Frenzy + Healing Signet + No armour... critical hit or not?

too bad u cant have someone cast weaken armor on u did u run away from he while he was swinging? it might help
Mako
ouch.

Well, you set a record. We'll see if it can be beaten.
Weaken Armor might help, altough it is a bit strange to weaken someone's armor when he has none !
Winnoning might give a small boost.
...might be others, but none spring to mind right away.

Spellcasters with 60AL can get hit for ~250/300dmg
No armor (0AL) : 280% dmg
Frenzy (double damage) : 200%
Healing Signet (-40AL) : 200% if your armor can be negative or 100% if you're stuck at 0 AL.
Total:
~2800/3400dmg if you can have a negative AL
~1400/1700dmg if you cannot have a negative AL
Add to this total:
Potentially critical: 140%
No armor (0AL) : 280% dmg
Frenzy (double damage) : 200%
Healing Signet (-40AL) : 200% if your armor can be negative or 100% if you're stuck at 0 AL.

My point was that we need more info to know if it was a critical (140%) without a negative AL, or if it was just a basic hit with -40AL. If the latter is possible, we can expect much stronger hits from a critical.
Racthoh
My guildmate tried it using Elemental Resistance + Healing Signet and was struck for 2425 according to the screenie they took.
2425... seems a little high given that one would assume Frenzy would make it much higher unless negative AL works on some kind of exponential rate of increase.

its funny...when you have wealth, you tend to find ways of wasting it.
Rogmar
try using weapons that lower armor, like the one what gives damage always -10 armor while attacking
Monseir

nightrunner
Does Healing Signet give you negative AL if you have no armor on?

Really? How so?
Lasareth
Because everything that isn't absolutely normal by everyone's standards is photoshopped, duh

Just because you don't believe it or think it is plausible doesn't mean its photoshopped.

ZOMG my avatar's Photoshopped!
Back on topic, slightly, this is an excellent counterpart to that max HP build I had going way back when. It'd be nice to test the limits of GW. -9999 hp? (I'm listening to Final Fantasy music right now, ignore me.)

no i believe it, it is just that the 1 is lower down than the rest of the 980 and its a brighter color.
Racthoh
Well I'll give you a platinum to go into the Underworld using Healing Signet and Frenzy to see for yourself.
And now I think I will have to find a -10 when attacking weapon along with a -5 offhand.

Why would you use that? It won't stack with the signet (you can't attack and use a signet at the same time), and -40AL from Healing Signet is better.
Now I'd be curious to see a few more damage statistics with and without a signet. If the average damage is the same, you can't have a negative armor. If your average damage is doubled, you can reach -40AL. If you're reluctant to spend platinums for this test, just bring a monk friend and ask him to stay away and to rebirth you. Infinite testing for only 1k.

Naked ranger, meteor from hydra outside Augury = 322 dmg. With healing signet, 703 damage. With Frenzy, 1,406. And that's the news.

*slaps self in face* ... well I still need a -5 offhand.
unienaule
holy crap...
Racthoh
Well here is some sample data... there was probably an easier way to do to this...
No armour + Frenzy: 1600, 820, 1600, 918, 868
No armour + Frenzy + Healing Signet: 3200, 1974, 3200, 2236, 3200
Here is a collection of my pain:
If negative armour is possible then, how would armour pentration work?

I had a +5 armor focus equipped. Balls! My next 2 tries resulted in 1606 and 2166.
Well, you'd have to set up a GvG, give the hittee a 10/10 sundering weapon, and then have at it with wild blow.

Thanks for your quick test, Racthoh (and unienaule). That's an impressive amount of damage.
1600 (or 3200 with signet) seems to be the max damage, and possibly a critical value if you were running (and hit in the back). If you were not hit by a critical, you can expect a 40% bonus from an actual critical. Note that Aatxes being lvl28, their chance to land a critical is somewhat high (66% according to SonOfRah's unreliable formula) so 3200 might be the max value.
If armor penetration works the way Ensign described it, then it probably *reduces* the absolute value of your negative armor and therefore increases it. To test this, you need a human partner (unrated GvG) to hit you with 2 different spells (one air spell with 25% penetration, one spell without penetration) that deal the same amount of damage. The damage won't be random and you'll see the effect of the armor penetration.

Hmm, 1k a pop... This looks like a very expensive experiment. I'm wondering which hit harder, Aataxes or Glint. The purpose is to test the largest dmg inflicted right? I think the titans hit lvl 2 pretty hard.
unienaule
Holy crap... I hadn't even thought of that, imagine level 1, heal sig + frenzy vs. meteor outside augury!!!

Whats funny is if you had this, and Symbiosis and some spamming random enchantments on you. Dont know if it'd even work, but It'd be cool to see someone Survive one of the max PvE hit - hits.
unienaule
The best part is, it WOULD work.
