[Petition] Profession Changer ~ Guild Hall & Hero window [H]
Tuoba Hturt Eht
merdle:
"With it in the Temple of Balthazar, it would be pointless to also have it as a Guild Hall NPC."
It would definitely not be pointless to have it as a Guild Hall NPC.
As others has stated, having it in the Guild Hall is much better:
- Access our Guild Hall by pressing G
- Click "Enter Guild Hall" button
- Click "Leave Guild Hall" to return back when you are done changing
As compared to having it in the Temple of Balthazar:
- Access Map by pressing M
- Screen fades out and whole screen is replaced by World Map
- Locate "Ship" on map
- Click on "Ship"
- Select "Temple of Balthazar" on the Drop Down Menu
- Click the green "Travel" button
...
Comparing the above 2 methods, it is very obvious that having it in the Guild Hall is much more effective and less time would be wasted on loading screens.
"Mapping is not nearly troublesome enough to require such an update."
If such an update would definitely enchance the overall gaming experience of the players, why oppose such an idea?
Why oppose an idea that would definitely bring more good to the community?
"And the H window idea is pretty ridiculous, That would be far too complicated for it's worth since there are soo many places to change profession already."
It would definitely be worth it:
- PvP-only characters would not longer have to re-roll to change their secondary professions
- Much time is saved on loading screens
"This would just require them to disable the secondary changer while your in missions or battles. Pretty much any time you could hit H and go change secondary, "
Characters would only be able to change their secondary professions only while they are in Towns or Outposts, this is not an issue.
you could go to the Temple of balthazar, or senji's.
Why waste the players' time with loading screens?

DeathShadowX:
Im against the idea that not only destroys a useful npc,
If the "useful npc" you are refering to is the Profession Changer in the Temple of Balthazar, then the "useful npc" is not "destroyed".
The Profession Changer in the Temple of Balthazar would still be utilized by players in the Battle Isles, or simply by players who are not in a guild.
"but makes the hero menu so much more crowded <_<.."
As Guild Wars progress, develops and evolves over time, expect the hero menu to be "much more crowed".
Personally, the Hero Menu has not changed that much in terms of visual appearance for me. Just that it has gained a few more clickable tabs.
Actually, I like how the Hero Menu has evolved into.
"Not to mention the fact that the reason pvp characters are instantly level 20 is so you won't feel any regret deleting and remaking them in the event you need to change."
The fact is that re-rollling characters is time consuming.
Time is precious, why waste it on re-rolling?
"Plus there is a NPC that changes pvp 2ndaries already, if you don't want to do a simple warp then don't complain for being lazy.
As stated before, time is precious, by being more time efficient does not equal being lazy.
"I mean it doesn't take more then a damn click or two, jeez..."
It does however takes much more time, compared to if we are able to change our secondary profession directly via the Hero Menu.

Who's with me on removing the attributes tab from the hero window and making it an npc? Just kidding, but that's why I love the idea of a secondary prof (or better yet build template) changing tab.
It's all about the hero window tabs.
Much more convenient than mapping. Why cause your to load a new area just to talk to the guy, then load back to your old area. My computer isn't the buffest, so it sometimes takes over a minute (usually more like 30 seconds through). Is a couple minutes (one each way) a huge deal? No. But this is a game, and conveniences make it more enjoyable.

I'm confused, this thread was already several pages back and more or less relegated to the trash bin. But now you have bumped it to the fore front to tell people not to bump it?

There can be a "Features you would like to see implemented for Nightfall's release" topic of discussion in the "Guild Wars Nightfall" forum, why not this?

/signed. The one think i like the most is the build templates changing. being able to switch from Rit lord to Rt/Me farmer in a click would be so usefull instaed of spending 2-3 minutes switching gear/attributte points/skills
also making your own PvP templates (INcluding gear) would be excellent.
no longer will be guild have to wait for 4-5 minutes while i switch from my RA mesmer to a ranger spike build.

