE them)
but it isnt realistic, an example is in NWN, as soon as I got my greatsword, none of the other weapons seemed useful, even if I had a shield, my other swords, axes and everything else seemed pointless, I just swung around my massive sword, thats what will probably happen if they implement them, shields will vanish, and I dont want that to happen

Well in NWN I ended up using dual rapiers...
And dealing MUCH more damage due to increased criticals.
Do not forget that +16 armor IS +16 armor.

i know a easy way to balance this out, how bout:
swordsmanship = 2 handed swords
Hammer mastery = 1 handed maces
Axe mastery = 2 handed axes
and just + 10% more dmg to the skillz while weilding a 2 handed weapon (except for 1 handed mace, decrease chance of knockdown by 15% or somthin like that) but id really like to see this for warriors...

I though it after staring at my character holding a huge axe with one hand. They could reuse the same animation from swinging the hammer also. It would open up a possibilty for two-handed only versions of axes and swords like bastard swords, halberds and other pole axes, lochaber axes. On the opposite end, i would like to see one handed maces and clubs and mauls. These would use hammer skills and have faster strikes, but at the cost of damage and less chance of knockdown to balance it out. tellme what you guys think. ^.^ |

Using KD skills with a single handed hammer is a bit silly, but then single handed hammers were not uncommon in history, as were two handed (pole)axes, piercing swords etc.
Thinking about these mechanics it may be wise to reconsider the effects of singlehanded vs twohanded weapons. Singlehanded becoming twohanded is not too bad. But having KD benefits on a one handed weapon (besides bulls strike and such) is a bit too much to my opinion.

would prefer a new class with two handed weapons (or with choice to use two). i wouldnt touch warriors at all. they are very good balanced atm.
mh and i dont like the idea of sword/axe skins for hammers... but can not say why.
I want a really 'badboy' looking barbarian class.
