Personally I play fem. only characters. As a chick, who has been gaming for nearly 20 years, much of my experiences up until recently was being forced to play a male character. It's only really been in the last 10 years that the option has even existed for playing either gender.
Anyone remember King's Quest series? With the sole exception of #3 or #4 (can't remember which) you had no choice but to play as a male. My apologies to the gamin companies of that era, but fighting a dragon and climbing a tower to rescue a beautiful princess wasn't really that appealing.

Usually i only play male chars in any game. This comes from my "chat/uo roleplay" background where you really roleplay a char in the world, living his life like an actor plays a role.
I never felt comfortable to roleplay female and thats why i usually stick with male chars.

Sometimes i regret 2 things the most.

1. My Necromaner has that stupid punk hair, i have no idea why i picked that, it is far away from my usual "hairstyles" i choose in MMO's. Still i kept leveling him and now he is my only lvl 20 char (please note: i haven't really played in 8 months).
I still hope for a way to change design.

2. My Necromaner is male. I really learned to love the looks of the female Necromancers, and most of all i envy their dance emote. The Thriller dance is just so suiting/funny for the otherwise "serious-semi-evil" class.

I am male and usually play male characters in every game unless for necros in GW, because they really do look pathetic.

Should have made the design a bit more like the lich lord, that would be awesome - but not some gimpy, weak, crippled person...
