chest farming?

Ok i was wondering where would one go to chest farm, it cant be to complicated so i dont need a tutorial. but plz just a location would be nice.

what locations have you done and what level are you?

anywhere except the last mission... and im lvl20

The big question here is what chests are worth opening?

Personally, I believe that chests ≥ Southern Shiverpeaks are worth it.

If you just want to run around and find the chests, then take a full party of henchies (since the chest drop is all yours anyway) and wander around. The henchies will keep the pressure off you.

I'd have to say that the Shiverpeaks have the most frequent chests at about 3-4 per map area.

buy keys at port sledge.
henchie up, exit town, head east
just follow paths, bring balanced stance and use when azure shadows come out. sprint when you need to, and theres about 2-3 chests per run, its a very short run, takes about 3-4 minutes per run...

decent drops, i got a req 8 gold max wingblade and a req 10 gold max fellblade back to back... so you judge. i'd say the goldurple ratio is about 1:4, chances are 99% the item is max.

But seriously, does buying the Keys flat-out from Port Sledge actually result in a profit? Because I've considered pulling this run, but I seem to get crap drops when I find a key... well, crap for my expectations.

I'm just trying to determine worst-case scenario. Like I have to sell all the drops from each chest to the merchant... do I really lose any money? If so, how much?

Personally, no, I don't think they're worth buying but that's just me who, unless I can use the item found, will sell it to the trader.

From my experience, this is a no go area, i think it's just another gold sink.

I tried this myself, i bought 10 shiverpeak keys and ran to a chest outside War Camp 10 times.

The outcome.. Everything went to the Merchant, all of it, bada bing bada boom all gone! No profit made what so ever.

how about doing fow chest runs...yes its 1k to get into fow but from what i hear its quite profitable...eh just a suggestion

I've gotten just as much merchant fodder crap from FoW runs that frm any other runs. Total waste of time and gold.

Fissure runs can be very nice. I do them all the time with more than one person so the entree fee is split.
On our second run we found an uber-chest which gave up a max gold chaos axe and a fellblade

Last couple of times I have gone to UW and done smites the usual 2 chests that are there are NOWHERE to be found! Anybody else noticed this? Where did they move em too?

The Whole Chest Farming Bugs Me Because The Keys Cost A Bomb And Then The Weapons Suck

yeah i dont think it's worth it in the end. When i farm griffions at augury i used to always use the key drops on the chests but now i fugure 4 keys dropped are worth 1k but if you open 4 chest your lucky to make 300g selling the weapons you get out of them.

It may not be profitable in the short run but I spent 30k on shiverpeaks keys in total and found a 14>50 brute sword req 8 and a 15>50 fell and a buncha other stuff. It just takes patience.

I just take Miner's Keys into SF if I farm. I got 2 15>50 Max dmg weapons (Shortbow and a Righteous Hammer), and bought about 30 Keys. Worth the money, probably not, but I like it to have chance to get a really rare weapon, it's just something like gambling, but with money I don't really care about.

The best chests, imho, are the ones heavily surrounded by aggro <usually always a gold chest, in my experience> kill agg, unlock for a nice rare. I personally believe <In my experience, again>, that these places are the best:

The Southern Shiverpeaks. <anywhere south of snakes dance/mineral springs>
<also great for elite capturing!>

SF: keys work here too.

The crystal desert: Missions here. Elona's/Thirsty/Dunes drop nice chest items if surrounded by agg <again, in my experience>


The Ring of Fire: Nice chests usually all around, never really got a crappy drop from a chest except a gold armor with a major rune.

FoW/UW: anywhere here is nice, if you get to chests in either or.

I personally prefer chest farming in south shiverpeaks, SF, fow, and uw areas. If money is no object for the keys. The chests drop items that occasionally would allow me to unlock mods and runes for pvp. I don't look at chest farming to make a profit, b/c more likely than not you lose money on your keys. But for pvp unlocking, chest farming is a nice alternative to faction farming.
