Sure, high rank players are more likely to be good then low rank players, but this isn't always the case. And they are also far more likely to be arrogant twats. This is interesting: If you were an employer who was hiring, would you hire on the basis of the previous salary earned by the applicant? Sure, someone with a higher previous salary is statistically more likely to be good at his job, to have more experience, a better education and all that. But would you hire them based on this only? Would you consider making having earned an x amount previously a requirement? Would you say that in politics people who have held the most important positions are the most suitable persons to be in power? I do hope you would not. As in the real world, in Guild Wars, l33tism is a serious obstruction to people being judged on merit. |

Heya Caros. 
Our particular spike would not have been in any way affected by Nature's Renewal (it is a fairly common spike build, but Not FoC or Air, obviously). At least one of our monks would not have enjoyed the spirit being up, of course, and maybe this healing monk was running boon or something... But my point with this story was that many players with higher rank assume that they know better than players with lower rank and tend to switch to the role of self-proclaimed leader when people let them. And if you have a plan, that can be as bad for you and your team as having a relatively inexperienced player in it. A lot worse, maybe.
Rank should of course not be reset and Anet will not consider that, I am sure. It does tell you tell you a lot about a players experience (time spend) in tombs. It may tell you something about a player's skill too. And the average rank of a team will tell you a lot about how likely it is to do well (if they are not a guild team), which is only natural when skilled and experienced players (with high rank) exclude lower rank players from their teams and guilds. And snobbery about rank really will prevent newer, talented players from getting anywhere fast in tombs.

Ya i extrmely hate it when people completely grade you on ur rank... just the other day my rank 2 -0 group would have won hoh with a iway group if the hero didnt get stuck under the steps. We were only rank 2- and we were pretty good...
i hate it when people grade us on our rank and titles since the majority of us arnt huge and play like 24/7 we have lives too!!

the problem is now you have A LOT of rank (6 , 6 who says they're 7 or 8) players, so of course they can show a wolf emote, but their pvp knowledge is limited to :

c)press eviscerate,
d)if you win say gg,

Stop trying to define something that is not based on a single players ability but that of a group. You win or lose by the group not by your "uber"-selves. Just deal with it. The Rank system makes an easy way to pick up PUG's. But most rank 3+/6+ groups dont do that well unless you can stack them with some friends to control it.... but I digress. Rank means nothing about a players abilitys just there time spent in that one realitivly minor area of PVP when compared to GvG. People who are worried about Rank...
People who actualy play the game for fun or in groups that actualy play together no thats were its at. PS exactly how hard do you think it realy is to hit four buttons in order every time? Answer that and you now have a bases for how hard a basic IWAY group is to play in. Approach any of the guilds I run with with an idea like "we should build based on rank" and they would laugh. OP no worries bro there are pleanty of high ranked guilds out there actualy looking for low-ranked players... why you ask? Because low ranks generaly dont have aditude issues. Get them young train them right. (Wierd I thought that was a parents job....) Oh well so much for that hope you guys have a great day and enjoy the game.
