I had e-mailed this idea to Arenanet already, and they encourage me to post this as suggestion in one of their fan site. I guess they want to see if this is realy what players want.

This is a quote from the reply I got.
"Thanks so much for again contacting the Guild Wars support team. These ideas are excellent and something that I think would really improve gameplay and in game morale."

I thought maybe we can have somthing like "Mudball Fight" in the future. I been saying this for the past 2 days in game, so some people might had heard it. Personaly I dont see how girl mudfight help game morale, but its an idea

if they introduce 1v1 arena, they could add things like races (for runners) and survival mode (who survives longer vs a never ending swarm of pve enemies).

I actually like all of these thoughts (mudball fights too). The regular PvP gets very intense -- it'd be quite interesting to have an option to blow off steam or just do something a bit more lighthearted. As a mostly PvEer, I know that the usual intensity is what keeps me from bothering fighting in the arenas. I don't know that it would be as popular as the regular battles (especially over a prolonged time) and any new format is only as good as the number of opposing players waiting for battle. But it might be more successful hyped as an "arena map of the month" format, and add some more variety to the game. It'd also be an excellent way for Anet to test-play other ideas.

I favor the PvE side of Guild Wars, and I've done a small amount of PvP, but never really liked it.

But I've found that I'll head over to the Snowball Fight Arena to have some fun. Everyone is on even footing, and winning is dependant more on teamwork, rather than the skills/armor/weapon/runes that you have.

If ANET had something like this all the time, I'd definately PvP more.

personally i prefer a arranged pvp, there are some guild mates i would love to pvp one on one with. or just to fight among each other to see who has a better build and decide who will become what for HoH and such.

i also like these other ideas. since i'm doing this at work and i can nvr get online back at my relatives place, i could nvr play guild wars. so i nvr had a chance to play the snowball arena. but it seems really fun since its different from our usual pvping, pveing.

right now i cant think of any ideas on what mini games ANET could use, so i thumbs up for the mudfight. maybe give special costumes for the mudfight at least, cuz you dont see on tv chicks mudfighting in armor. =P

The snowball arena is great, and if it stayed after the wintersday event, it would even better, its a fun and fast little game

Maybe Anet should make an Elite version and a noob version, that way all the elites who whine now can play in a designated elite arena, and all the elites who are just having a ball, can continue to relax with the rest of us in the noob arena.

yeah, but only in droks arena version....
shiverpeaks one near yaks bend area is random so that you have a choice

mudball....that might be ether a good thing in maguma jungle, or a reallly dodgey thing....
*picture the hordes of fanboy elementalist girl characters playing in their underwear and offering to charge peeps to play mud wrestling with them heheh*

maybe set up the choice between Test fight *1 v1*
practace *2 v2
and normal *4 v4

the elites can play in droks, since theres no increase in points between the droks and peaks arenas. and they get to use strategy by selecting team members first...

oooh, and add a snowball/mudball/sandball fort one, where you can choose between hitting opponents, collecting and returning item and hitting the fort wall to weaken the other team

That's almost understandable. People are used to trying to win. The REALLY funny thing was the forum posts 5 minutes after the arena opened (not on this forum) complaining about balance issues.

edit: On topic, yes, more types of slightly less serious pvp, especially if it has different goals, would be sweet. Obviously. Don't know why this even needs to be asked.

But I find the snowball now is extremely monotonous. It was fun when playing it casually the past 2-3 days. Any more than that and I rather play in Ascalon arena.

ANet just needs to fix Ascalone and Yaks Bend Arena so people are not using elites skills and Droks armor. I would hate being a level 8 and being pelted by Poison Arrow.

They also need more arenas with interesting terrains (like in GvG with catapults, locking gates and Sentinels.

Winning or losing in a Snowball fight gets you a present, would there be something similar to this in the post-wintersday minigame? It would be pretty fun to get presents depending on what season it is.

what about 1 on 8... the 1 who plays alone gets something like 1500hp and 120 energy and plays with random build (but if u have 12 attribude points, lets say on marksamship you mostly get marksmanship skills)...

Number one reason I don't play PvP nearly as much as I used to. They should add the Ascalon, Yak's Bend, and the new PvP snowball map to the Competition/Team Arenas as well as any other maps they can throw in there. A Capture the Relic map wouldn't hurt either.

1-on-1 is the best idea I can think of..I'd never do stupid stuff like mudball fight more than once or twice.

But a dueling scenario is great.

God bless Runescape, but one of their good features is a Dueling Arena where you can set your rules for the match, and bet on the match.

snowball fight is great fun because everyone gets similar skills, and the same hp and energy. armor and weapons don't make a difference so you can dress up however you like which adds to the fun hehe.

i personally like racing games and find it great fun racing in infusion runs. that would make a great mini game, you're not fight against each other but rather racing using your own skills. a mini game like the infusion runs would be great.

or a racing game w/ little karts, wagons, or something. i want to ride my pet! =)

food fight arena - apples, pies, etc. and if someone got hit by a spiked eggnog their screen would all all crazy

relic style arena like snowball - but you're collecting globs of ectoplasm and shards for your npc avatar who wants to craft fow armor lol

a save gwen from the charr minigame!

maybe a football arena?
4 players on each team, 1 goalkeeper.
Use spacebar to choose the power of your shooting and maybe its goal, maybe the ball will slide to the opponent....

I don't know why they took out relic runs from 4vs4 arenas at retail. They were the funnest part of these arenas.

I like the mud fight idea, if it's similiar to the snowball. It was very fun to have everyone on the even footing...keep it random too!
I don't like the 1 vs. 1 idea. Oh..ranger pindown, interupt, runaway, pindown, interupt... ....no thanks. just my 2 cents. Otherwise 'Bring on the Mud'!

-string your bow and fire an arrow! Let you pet catch the arrows using his 1337 skills or H4xors!
-obstacle course for you pet! See how long it takes for you pet to get through the wired fences, the tube tunnels, and the mud pits!
-Teach them to dance! Train your pets using DDR Arcade style!

snowball fight... now some of u might say this is good coz its balance... well it is good for low lvl characters coz its just as easy to kill high lvl characters as low lvl ones... and low lvl players get far more exp than high lvl killing low lvl....

also the game is too slow... 1 normal competition arena game takes 2-3mins average. but 1 snowball fight takes more than 5 mins.... now to get the same amount of fractions i need to play snowball for twice the time.
