Hey everyone; hoping to establish some connections in-game by signing up and posting here, since as much as I have been enjoying the game, it does get lonely by yourself.
I started roughly a fortnight ago and have to admit my expectations for the game were not too high, but I severely underestimated how great it is. I did find it quite difficult to start with (especially Factions), but a bit of research (well, alot) soon eased the strain.
Difficulty is not an issue though, and I do like GW's take on it: forcing the player to improve themselves to meet the difficulty rather than lowering the difficulty to meet the player. I only have one issue with the game, which I will admit right away is unfair considering the little experience I've had with it thus far, but it is the community. It has only been a handful of experiences but everyone I have met has been surprisingly hostile to me as a new player; for using henchmen, for wearing bad armour, for not skipping cinematics, for being new, etc (all things which a new player typically does) - which has made me cautious about approaching people in-game. I just don't do it. However, as I said, as much as I'm enjoying the game, it'd be even better to chat and make friends whilst playing - so, hi.
I hope that didn't sound ranty, and I hope people don't take any offence for my thoughts on the community (as stated, I haven't had enough experience with the community to make a more established point - and I'm positive there's plenty of great people out there).
My character's name is Aristotelian Philo, I'm a student in England, I'm nerdy and like books, I'm not actually boring. That's about it. Thanks for reading.

MMO Player
Hello All,
Purchased the 3 pack online in September, only 2 characters so far. No EotN yet but maybe after I get some lvl 20's right? I am learning the build system and I play using my PS3 joystick. That seems to work best for me.
The guild I made was mainly to keep people from bugging me about joining theirs.
I don't really know if I plan to advance the guild or not. After you get asked a few times and realized that it is costing them just to invite me, I made the guild to stop people until I am ready to join or build a guild.
I have played WoW and found it mildly entertaining but somewhat limited. I really hope to find more to do than just PvP. I get sick of everyone wanting to kill, kill, kill and not enjoy the quest. So the fact that GW separated the players during questing is a pretty good idea. I don't have to be on my guard looking out for ninja looters and assassins.
My highest level character is a N/Mo level 14 at present, her name is Red Death Witch. I hang out in the International District because I like the low traffic in there. Even though I am a lone wolf you are always welcome to toss a hello at me but I am not an online chatter. I will be happy to talk in the forums more.

Count Oc
Hello. I am a total newbie in this game and I really enjoy it so far. I enjoy hunting more than doing quests, but I do both so it doesn't get boring. Also, I like to talk so feel free to add me in game, my character's name is the same as here: Count Oc.

Well I was going to say something about myself but I see we don't get the warm welcome here...
Welcome to you guys above me.

Rhine
Hi,
My name is a Rhine... My GW account has been around since release (or shortly there after) and I haven't played in 4 or so years.
I was very much into PVP back in the day and was in a top 10 Guild at the time, but I started college and that free time went away. I'm now graduated and have been looking to get back into this wonderful game.
I was just wondering is there is anywhere I can find a comprehensive guide for non-noobs on what has changed? I'm assuming the game is radically different than when I left (I logged in today and found my old E/Me Ele Spike build I used in PVP and it brought back some wonderful memories).
I'm going to peruse around here as I haven't been back here in years and I hope to find some interesting posts.

Supp guys?
just returned to the game, so its been a year now, left a lot behind, 4 years of GW memories. anyway wanted to post here to reintro myself, I feel like when I return back into the game next week, all my friends will consider me unknown. anyway i'm a keen pve and pvp player, based on asian timezone due to work, initially i'm from europe (Portugal/England). see where this all goes. good to see a lot of new people joining the forum. I know for sure that this is the best place to be, helped me loads back in the day, was really insightful. hope to see you all in game sooner or later.

Hehe I didn't see this sticky before.
Hello everyone!
I've been back to GW for about a month now, after leaving it behind for several years (some time around the release of Nightfall). I've owned all four GW chapters since their year of release but haven't completed EoTN yet. I've been lured back due to a combination of GW2 talk in another forum I'm active in, a IEEE Potentials article about MMORPG, and being bored of single player games.
This forum has a lot of information that's helped me re-adjust so far, and it looks like the community here does a great job keeping the threads in check which makes it even better. So far it's been helpful to get me started with hard mode.

