Petition for Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard Support *Please Sign*
Bon
/signed. I have been wanting to buy this keyboard.

I doubt Anet will ever implement this suggestion simply because only a small minority of players use the keyboard. The majority of GW players would not support the development costs for a small minority.

I have had a G15 since they first came out and I cannot honestly see me using any other keyboard for a long time to come. Even though I have managed to kill one with coffee and my mate managed to kill my replacement with another coffee the very next day I had a new G15, they are just so superior to other keyboards.
There was a GW app being written by a guy on the G15 Mods . com site a while ago but he was informed that at the time it was against the EULA which I think we all agree kind of sucks.
Petition totally signed !!

Have you actually figured out yet what you'd want to have displayed on the G15's LCD?

1) u have to be registered on the forums
2) its bug free i have checked it thougherly
3) your not using it with gw, your using it with ur keyboard
4) the g-button macros are NOT against the eula (as someone posted earlier)
5) whats displayed on teh lcd basically means u can turn off about 5 or 6 interface options.

There's been some confusion about whether or not making an applet for the LCD panel will get you banned from Guild Wars. The general rule of thumb is that if the applet gives you an unfair advantage over other gamers or shows you information you were never intended to see (which might give you an unfair advantage), then it will get you banned.
According to this, displaying the standard character info (health, energy, target name, level, etc.) is probably legit. Apparently, there was a WoW mod out there that allowed you to see when an enemy was casting a hostile spell (as well as what that spell was) against you. Since that would certainly be giving you an unfair advantage over other players, that kind of applet would certainly get you punished.
There's a ton of simple, easy functions the G15 LCD keyboard could do if given then time for it. Even if it was something as simple as chat output, character info., quest info., etc., it would be greatly appreciated. However, it does seem like what a lot of people here were saying: it would be a significant effort applied to an insignificant group of players, in short, a waste of their time. But we sure would love them for it!

Anyway i would love to see the lcd gets supported for GW, i've read the whole thread, and noticed some people saying something like, "you never look at your keyboard when playing" well many people do and with a keyboard like the G15, you alway's see the display and thus it could be very usefull with support for GW to display some basic info, that you still need to know but not necessarely need on your monitor.

Now hold on a min about the "Macro ordeal." I've played Lineage II, and in game they allow for people to make there own macro. Example "Casting a ton of Buffs." What isn't allowed are macro's that make the player run PURELY automatic! (Target Selected, Player Attacks, Target Dies, Repeat)
"They Do not support the Rinse Lather Repeat Method"
aka BOTS!

Although I generally use the LCD on my G15 to display info that isn't currently on my monitor (the current time, CPU temp, etc.) I don't see why it would be a bad thing to have a Guild Wars plug-in. I've used one of the unofficial Guild Wars plug-ins, and although I didn't find it all that useful it's a very simple task and would not take much in the way of development resources (a decent programmer could write one in their spare time over a day or two...and they have, it's just not officially accepted by ANet).
So, why would you vote "no"? Do you enjoy the thought of people being denied something that they want? That's just silliness.

It would be nice to have the LCD do something a little more useful for GW. Even a better RSS that shows only the single most recent Game Update and scrolls down it so you can read it all.... It would be snazzy if the skill info popped onto the LCD when you clicked/hovered it instead of appearing when you hover over your toolbar in combat. If wishes were fishes...

Ain't got one of these keyboards, but might get one having read reviews thanks to this thread. Either way, can't see why it can't be supported by GW. Macros aside, there are plenty of things you could benifit from with this KB.

Although I don't see much practical use... all the game info you need to see is already on your screen. I'll leave mine set with Vent and Foobar info only.

I would love to have certain info displayed on my LCD so I could get rid of some of the stuff on my screen for more visibility.

Like previously said, I dont see a practical use for it as I usually leave mine set on vent, but like also previously said, cant hurt to get the most out of my investment.

As we all know, the only way to get the developers to change anything is to all join together as players. If you use one of these wonderful keyboards, or plan on acquiring one in the future, please sign this petition. Hopefully we can grab their attention, and one day see the keyboard supported by a game we all love and enjoy. Thanks, Zeegen |
Would *you* be willing to flip the bill for the programmer necessary to support this particular peripheral? I sure wouldn't.
