what's so special about crystaline swords?

are they just rare or what?where do they dropped?
sry i'm quite new to here

AFAIK they only drop from the chests you get after winning the Hall of Heroes. At least, that's the only place I've heard of them showing up. If someone else knows different, please jump in.

rare drop in underworld from a a mob that 95% of the UW parties never go and really cant be solo farmed

They used to drop from the chest outside Marhans Grotto and a barrel in The Scar....3 months back.

OrangeArrow, you should know better than to leave vague hints as to the secret mob to farm something from. Please post more specifics.

It's really just the rarity that makes it special. That and its "different" from all the other swords. It has a unique look that doesnt fit normal expectations of the game. If you are a total newbie and play through the game and never see one and then find one, its a complete shock and awe. I myself never knew of their existence till recently and when i saw one for sale i thought that it looked awfully similar to a quest reward....Anyway I take pride in using and owning more rare looking weapons like chaos axes, mursaat skinned weapons, storm bows, eternal weapons, shadow weapons.

Even my lvl 12 ranger in pre-searing has a really high level flatbow (second highest flatbow ive seen in pre-searing)

I've found a max purple one in a barrels deep in the falls. I'm pretty sure that they are a rare drop from hydras too.

yea, then there is the crappy you you can get in pre-searing, but these often just say 'long sword' but look exactly the same as the crystaline sword. I've got one I keep to show newbies.

I'm not sure on their looks, would go nice with the right sheild I suppose, but I agree its one of those nice rare things

A purple max one dropped from the FoW chest (quest by rastigan). Sold it here on the forum close to 200k ^^.

Ten Million gold.. Is that even possible!? I mean even with several accounts that wont work, and why is that amount of gold on one person! That amount should be cycling through the economy and spreading to the low-medium end Characters!

I dont know where my gold even goes now ;_;

I've made hunting for this elusive item now my sole purpose in the PvE environment. I'll find it if it kills me :P

i guess that price pretty much answers the op's question.

If I remember correctly they used to be common around release time. I remember seeing tons of people have them.. Of course I am talking about low level ones, but crystaline swords none the less.

In terms of stats it's the same with everything, no difference at all, you can find pretty much all weapons and items with identical stats, for their type. The only thing that's different is the look and how often it can be found (i.e. dropped from mob/chest)
