if you're using W/Me, then what about mantra of frost? it reduces the dmg and gives u energy everytime ur hit. would mantra of frost be better or worse than elemental resistance in terms of dmg reduction?
just call me jimmy
i would drop watch yourself and put, (I Will Survive). Rust problem solved O_O

what conditions do the ice imps/golems give you?

Worse. Been tried, been posted.

Thanks for the Thread People!
I grabbed a HoD helm and equipped the skills after changing back to a W/Me and jumped in a group for my first shot at the run and except for no drops and a Horrible Horrible spawn (Avicara mixed with Trolls and Imps at the mouth of the cave) we didn't do to bad...
Who ever wants to know the difference of running north or heading due east - lets just say its shorter and you can practice on that first set of Imps and Golem.
The only really slow going I had on the 3 runs I did was when I tried to kill a Siege Golem with my only 2 attack skils - Severe Artery and Gash... yeah I will not bring that combo again.
I am tempted to go back to the Axe because conditions like bleeding do serious damage - I just have less maintence with the axe. Most likely I will just play with my skills.
*crosses fingers* I just hope I get more drops then 40 frigid hearts next time.

Thanks again for the build it took about 10 minutes to get a friend setup with a similar build - so just follow the directions and have some running experience and this is a no brainer!

Wouldnt this work better for armor:
Helms (as stated by kvn)
Plate/Wyvern chest (w/ sup vigor)
Plate/Wyvern leggings
Plate/Wyvern gauntlets (w/ minor swordsmanship)
Ascalon/Knights Boots (w/ sup absorb)
I believe that this would put you at max dmg reduction w/ ur armor/ -5 armor alone, -7 w/ CCS(stances), -8 w/ CCS(hexed), -10 w/ uber shield (-2, -3)
then u got ur ele resist on top of that

I can't remember what the original armor setup that was recommended but I will tell you what I use:
15k all the way:
Gladiators Chest - Sup Absorption
Gladiators Gloves - Minor Sword (will change this back to Min. Strength or Axe)
Gladiators Leggings - Minor Tactics
Ascalon Boots - Sup Vigor
My helms I use:
HoD Liutenants Helm for running to the Cave.
Droks Strength Helm w/ Sup Strength (+4 Strength)
My Shields I use:
Crimson Carapace Shield 16(9 str) -2(stance) +45hp (stance)
Crimson Carapace Shield 16(9 str) -3(while hexed) +60hp (while hexed)
Att Points:
15 Strength (11 + 4)
12 Tactics (11 + 1)
8 sword or axe (not including any rune)
3 Inspiration
Swords or Axe:
The sword I used last night has a +6 vs Ele damage (shocking and barbed hilts)
Axes both have +7 vs Ele damage (Furious 10/9 and Shocking)
This works Perfect! (at least for me)
Sorry about reposting the build over and over again... but this is my running armor and it works fantastic for this build... no issues so far.
btw... if you can do the droks run running through the Avicara should be easy for you.

Just asking, sorry if its been posted, whats the point of the zealous mod? Why would you have energy problems the only skill that req energy is mes skill, which is only 10 energy like every 40 sec. I just dont see why zealous is needed.

Its not needed at all... unless there is something special about the Ice Beast that needs a zealous mod... but thats not the case.

is it possible to solo ice imps with a W/mo without ele resistace?

It's possible to solo Ice Imps with a pure warrior skill bar. So yes.

