What computers do the average users have for Guildwars?
BlindNympho
Im currently running GW on my good laptop... which has some problems with overheating...
3.19 Ghz P4
1g ram
Ati Mobile 9700 128 mb ram
Audigy sound blaster 2
Nec 6500 DvD+R which is supposed to burn DL but wont....
System doesnt run a good as it should do to the fact that the fans dont seem to keep all of that stuff in the small laptop cool enough.
but im thinking about buying the parts and making this system myself.
Asus K8V SE Deluxe VIA Socket 754 ATX Motherboard
AMD Athlon™ 64 3700+ Processor 754 socket
2x Ultra1024MB PC3200 DDR 400MHz Memory
Ultra V-Series 400-Watt ATX Power Supply
NEC ND3540A DVD/CD-R Rewritable OEM Drive
Lite-On / 52x32x52x CD-RW / Black / CD Burner
Maxtor / DiamondMax 10 / 160GB / 7200 / 16MB
Maxtor / DiamondMax 10 / 300GB / 7200 / 16MB
XFX GeForce FX 5500 / 256MB DDR / AGP 8X
Creative Labs SoundBlaster Live 24-Bit PCI Sound Card
And im thinking about getting something like this:
Ultra Commander 7-Channel Fan Controller Plus 3 Titanium Finish 80mm Fans
to help keep the system extra cool
I have never made my own system so im not sure about the compatability on all of this so im still haveing to check and dbl check stuff.
but tell what yall think

Hey Blind look into Thermaltake cases. They are reasonable and my Tsunami has 2 -120mm fans. One in the front, one in the back and a 90mm on the side, the system can't get much colder on the inside unless you run water. Also get a nice heatsink since GW runs your cpu at max
Lambentviper
so where can i find out what kinda gig im running?

Intel Pentium 4 (2.20GHz)

Nvidia GeForce FX5500 AGP 8x (upgrading to a 6800 GS this christmas to help with running Neverwinter 2)
I can run GW with everything maxxed, but it causes me a slight reduction in framerate. My favored setup is everything maxxed, but reflections on default and AA on 2x. 1024x768 85GHz.
It seems that the Nvidia GeForce 5 (aka FX) series is the average family of cards, and the GeForce 6 series is for most hardcore or semi-hardcore gamer.
Of course, I mainly play games like GW, Warcraft 3, etc so I don't see why this card isn't good.