Tigara Zan
Hi all.
I am new to this forum, but not really new to Guild Wars-- well, let me qualify that by saying, I've been playing since the very beginning, but off and on. And it is only *just now* that I have been really kicking butt and picking up titles. I beat the Tyrian campaign last year (I know, took me a while. I got bored around Ice Caves of Sorrow), and beat the Cantha campaign.. last weekend. I'm right near the end of the Eye of the North (I think it's the battle against the Great Destroyer) and what really spurred me on was 1) special items like spectacles and such.. well, some of them look stupid, but I had to have those dragon gloves.. and 2) the idea of collecting stuff for my hall of Monuments and titles. I've pre-ordered GW2.
I don't know why it motivates me, but man, it totally does. I am just about to complete my elite luxon armor (still have to farm some more jadeite out of the Jade Quarry), but here I am wearing one of my prized outfits: Asuran armor with dragon gauntlets and spectacles.
Tigara is my 2nd character in the game, and has celebrated every birthday since 2006. Here's what she used to look like. Back when she was just a kid, (haha).

Here she is after just having reached Kryta. I was so amazed at how pretty tropical Kryta was compared to Seared Ascalon and the bitter cold of the Shiverpeaks so I took a screenshot.

This is the longest I've ever kept a single character as an avatar.

Hello !
Not my first post, but thought I'd say hi.
My name is Katie, I've been playing for a bit more than 5 years now. I want a pony. My main is a ele, and I change the way she looks and her armor too often. Irl I do some commissions for digital drawings, and photo retouches. I really want a pony. :P Cant think of anything else right now. I've got most of the stuff I wanted in the way of HoM points and titles, so Im playing mostly to talk to my friends and help others out. I still want that pony.

Hey all, on the site now figuring out which to buy - can't wait to dive into this game, it seems huge.
Quick question:
I am not on a budget, should I just go ahead and buy Trilogy + Eye of the North all at once? Or should I buy Eye of the North after I finish Trilogy?
The whole "chapters" thing has me confused.

EoTN is essentially an expansion pack, but it's well worth it.
My advice is to just buy trilogy and EoTN. As a new player, it may also be useful to buy the PvP unlock pack from the ingame store, since this unlocks these skills for your heroes (basically customizable npc henchmen/sidekicks) too.

Hello everyone! My name is Kris and I used to play Guild Wars a helluva lot. I quit sometime around 2009 and tried to log in again to find I've forgotten not only the password for my account, but I can't access my old email account either haha!! (I dread to think of how many presents I've gotten :S)
Anyway I'm going to be looking to get back into GW after a spree of other MMOs, mostly WoW, Rift and SWTOR, in preparation for GW2. This means I'll have to start from scratch so I'll be looking for a guild that is still active and looking to take on players (did a few HM dungeons and a fair bit of arena PvP). Anyway thanks for reading and get in touch.

Just stopping by to say hi. I've been playing now for only about a month, but am enjoying myself a great deal. Having lurked here for most of that time, I decided to finally post my "hello" in these forums.

Since I'm new to the forums I figured I say hi!
I bought Guild Wars about 2 years ago, but wasn't able to play it much because of school. I'm now starting to get back into it, especially with the sequel coming soon it has me really excited to play again! Mesmers are my favorite class and the reason I got into the game, I also have an in-game guild that I am working to revive. In real life I'm an artist, and I even tried out for the ArenaNet internship that they had back in September; however sadly I didn't make it.

Well, this is my first post here. I wanted to get involved with the Guild Wars community. I don't have a whole lot of Guild Wars experience. I started playing GW last summer and had a lot of fun. I beat the Prophecies campaign and then didn't play for a while. I'm now working on Factions and want to finish the rest soon. I bought my firstgaming PClast spring and I haven't really gone back to consoles since, lol. The game highest on my must have list is certainly Guild Wars 2. It looks soooo good, as I'm sure all of you on here agree.
Also, I finishedGhostsof Ascalon last night. I read it in just a couple of days. What an awesome book!!
So in closing, I'm just pretty excited to get to know you guys and I hope you're a cool community. I've been involved in the Blizzard forums for a while and I got really tired of all the trolls and hate going on there. Definitely the most negative gaming community I've ever seen!

