I've cleared it awhile ago and only 2 dropped. One of those spiders in the first area dropped one, not sure what dropped the next one though....
I think mesmers work better as shutdown/interupt mesmers for this mission.

To me the most easiest way to beat your double is just emapthy + distortion. Cast empathy and then distortion and just strafe around.
