Reasons why I think Nightfall will have content for Canthan exclusive Professons
Solar Light
When anet added in factions, they added to core skills and added in the new profesisons, which in the end, all the professions had a equal number of skills.
if they add in nightfall and add in core and Elonian professions, and forget the canthans, the canthans will have the lower number of skills and unbalance things.
Of course, since the 'sins and rits are canthan excluseive unless anet makes it otherwise, i think making them will stay in cantha, same for getting them as secondarys, but there will be added skills in Nightfall that a traveled sin or rit can aquire.
Edit: I would also assume the same for armors at minimum, anet does need to keep a balance between classes and they cannot add new content for cores without casuing troubles, i cant say the same about weapons or greens in Elonia.

.......Guild Wars Nightfall will continue the tradition of inviting players to immerse themselves in an epic storyline centered in a vibrant fantasy setting, build personalized characters, compete in head-to-head battles with players from around the world, and find adventure in missions and quests, in a Guild Wars game unlike any players have seen before.
yeah right..thats what they always say

I really don't think it would happen, seeing as Sins and Rits are Canthans, and aren't Core Classes. I believe however, that you may be able to take your Canthan character to Nightfall, and play though the missions, ect. But not able to get new skills. Monks, Warriors, Elementalists, Necromancers, Mesmers, Rangers, Dervishes and Paragons will be getting the new skills in Nightfall. Prophecies characters got screwed over with the storage update, dont expect canthans to dominate all.

Rong, please tell me how thats related to my topic?
just doesnt seem pertenit to this at all.
and as i said, it would unbalence the game if everyone but canthans got a larger skillpool, the dervish and paragons will have to get introed with a large skillpool to stay in the same levels with core classes, or they wont give any new skills to core at all for this campain, which people will gripe about.
its just logical to think that canathans professions have to get content out of Nightfall.

They won't add content for Rit or Assassin in ch 3. Assassins and Ritualist already don't have as many skills as the core classes.
Anet already stated they don't care about previous chapters, they didnt give Proph the storage upgrade, they won't give Factions any new upgrades after chap 3 comes out.
Of course you can take your Canthan characters to chap 3 - IF you merge-, but if they are not core classes dont expect any new skills/elites/armor.
They can't afford to support all new classes in each new chapter, way too much work for them. Each is a stand alone game with no content for anyone aside from core classes and that chapters new classes.

Has it not already been stated that the core professions will be supported through out all chapters, and that new professions will only be supported by the chapter that they where introduced in. IE.. Assasins and Ritualist will only be supported in chapter 2 [Factions] as will the Dervish and Paragons only be supported in chapter 3 [Nightfall]
As far as anything else being balanced or not - I think no matter what they do, someone will have a gripe! Take the new storage for instance. The first day it was introduced into the game I actually had to turn off local chat because of all the griping about 250 not being enough.

Chapter 3 will add 2 professions, and new skills for the CORE CLASSES, not for classes from any other expansion. Remember that Core professions are NOT prophecies professions. It just so happens that the prophecies chapter didn't come with any classes other than the core 6.
Likewise, chapter 4 will add 2 new professions, as well as skills for the 6 core classes.
Here's a breakdown to make things simpler.
All GW Games
Warrior, Ranger, Monk, Necromancer, Elementalist, Mesmer, core skills.
Prophecies only
Core skills
Factions Only
Assassin, Ritualist, core skills.
Nightfall Only
Dervish, Paragon, core skills.
Chapter4 Only
New class 1, new class 2, core skills

lol after about 2 more years, each core class will have like 800 skills.

my theory was always that they would add some assassin skills but because they don't have npcs (like senji) that can change you into an assassin they wouldn't be able to unlock them.
Hrm, i'm a little worried about an over abundance of core skills. I would mind if they just reused teh faction warrior skills but that's coming from someone that will have all three chapters.