I bought my first gaming pc recently too. Sure is fun.

Hello everybody! I've recently bought Guild Wars Trilogy, but I haven't had the time to play it too much until now, and wanted to join the Guild Wars community.
Miomoon
Greetings! I'm Mio! I've been playing GW1 for 6 years, still missing my gwamm (currentyl 22 points in HoM..) and the damn tyrian cartographer, lol. I play SoS and UA monk. I've never been pvp player,( except some attempts on RA) due to lack of good guild etc.
I had a big break from the game, year 2011 was especially inactive, and in these 6 years I've ALWAYS missed the halloween event! Always, even when I played very actively, lol.
Now I signed up for the GW2 beta and pray for Grenth that I'm chosen, haha.

Good day to you all! Due to the wonderful community response I was introduced to here on this forum in response to a question I had, I was persuaded to buy the trilogy and get into GW in anticipation for GW2! I look forward to receiving generous help from all of you pleasant people

I recently purchased the Trilogy and am awfully wet behind the ears! It's nice to see that there is still an active community here being that I am starting fresh so late into the grander scheme of things. Hoping to find a good guild with vent and make some new friends here. My main intentions was to get into the HoM for GW2, but it looks like I have a long way to go in that regard...but its the journey and not the destination that matters

Hello, new around these parts and to GW.
Looking forward to GW2 and trying to get some HOM rewards and I'm surprisingly loving the game although damn there's some tough missions!!
Just a shame the game came out when it did and I pretty much dismissed it due to another game that doesn't need to be mentioned!

Welcome, There are a few rules indeed, what they are differ from category to category, so best thing is to check the sticky topics in every category. Most rules are very obvious though and although the admins are quick in closing/moving topics, they don't bite (atleast they told me).

Hi!
I'm new to Guild wars and this forum. I've been interested in Guild wars 2 and thought I would get into this before it arrives. I know i'm getting into this HUGE game very late! But i'n glad to see that there's still a big community!
I've just started up with the Prophecies campaign but am not that far into it.
I'm hoping to learn some new tricks as the game is very big and daunting at first! Looking forward to meeting new people and maybe joining a guild!!!

Hello again GWG! This is introduction #2 for me since I had to register again because I forgot my account details from last time, no big loss, was not very active anyway
I will write the info down this time
I think I'm having a fresh start everywhere now, as I came back from my break to discover that my main account was hacked and terminated... At the moment I am playing on an a mule until anet decides what to do with my old account
I am just in time for the Bday celebrations so i think it's time to enjoy the game again and stock up on party items while they are still cheap! I am broke at the moment so I might have to let go of some of the items i kept on the mule -_-
Good to be back

Catastrophic Moggy
Hi peoples and malevolent internet entities.
I'm just starting out into the world of Guild Wars after buying the trilogy set.
I got interested with the series after falling in love with the asura :P
Though I won't be playing GW 2 until later in the year at the earliest. Most likely won't be until the start of next year.
See you around - Moggy.

Hello Guild Wars community. Long time player here since launch and now coming off a long break since GW2 came out and I recently bought it a few days ago. I see a lot of hate over on the GW2G forums so that's why I'm still over here, where everything is positive, haha. I never used to post a lot but I'd read a lot for builds and such back when I played. I'm not coming back to "Guild Wars 1" or "Guild Wars 2", I find it better to say that I am coming back to Guild Wars as a whole. I enjoy GW2 but I also enjoy and will always enjoy GW1. Owning both makes a nice gaming experience to just switch between them. Anyways, just stopping in to say hi and hopefully see anyone out there. I still have a lot to do in GW1 and of course do what GW2 has to offer. Hopefully there are still some active, newcomers, or even vets like myself coming back to play Guild Wars as a whole.
Sister Vickana
Hi and welcome back!! I am still active in Guildwars myself and after reading some stuff from GW2, well I might not be going there for a while yet till things calms down a bit. For now tho GW is alive and well and still kicking!!