BUT there must be a quest to unlock it after you have ascended and unlocked the secondary profession. I fantasy a quest killing bosses from each profession.
Yes to unmatchedfury, "saving" your builds to use them at will in a single click. 3 slots for me: My Fire, mi Air and my Healing ones.

From the early preview screen shots of Nightfall, it appears that we would be able to save build templates.
I believe the functionality of the builds template could be further utilized if our characters are able change our secondary professions through the hero window.
Please state your reasons if you are against any proposed feature.
Please do not hesitate to announce your support or objection regarding either proposed feature.

Only have to map to one town. Temple of Balthazar. Easily accessiable from both continants by using the boat on the map. Are you all that lazy that you can't zone to just one town???

oh COME ON SaucE. Think about it. Less time mapping around changing professions MEANS:: MORE time for groups to actually be outside adventuring/fighting/farming/questing/mapping/having FUN! Sure it doesnt take long for one person to go change prof, however, all too often, MULTIPLE people have to do this. This in itself ends up eating time...
sorry i had to rebuttle! Btw, people keep in mind we ARE NOT complaining, it is a simple request to Anet to make future additions. Don't take it as anything else.
cheers!

If you are after skill hunter title you know what I mean. I need to change secondary many times. When capping elites in Tyria, I have to check if I have the elite already say from Southern Shiverpeak (eek I havent done some of profession quests, at least Cantha more tolerable with Senji) - Temple Balthazar (oh I have that elite already) - Lion arch - Southern Shiverpeak to cap other elite.
Seriously I need it in my hero window.

Therefore, anet losing money. And i dont think they are gunna switch the battle isles any time soon, because everyone can always get to them, no matter what expansion. |

I like my GH its my base of operations so to speak, if im helping a guildie through the game and we reach the next out-post I tend to return to GH to visit storage, sell the junk and get some area relevant skills ect. One of the main advantages of a GH is the fact all the traders are in one place, allowing easy managment of items - Not running about for the best profit from traders instead of merchs ect.
A 2nd changer can only improve this, and as a monk changing 2nd's is not a matter of if but when

Oh, and signed to secondary profession changer (if unlocked) as well. In Guild hall is fine, on Character screen even better.

Although if profession changer is made available by simply pressing H which would save me and many others time, i dont see the point of then also having it at GH.

There is a profession changer in the Great Temple. They need to simply allow this character to be bought in the Guild Hall with the same functionality/restrictions so you don't need to map to the Great Temple every time.

/signed for having a Profession Changer in the Guild Hall, but not the Hero Screen. It's something that I've been wanting for a LONG time, and was totally shocked not to see offered when Guild Hall NPCs were introduced.
Of course, there would have to be certain requirements put in place, too.
Obviously, players couldn't change secondary's to those of an expnsion tha they don't own.
In my personal opinion, players should only be able to change Professions to those that they have already unlocked via The Path quests in Tyria, or at outpost in Cantha. This would help stop lower level players, and people who haven't earned the right, from abusing it.
And lastly, a pre-requisite of it's use would be that you're Ascended, but that goes hand in hand with the above since you'd have to be Ascended to have unlocked any.

Of course like ppl had said, having restrictions like unlocking the second profession through the quests in Tyria and Senji's in Faction. Hero window FTW!!!!

Updated original post to include updated signatures.
Comparing having a secondary profession changer in the Guild Hall and in the Temple of Balthazar:
To access the one in the Guild Hall:
1. Press "G"
2. Click "Enter Guild Hall"
3. Find and Click Profession Changer
(preferably placed in a very quick and easy to locate position)
4. Press "G"
5. Click "Leave Guild Hall"
To access the one in the Temple of Balthazar:
1. Press "M"
2. Wait 1 second for screen to fade out, map to fade in
3. Spend 1 second to find and click on the little ship on the map
4. Spend 1 second Select and Click "Temple of Balthazar" on the list
5. ....
Obviously we can see which one is the faster option here.
Time is previous, being more time efficient does not equal to being lazy.
