I can tell that MKB is a good guild, however i just met one member of it, but he tells about themselves and what they do (watched all videos). I said one word: crazy (of course in good way)

My guild is good in my opinion, i know the members from betas and after release, since then just few joined us, but we know them too.
We have good time of course within limits.
The guild focus on pvp, but i mostly pve since im not playing gvg and people are suprised why im in a pvp guild, perhaps they understand now.

So, the conclusion: if you know your guild's members, that is a good guild.

My guild is a simple guild. We are a group of guys who have been gaming together for almost 5 years. Not all are into GW, but some of us are and work together and help each other out. Even when we don't have a lot of active players on GW, I'd never switch to another guild.

They thought I was being "disrespectful" by refusing to take anything.

My guild is a little inactive (pvp-wise) but very friendly ^_^. The officer who dragged me from the magical realm of presearing into the endbringers when I was 18 minutes old left a month ago because we didn't do enough PvP =(. I don't think he was a bad officer and I understand how he was bored. Either way I guess I can consider myself VERY lucky to be in an awesome, if a little boring, guild.

We consider our guild to be a good one, part of that because its small and restarting right now. Most of the officers and a few members from the old one left to start this new one to get away from a few bad apples. We don't spam recruit (If you are in a quest or mission PUG one of us is in, and are very polite/helpful we may ask if you want to join.) Not every member that joins stays with us because we are mainly PvE which turns some people off and we wont hand you everything on a platter, but most help where they can. We take the time to help new members get running with our Vent server and people happily chat and goof off. People will get booted for inactivity (ie after a month or two of not logging on) unless someone knows why they are gone. I guess it helps that people tend to join in pairs. :-) We help eachother with price checks or finding items. Plus members that play WoW too will switch games to come help with missions most of the time. Now there are nice people!

I like my guild mainly because there are no cliques, When we were doing GvG ranger spike the leader just did a textual nose-gos and the first four got to be spikers. On the first team, we had like 3.

A good Guild would be the one I'm in now. My husband had gotten further in the game then me and then came back to take me up to yaks with him. One day we decided to go back and do the missions I had skipped over. Sitting in town LFG found two great guys we did a couple of the missions with. We added them to our friends list and hung out doing quests and missions with one of them regularly and then with his wife as well when she got her account. Always had fun together...it usually doesn't matter what were doing we all just have fun. Even at a 60% dp and dying every 30 seconds were all still laughing and joking. When we left our old guild and joined theres we found out all the people are that way. Its lots of fun.

Bad guild -

our old one. We were in the middle of and fow run with some friends and one of our guild leaders says they want to gvg. we told them well were in the middle of fow maybe when we finish (im not big on pvp but was willing to go to fill the spot and help out the rest of the guild). So he says in guild chat to everyone one "well this sucks we made you two officers because we thought you were going to support the guild but when we need you most your too busy farming for gold to help us...you guys suck" our response was "well if we suck then bye" (and left guild asked above mentioned friends if the offer to join thier guild was still good will a "h*ll yes respnse and instant invites). then in whispers old guild leader starts telling me he was only kidding and please come back. when I don't respond beacuse some random person we picked up was nice enough to take the quest at the begining and we were all fighting to keep the ghost alive he tells me "your bing a b*tch by not answering why cant you just respond."

glad i left that...the guild were in now is great they are awsome. Friendly active always willing to help people. We had one member fairly new was obssessed with getting poison arrows for thier ranger...so a few of our members stopped what they were doing and helped get me and the other person to the poison arrows (i had just started a ranger as well and they figured they were helping one person why not make it two).

mine has the best gvgs ive ever had in a guild. two nights ago we were pushed back into the guild lord area with 60 dp, and only 2 were alive. the flag runner managed to get the flag out, and we all rezzed and pushed them back. we eventually pushed them to 60 dp, and we had 10 morale, and then victory or death was called. we owned the bodyguards, and then the guild lord, ending it.

Hah, I know this feeling all too well.. I joined a guild in November, about a month after I bought the game. At first everyone was around fairly often.. but last time I played (yesterday) all my guild mates hadn't been online for something like 3 weeks (lowest) to over a month! (highest).

But hey, we have such a cool cape! At least I have that going for me

You know your in a good guild when

They offer advice on beating your double.

They schedule certain days for certain events like Fridays for running people from where ever they might be in ascalon or kryta to the desert and all the ascending missions.

When they schedule a day for power leveling or farming as a group.

When they give you money to pay the runner at Elona so you can hurry your ass up and ascend lol

When we all trash talk the wifes in a friendly mannor, wishing our wifes were as cool as those of the guys who joined GW. My wife just won't play damn it!

When someone logs on and says "Heya" everyone responds with "Hey, sup?" or something along that line.

When a guildmate gives you 4 green mesmer items for you new mesmer because your a guildie, your a mesmer and he claims mesmer greens don't sell well. Fine by me!

