Bosses seem to get a free hex removal when they use a (specific?) skill. For me a grawl boss lost 2(!) necro hexes while doing a warrior hammer...

Yes, but the elites you capture (all except one) get taken out when you enter a outpost/town.

The max damage for a hammer is 19-35 damage, which means your 17-33 + 14% damage while enchanted is not so great. (14% longer enchatment duration...

Some stances have the drawback of ending when you use a skill, others dont end if you use a skill (stances always get replaced by other stances).