I do think they will, cause where have they stated that they will not support newer classes. 'Anet already stated they don't care about previous chapters' Then will we be able to use core classes in nighfall? Or get new skills/armor?? They don't care..
Bale_Shadowscar
Does this mean then for example, that there won't be any assassin or ritualist enemies in the Nightfall PvE?
Infinity^
I would expect factions to have an update at the time Nightfall is released, adding more skills to the assassin and ritualist.

New chapter is released old chapter forgotten about.
Why isnt it possible to add content to previous games.
IF MONEY IS A ISSUE then release the patches for older chapters with the newer games.
That way people who only like one game might be influenced to continue to buy the product you sell.
There is plenty of unexplained or good ideas which you could exten off, which you guys at anet started but never finished. Maybe more features/gameplay story for the whole kuzerick/luxon thing you guys started.
We will see how this new story new continent idea goes.

This whole subject goes to show just how difficult it's going to be for them to keep doing individual / stand alone chapters and trying to tie them all together in any way.
I understand *why* they want to do it that way. To encourage people to buy since they don't need previous chapters. But frankly, I really wish things were much more integrated and you did have to have each expansion. I can't help but feel this is going to be one huge mess within a couple more chapters.

Simpels as every new chapter will have 2new proffesion's that are exlusive too that chapter no less no more..
it's prety much just the PvP Player's that has win win situation here cause what's the point of keeping you'r Rt As,Etc.. when new chapter comes out since there wont be any new item's,armor's and such new things for them.

If they do not add new Rt/A skills into Nightfall, hopefully they will reconsider and add more for them in Chapter 4. It might actually be planned that way since the Rt/A dev team will be making Ch4 (and therefore is more familiar with Rt/A than the Ch3 dev team, one would assume).
Even if they did it this way (expansion classes get skills every other expansion) it still seems unbalanced in that the core classes will always be more versatile (so I hope they add more Rt/A in Ch3! )

While i usually Despise people who say "If i dont get i want, i'll quit Guild wars!"
in this case i can say, if there isnt new skills and content for the Ritualist, i wont be buying Ch3, the Ritualist is my Favorite class by miles, and if there is no new content in Ch3, then i know that there almost certainly wont be any coming.
thus my favorite class slowly falls into obscurity as the other classes grow
I doubt they will neglet the Rt/A , They'd be pissing off plenty of people.
We'll just have to wait for the 28th

Balance and Diversity for one, it would also encourage factions owners to buy next chapters, also, to keep people playing existing characters.. other wise they would get deleted for the new classes, then there would be no reason to purchase extra slots!
of course they will introduce news skills for rit and sin's.. actually, there is no reason why they would NOT!

Lots of ppl forget that the Prophecies campaign wasn’t the way it is today the day it was launched. LOTS and LOTS of content were added, new maps, new armors, new itens, new quests and everything else. I think Prophecies was put aside because they had more than 18 months to upgrade it and they did a pretty good job in my opinion.
This make me believe that they will add new content to Factions campaign owners as time goes by. Factions don’t have half the content Prophecies have, and Anet always says that each “expansion” ISN’T an expansion but a stand-alone game. If they expect to acheive that they’ll have to do some huge upgrades in Factions on the following months before Nightfall is launched, or even after that happens.
Maybe i’m being naive, but i believe in Anet, it’s one of the best MMO admins out there.

Think of expansion classes as Prestige classes in D&D.
I would like to see more skills for Rt/A as well, but that isn't gonna happen.
I also feel like 8 slots are too few especially for mesmer and assassin.

Personally, I think they should add new skills to the Assassin and the Ritualist in Nightfall to even them out with the core professions. But then again, playing my monk through Nightfall would be a hell of alot boring if I have no skills to gain.
NeHoMaR
Indeed is very easy add 10 skills to Assassin and 10 for the Ritualist in Nightfall, no need to add 25; With only 5 elites for capture is enough, or even less, let say 3 elites.
rong626
how many chapters will there be when will chapter 3 be offically realesed?
Vengal
If ANet does decide to forget about the Assassin and Ritualist, I will be abandoning the game. People are saying that there is no reason for them to give the Rt or A new skills, but once people start leaving in droves, then they'll have plenty of reason. I will not be spending $50 every time they come out with another addition to the game simply to be screwed over once the next one comes out. So, to all the people who are touching themselves over the sight of the new Paragon and Dervish: Ask yourself if the investment in the game is really worth it, if in the end they are just gonna ignore them as they could ignore the Rt and A.