When someone gets to Droknar and sees the prices of armor, we all help out pay materials or gold were we can.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Now Your in a Bad guild when...

After a month your the only one on and the officer finally shows up to say "sorry... guild is closed... bye!

When fellow guild members whisper you "hey... leave the guild with me, got a cool invite to *names another guild* and gets mad when you refuse. Your loyal to a guild until it pisses you off.

I am in a very good guild. To me that means the people are online often, always enough to form a full party. We all help others on missions but nobody is being run anywhere unless there is a reason other then rushing through the game. Almost daily i am in a group to do anything with other guildmembers and every saterday we have a guildevent that is announced 6 days upfront. Last saterday we had a "guildhunt" (farming in SF and FOW). The saterday before we did PvP in tombs and next saterday will be a guild Hell's adventure because some people in our guild have trouble finding good groups for those missions.
All people are very friendly and the best is what you need to do to become an officer: You have to be in the guild for at least two months and prove you are helpfull and mature. If you often help people on missions, you give ideas for saterday events and you show you are a mature player, you can become an officer.
All members in the guild know eachother by their real names.

Pretty much sums it up for me. Just recently joined a new guild as my previous one has been dead for a while. They're all pretty nice, and joke around a lot, but once we get GvGing, we harden up and own on the opposition. Great fun that.

I'm a guild leader and I think our guild is pretty good with the exception of some new members that don't happen to work out because they start abusing other members...or sexual harassing them...I take a vote with whose online and that's usually 60% of them and do as the vote is in favor of.

Mostly ppl are on everyday and we just started building for PVP so either we go in for fun or take the really experience players into tombs to fight. I must say though it isn't easy being an officer or guild leader sometimes you wanna help everyone who needs it and you have to constantly have money available for new deserving members who'd like to buy armor and/or new weapons, if you don't have it on hand...so between farming, assisting, dealing with a situation, selling items, GVG, PVP, running, missons and power leveling, recruiting there is a lot on the plate - so just trying to say keeping a guild together where everyone is happy and won't leave is hard. We've got 44 members and 34 are on everyday so i'm happy this guild is active.

Want to know when ur in a bad guild like i was before:
*Everyone ignores u
*There is constant swearing going on
*Ur leader is never on
*U ask for advice and get none
*The person who recruited u won't help u at all

sounds good runner!

so ill throw in an other question. Im in a small guild with around 25 members. im the leader but thats just the title i have the guild is ours. We miss each other online and just never have enough online for some gvg. We have alot of fun and have a good time. you guys have a good idea on getting some more members. Sinds recruting is not working in our oppinion begining players are likely to jump from guild to guild.
Im thinking on a merge with a guild with the same problem! so.... (ahum) are u in a guild with the same problem... contact me and we can have a chat

any ways the guild makes guildwars

Nah, thats a guild with good PvP players, doesnt make it a good guild in general or for everyone.

A good guild is a place where everyone is treated with respect, people get help when they need it and bad behaviour isnt tolerated.

Good is subjective. I happen to agree more with Zeru's definition than your own. When someone asks me if a guild is any good or not, I usually think in terms of GvG PvP. Having said that, I think there are some good guilds that aren't going to Taiwan, such as Uni and ZPZG.

Once upon a time..

I agree with Paul (as always ). Besides, arguing that the definition of a "good guild" revolves on respect, helpfulness and politeness, while at the same time excluding other definitions of "good" (PvP skill, ability to get things done in a quick, efficient manner, etc) directly contradicts your first statement that one aspect doesn't make a guild good "for everyone." In other words, subjectivity!

Also, what's to say that the guild going to Taipei doesn't already meet those conditions of respect, mutual support and even a basic grasp of common manners? Teamwork is teamwork, and well, it's a bit hard to communicate when emotions are raging, grudges are rising, and members are rage quitting left and right.

Of course, Trexton and Kriegar are exceptions to the "respect" rule.

A good Guild is one where you feel more like a member of a family than just a bunch of moderately aquainted strangers.

A lot of the members in the Guild I'm in have been gaming together for many years, and we try to get together at least once a year. Regardless of what game we play, new members are always welcomed and quickly become a part of our family.

Over the course of almost a decade of existence, only 2 people have been kicked from the clan, and only 1 of those people was exclusively a GW player.

In my opinion, a good Guild is one that doesn't randomly recruit people, but rather has a set of criteria that must be met first before someone is considered, an interview second, and last but not least - a general agreement between ALL members that the potential recruit will be a good addition to the family.

That's the way we've been doing it for 10 years, and considering less than a handful of people have ever actually left the clan I would say it works quite well.

I had a guild once that had this trange habit of demanding attention whenever an officer came online. Its great to chat when you ge thte chance, but if you are int he middle of a PvE mission and can't afford the time to chat aimlessly to other members, there's no reason to get arssy about it.

I'm happy to say that I'm in a great guild now, which is fairly new but with experienced players. it's alos good that they, like me, have been mostly into PvE and are just exploring GvG etc. so we can learn together.
