...come to an end.

Just a note to let you know that we've enjoyed all the festivities, and the happy times, and we'll be leaving the town decorations and NPCs in place until Friday, at which time the towns will revert to normal.

This is a nice way to reach a compromise between those who would like us to keep the decorations forever and those who are prepared to return to regular day-to-day life in Lion's Arch, Tomb of the Primeval Kings, and Droknar's Forge.

We are delighted with your positive response and your kind comments about the Halloween Event, and look forward to fun events like this in the future. In the meantime, look for a little keepsake on the official site tomorrow.

Town-in-a-bottle?

I really enjoyed all the effort and artistic ability that went into the Halloween event, and I'm almost regretting that it has passed so quickly But on the other hand, this makes me all the more excited to see what ingenuity comes with future holiday events

It was awesome Gaile, created lots of bustle and chatter and brought some life back. I was one of the people that sat in LA for all three midnights (time zones) even though I knew it was happening at noon, just to see the reactions and people actually having fun and enjoying each other.

Well done!

It brought me back to GW after a few weeks of non-activity. Good job on that, make sure to make more timed events in the future

The problem with Thanksgiving is that it's not the same date for everyone and it's only celebrated in America.

It's around the 11th of October for Canada and I think somewhere in the middle of November for the U.S

It's not a wide-spread holiday like Halloween, Christmas or Easter.

True, but us Europeans and Koreans don't want to be forced to have a holiday we don't care for in the game

I've drunken about 50 Witches' Brews over the course of the event. Needless to say, I've enjoyed myself but my warrior isn't feeling quite right anymore. Maybe I need to become a tank so I can use Purge Signet to feel better.

I wish I could've been there for the Mad King event... but had classes to attend and papers to write.... I sat in LA for 9 hours Tuesday hoping to get a pumpkin on my shoulders but to no avail.

Oh well, thanks Anet for all the effort and one sweet game!

I want to thank Gaile and ANet again for the awesome Haloween event!!!!!

This was a fantastic social event for Guild Wars. I was up past midnight for several nights in a row. All the LA districts were packed all the way down to d8! After much trying I made it into d2 and PARTIED! I had more fun at this party than I've have at some real life parties!!!

I even made a little party dress for Carinae, because battle armor didn't feel right for the event. We drank, we danced, we met other people and made new friends... BIG FUN!

And no hangover the next morning (but maybe still a little tired)

This man has it figured out. Who really cares whose holiday it is? Free stuff and interesting events means everybody wins. I wouldn't have a problem with celebrating every American, European, and Korean holiday, if it means getting stuff.

You said it all right there!
I don't celebrate Halloween, never had.
Yes I don't even know what candy corn is
Nonetheless, I still had a blast and made a few new in-game friends.

Holloween isn't celebrated in Korea either, yet we still had an event for it. Korea has a "Thanksgiving" (called Chuseok) that is celebrated in the fall. While Korea is growing in Christian population, it's very much the minority - Koreans have Confucianism, Buddhism, Christianity and Islamic as significant religous memberships (in that order) so to claim that Korea "celebrates" Christmas is incorrect. Only about 25% of the population is christian. Same would apply for any other christian religous holidays (Easter, etc).

If ANet had to account for every single special holiday from every single country GW is played from, we'd have a special event twice a day, and the expansion would never get done.

Christmas is also the celebration of the return of the sun (hence the candles on the trees), also known as the winter solstice. My family is atheist, and so does not celebrate christmas as the birthday of christ, but rather as the returning of the light, the end of the shortening of days. Please note that I mean no offense to christians, this is merely a different way of celebrating the holiday.

[/offtopic]

Great job with the update ANet, and while I will be glad to see the return of "old" Lion's Arch, new scenery is always something I enjoy. I look foward to other holidays with much excitement now

It comes down to this. Anyone who wants to complain about celebrating this or that holiday can just give their items to me or not get them in the first place. Thanks.

I think it won't be "christmas" per say, but more like the spirit of the holiday its self. Won't be based on "god", but probbably, hence the name "X-mas" (X standing for christ being crossed out). Alot of people celebrate x-mas. Its the sensation of the holiday season. (I love "")

A bit off topic but I always read that Confucianism was not a religion but a ethical system with no God just a founder. So scratch the number 1 off the list.

Good point about the various holidays, with the amount of time europe takes off work for holidays the release will surely be delayed.

Well it's good that the decorations will be coming down. Since my hopeful halloween gift went down the crapper though, I guess I'll have to pray that part of the art team still cares about the...*cough*15ktormentors'set*cough*, and that I see it at least before Christmas. Honestly...
