Level 19 in Pre-Sear?!
Lasher Dragon
Last night I saw a 19th level monk in presear. Has anyone else seen similar?
Sister Rosette
We could if you have a pic.
Yichi
If its the same monk, its a female monk in black collectors armor i believe. I talked to her, she wants to prove it possible to have a lvl 20 in pre.
Lasher Dragon
I have a couple, but I am at work so it won't be for another 8 hours or so until I can post them. I didn't even think it was possible to get that high in presear.
Guizzy
The only way I can think of would be quitting after the small PvP battle before the searing.
Which is, in my opinion, a pretty shitty thing to do to both her and the "enemy" team.

huh
In my experience, she's a snob and greatly enjoys the attention.
And I did speak to her, but didn't get any replies.
No doubt, its something noone else has done before.
But you could be nicer about it when people talk to you.
Here are a few lines:
Wow...arrogance knows no boundaries.
The bigger surprise was, people actually did form a line in front of her.
Wow...I don't know what to say about that.
Whoever has seen her or heard about her should know what her real IGN is based on name I quoted
If you don't know, go look for her, I assure you she'd enjoy the attention

I have better things to do with my time LOL
Diablo???
thats too bad, imagine how difficult it must be for him to bring her across to post searing... then no one would care.

Basically, I think this is done by having someone accompany your character across the wall; pulling a few charr over by the rez terminal and letting them level by killing you. Once the monsters have leveled into the teens, you can then kill them for experience. It's a long, boring process.

It would be incredibly boring, but I am curious if this is indeed true.
**edit*** Someone beat me to this....

Wouldn't the char eventually not gain exp from killing you so much? But i can understand why she wants to stay in pre-searing, i like the game world alot better there.

I comfirm it.
btw, what they do is as soon as they're starting to get killed at the shrine they'll go to work/school/bed and they'll be level 20 when they come back. Then they kill the charr for xp

I also believe that theres another male monk thats in full black and in pre-sear too. They've made a guild and often advertise saying "Want to know how we're level 20?" "Join this guild and we'll tell you now! Seperate yourself from the noobs!"

Ah, the relativity of what is productive, and what is wasting time.
Some would say playing games and watching television are total wastes of time when you could be learning other languages, advanced mathematics, or a classical instrument such as the violin.
I say as long as you're enjoying yourself and having fun during the time you designate as leisure time, through whatever means, then it's productive leisure. If they want to max out their level in pre-searing for a sense of accomplishment, then more power to them.
Is getting Fissure armor somehow less of a waste of time? The difference is purely an aesthetic one, and it exists for the sole purpose of setting yourself apart from other people, as one of the PvE elite (in terms of cash, at least).
Beyond armor, runes, max damage weapon with desired inherent mods, and salvageable weapon mods, there's no other use for money that actually improves your character. Max armor+max damage weapons with max inherent mods can be gotten from collectors, runes are easily gotten from the trader fairly cheaply, and only weapon mods might give you trouble in buying the max ones. Having large amounts of money is just another bragging rights thing.
So in what way, may I ask, is this a waste of time in such a way that any of the people who say so would not also be guilty through logical deduction? Is it envy that brings a person to say this? Hypocrisy? Not thinking before speaking/writing? Whatever, but until someone comes up with a good reason, I do not think highly of such posts.

"Want to know how we're level 20?" My answer would be simple: NO but do you want to know how to get a life beyond GW?
hrm...is that possible? i mean isnt there a point were to stop getting exp from killing the charrs from the high lvl you already?
If anyone else is think of doing that, my advise would be get a life beyond GW.
Dont get me wrong or anything but there is a life beyond GW you know...? you do know that right? RIGHT?

Seems to me like she is just doing it to "lord it over" the presear noobs... "Ha, behold, I am 19th in presear, behold my complete lack of a real life! Bow down before one with waaay more time than you!"

You're saying 1 waste of time is bad, and another equal waste of time is worth it. Smart.
You also seem to think that their level 19 Monk is their ONLY character. I think you're an absolute fool to think that character is all they have. They might have 2 other characters all with 15k armor, and might just be doing this for fun. But no, it's not farming and making gold in a computer game so it's not worth doing. Give me a f*cking break and get over yourself.
dustbunny
Must you publicly judge everyone for what they accomplish? You can't just say "congratulations" and move on? Does a glob of ectoplasm magically disappear from your account everytime you congratulate someone or wish someone well? There is something to be said about people that can be gracious even if they disagree. Pointing out that someone is "wasting time" or "having no life" while you yourself play a video game and spend time reading up on it in forums is a bit of the pot calling the kettle black. Or did you not catch that yourself?

</Sarcasm'd FTW>
Why is it that people draw the line of where things become an 'addiction', 'waste of time', or where people 'have no life', exactly at the spot of where they're at?
It's rude, it's a personal attack, and it honestly has no more place on these boards than topics preaching repentance for eternal salvation (No particular religion mentioned, which is the point, of course. People's religious beliefs are vastly diverse.). Whether you believe what you spout or not, your advice isn't welcome in either case.
Lasher Dragon
The difference here is any damn fool can sacrifice themselves to Charr ad infinitum, not anyone can succesfully say ascend at 1st level ala Lulu. Not just anyone can survive even 5 mins in the FOW or the UW. To be first to level 20 in presear is a unique goal, but one which entails little or no skill, and no reward apart from saying that you have done it. To top it off, the person acts as though they are incredibly superior because of it, and I think that is greatly amusing. See, it's not so much what they are "wasting" their time doing, but their attitude about it.
Laurelin Goldtree
As I see it, if one wishes to lvl their character to 20 before going into the Academy into the Great Unknown, then so be it. I, personally, go post at lvl 7and do all the missions straight to Ascension. At lvl 20, I go back to Ascalon and do all those quests I missed. As a result, I'm usually lacking in skills but I hate post-searing Ascalon so much, that I just rush right through it at 20. Everyone has their own system.
And for the record: I have found black dye twice in the time I've been playing GW (since it's official release date in late May): both in Pre-Searing Ascalon. I heard from a friend (lvl 14 monk) who has a lvl 20 wolf in Pre-Searing that Charr have decent dye drops...that'd be one reason to stick around.
And some people like to help the newbs...oh, what blasphemy have I uttered?! I admit it, I'm sorry. I like helping newbs! And if you're always running around helping out with quests and hunting with pals in Pre-Searing, you're gonna gain the levels. Getting past 14 seems a little tedious to me, but to each his own. Good luck on that one!

No matter what, this person is talked about, so has probably met his/her goal.