And the numbers of skills for Ass and Rt are currently less than any of the core professions. Seriously, who say having the same number of skills to choose from means "Balance"?
Infinity^
I am assuming Rits and Sins will have an update of additional skills (from a factions update, not from nightfall) so that they are balanced in terms of skill combinations and gameplay with the new professions and updated core professions.
SpeedyKQ
Hm, apparently Anet didn't do a good enough job of communicating to people that they wouldn't be supporting sins and rits in future chapters. I'm quite sure that they DID say this. But it would have been good if everyone making a new sin or rit knew what they were getting into so they wouldn't be disappointed later.
Gawayne
More skills means more combinations, therefore more builds. The number of skills a class have influence the balance of the game in the way that a class with MUCH more skills than another will have more options, more versatility.
It’s easy to find a way to counter a class with just the builds X, Y and Z, but counter a class that have the whole alphabet of different builds it’s much more complicated. Anyone can see that Rts and Sins have a lot less builds and build combinations than the Core classes, obviously one of the causes is the fact that those are new classes, but another part of the problem is that they don’t have as much skills as the others.

Assassins and Rits not getting new skills seems to stick more with the MTG philosophy. When a new expansion came out, the old expansions didn't get more cards.
BTW everyone who buys Nightfall will be getting more skills, they just might not be for your favorite class. But with new skills there maybe even better combos for Rt/A with the new classes, or the new core skills.

Xenrath
From what I've been told, new classes introduced in a campaign will not be getting new skills and such in additional campaigns
In other words, that's your lot. I suspect one reason could be to "encourage" people to keep merging their accounts...

There's one thing I know for certain about Anet. They love skill balancing and updates. I make it a habit to never get comfortable to long in this game because I know that Anet is working hard to change things up for the sake of balance. Everyone worries to much! People are freaking out before anything has even happened. You would think after a full year of constant monthly updates from Anet that people would be use to the idea of updates and changes!
Retribution X
They NEED to add new skills for the Sins. Or I swear I either won't buy it, Or I'll call my lawyer...
Konrow
New skills will definitely be added. I mean you people seem to think that the core proffesions only moving to other chapters means that only the core proffesions can get new skills and access all lands. thats not true what they meants is you can't start as a sin or rit in chapter 3 but you can move your already created sin or rit into the Nightfall land. I'm sure there will be new skills for all classes otherwise the whole "balance" concept will be thrown out fo whack.
Shendaar
My thought exactly. I can't see them not adding new skills to the Assassin and the Ritualist. They are already short on skills compared to the core professions and I believe this shows greatly in their versatility in game right now. Every useful Assassin build turns around the same elite skill(AoD) with very little variation between all of them and there doesn't seem to be much practical use to a Rit beside spirit spamming.
SpeedyKQ
The understanding I have is that chapter-only classes can access all lands, but shouldn't hope for new skills.
antoninus
With every Chapter new skills will be added to the core classes. Hopefully they wouldn't neglect the factions professions (<3ing my Rit)at Nightfall or for any "Chapter only professions" for that matter because that would totally make them obsolete compared to how the core classes would grow and develop. But imagine after so many chapters and additional classes, new skills each chapter for each profession made from the previous chapters + the core classes.. the number of skills Anet would have to make will be tremendously overwhelming...

Factions is dead. It might get a new event if Nightfall doesn't come out before Halloween, but other than that, Factions is gone.
Anet doesn't even support Prophecies anymore, and I'm willing to bet that Prophecies outsold Factions by a serious margin. Look at the storage debacle if you want to know Anet's stance on supporting prior iterations.
Other than skill balances and maybe new armor, Factions won't get a shred of new content.
