I think the Ooze Pit is doable too with 600/smite.. I've not tried it myself yet tho.
The Stalker & Skale build works well for the Fog Nightmares as well in the Black Curtain.. dropping lots of Glittering Dust and necro tomes.
You probably just need to practice. Just use Dolyak Signet and Bonetti's while VwH is down and you'll be fine.