The trolls can make it difficult - what I do is generally wait until the troll is closest to me and then I hit him with my long bow to pull the group.
After pulling the group, I've been hit with "Mind Freeze" already... I try to walk away from the group- the imps all have ranged attacks and obviously the trolls don't. This pulls the troll in close to me and if you have the cave wall or that hump in the ground in front of the wall you can avoid getting hit by roughly 90% of the imp attacks by just positioning yourself on the other side of the hill or wall (they can't attack you through the walls and I don't think they can hit you with Mind Freeze either).
If I can position myself properly I don't need Ele resitance and I can hack away at the troll until its dead then put my stance on and go.
!Always have Dolyaks Signet Running!
~~~~~~
2 Trolls:
With two trolls and no cave walls or hill in the way - keep ER up because the imps will tear you limb from limb - the way I take care of the trolls first is by running a furious 10/9 axe and keeping Dolyak Sig up as well as Watch Yourself. If Your going to heal make sure you've looked at both Trolls and watch for Disrupting Chop. Healing Sig is quick enough you can get it in and finished before they finish doing disrupting chop.
~~~~~~
2 Trolls and an Siege Ice Golem = Death ... or very very long and interruptable healing.
Hope thats of some help to ya.

With the following I don't have any trouble with Trolls or really anything else up there
Galrath Slash
Desperation Blow
Defy Pain
Watch Yourself
Dolyak Sig
Healing Sig
Ele Res
Sprint
I find after you get comfortable with the run that charge is unecessary so that frees up an elite. When in tough against trolls and seige ice in any combo just keep your defy pain up and use the hex sheild since u will be rusted etc. You have tonnes of life and an additiona 20 armour from defy pain so you take very little damage and don't really need to cast the healing sig till the troll/trolls are dead. once they are u aren't taking any damage from anything and won't be interrupted so you can take all day to cast it if u need before smashing any seige ice's that may be present.
In general this is build (which I give full credit to the designers for, mad props)seems to be good for smashing most thigns in mineral springs. Giants/Trolls/Seige Ice/Imps/Shadows/Avicara brave and fierce

Well after the long debate about which way to run, north or south, i've decided south. For the first reason i don't go throught a mob of 4 avicaras, and second when i die from some stupid reason at the cave, i don't go spawning at the start of mineral springs.
Also theres something i wanna bring up about bad avicara spawns, i've found that with enough pulling and patience you can kill the avicara groups that tend to spawn with the ice imps. After running i've noticed that theres sometimes a lone avicara chasing you forever, and thats the key to beating em. First, aggro them all and use sprint and charge at the same time once, once a spellcaster has just used a spell, with a bit of luck you got a follower for life. Of course this takes at least 15 minutes to kill them all, but i just can't stand running again ^^
well i'm done saying what i need, otherwise great build kvndoom.

Well I've managed to do this run with very basic gear.
I find the drop rate is much better with favor and the blessings help insanely...
Tundra Giants-Kill them, or just run, I haven't died on them
Ele Boss-Sit there, heal, wait for Iron Mist to die off
Persistent Avicara-Kill them.
I have all minor runes,Droks Plate,and a Victos Axe...
If i can do that run with THAT then you people should have no problem.

where do i get the recomended shield from?
how long does a run usually take (estimated time in minutes)?
how many ids can u farm in 1 run?
how much does this whole process cost altogether (about how many k)?

thats a brutal spawn, but when theres no avicara's you should be able to take out 2 ice golems, rust is the only problem, but with the right equipment and skills the damage you probably will end up taking is 0-3 from ice spear

I`ll field a few questions:
Gigamaster - as was stated, brutal spawn. I usually start over but read about pulling the Avicara and will try that next time I run.
teh uber haxorz - The shield comes from a collector in the Crystal Desert for 2 Bleached Shells. The actual run part takes about 3-5 minutes (these are all estimation as I`ve not actually timed it), once you get to the cave around 20 minutes depending on the spawn of trolls and sieges. Cost varies. I have the 1.5k armour that kvndoom has laid out which is 7.5k. If you need materials the cost goes up but I salvaged all my materials and Ettin farmed all my Runes for this armor. I actually had the helmet and knight boots so i was really only out the cost of 3 pieces of armor.
All I can say is read the entire thread. I use kvndooms set up (without the uber shield that I`m jealous of) and can make the run with no problems. I can kill the Ice Beast no problem. Only problem I have is getting the damn little Icy Imps to give up a sword! The tempted me the other day but it turned out to be a 14-20 Fiery Dragon Sword. I almost had an anurism when I finally stopped and realised. Lag gets me from time to time where it looks like I have a line between chickens only to be lag pulled back 5 feet and trapped, this happened about 3 times on the first bridge this week end.
The Great North - South debate.
To me it`s a no brainer, always go North. The reason being is once you clear the cave, go out and die and your right back at the bottom. Step in and out of the spawn and your ready to go again with a full cave. 15% dp come off easily, if you have to fight the sieges and imps before the bridged you`ll take off 5-7% right there. It took me a while to get it done with Thunderwing or whoever the boss is that slows you but IF you do exactly what kvndoom has said, Doylak-spam Healing, you can continue on and run out.
So in conclusion, IF you read the thread and follow kvndooms guide, it`s easy. What`s not easy is getting them to drop the damn swords. I HATE ICY IMPS! That`s why I`m going to keep killing them till I get one.....or three.
Siege Ice Golems - try to get to them as soon as possible. I`ve quit trying to pull them out of groups and wait till they are by themselves, then I put up ER and hit Charge to get in as close as possible before being slowed, after that hit Doylak and start hacking. If you use Sprint it kicks off ER and your dead.
Trolls - If you`ve read the thread, you have to make sure your NOT healing while the trolls are using Disruptive Chop. If you do and they do your dead.
Lastly, nothing I`ve stated here is new. Everything is in this thread.

Hey guys, just offering some tips for those of you who have to fight 2 or 3 of the harder mobs at a time. What I do is, if I'm rusted, I never use healing signet. Just wait it out and as soon as rust goes away, quickly use healing signet. Secondly, if you have to fight a troll & a ice golem, take out the troll first and once again, don't use healing signet if you happen to get rust. The only thing you can do is wait it out. I've been able to take on everything inside the cave using the build, except instead of galrath slash, I carry desperate blow and bleed. I can take things out pretty quickly without much effort.
Lastly, it's possible to solo 5 azure shadows. I've done it and it takes a lot of effort to keep healing up and to keep dolyak signet up. You can take on 6, if you're lucky. I've done it 2 times to take on 6, it just happened that they all popped while walking slowly. The key to this build is to keep 2 things up and 2 things on your mind. Always have dolyak signet up and elemental resist up. The things on your mind should be: don't be scared if your health drops below 50%. Secondly, only use healing signet when both elemental resist and dolyak signet are up and never use healing signet when you are rusted or fighting a troll when he's about to use disruptive chop. Ok, so that's 4 things to remember Good luck.

From more running, I notice that I usually die at least once RIGHT before the zone to mineral springs due to slow/cripple/all that good stuff.

I die there quit often also but as stated a 15% DP is really nothing. If you make it to the cave that`s gone quit quickly.

Yep, i figured that out after I completed 2 runs both with 45% DP.

Just like he said - be patient with rust... wait for it to drop off and then heal. Normally with two Siege Golems they almost have a continous Rust going but in the few seconds they don't I can heal and then kill them.
I always go North on my runs. Occasionally I will run into Thunderbum and I've figured out I can sprint past him when they bunch on the bridge and 3/4 of the time he won't get me with his spell. If he does - dolyak and heal spam are your best friend.

Usually when I die to rust is because the whole cave is on me =)
Anyway, the ONLY problem I have right now is the cave entrance spawn.
ESPECIALLY avicaras.
Try to drag em = they kill me, THEN run back
Try to kill them = I get raped, the imps behind them DON'T help
Edit, more unsuccessful runs...
Possible dying spots [south route]:
Patrol Spot - impatience...:P
Right before Mineral Springs - bad spawn of a crap load of Stone Sumits, cripple + rape
Tundra Giants - usually when 3-4 are together, massive stomp/damage
Avicara Boss - Iron Mist/Arrow Rape
Cave Entrance - bad bad spawns, trolls, rusts, multiple avicaras
Spots I die often are the entrance and avicara boss. Sometimes giants, rarely patrol/before mineral springs.
