Hey guys, I know that there are 300 new skills coming up in Nightfall, and I am sure that there will be new skills for the 6 core professions. But will there be any new skills for assassins and ritualrists? As they are unique professions in factions, and not in nightfall. I am sure that you cannot create Assassins and rit in nightfall from the beginning, but you can bring the 2 proffessions from factions to nightfall, but I’m not sure will there be any new weapons, armour and skills for those 2 classes in Elona, the land of Nightfall. Any ideas?

Judging from the fact that you can't buy armor, weapons, or skills for assassins or ritualist in Tyria, I'm rather sure that there will be nothing for them in Elona.
Just think. Do daggers or staffs with ritualist mods drop ANYWHERE in Tyria? No. Will you find armor with runes for assassins or ritualists in Tyria? No.(?)
Add to that the fact that assassins and Ritualists have no Core skills, and you can clearly see that they are Factions only.

yea but wont they get a little help? i mean the ritulist channeling attribute just is horrible for doing what its supposed to do ( dmg or maybe even hurt something) and the ritulist restoration could use a little help to make them more able to fill in for monks ( god knows this game needs antoher healing class for pugs)

They made it clear that new professions will be chapter specific. No new skills, no new content in additional chapters. Only the core profs get the goodies. They are core afterall- shared by all chapters.
Edit:
Most likely skill distribution is the Factions format:
2 new profs 75 skills ea, 15 of which elites
6 core prof 25 new skills ea, 10 of which elites
Total: 300 skills, 90 of which elites
5 duplicate skills for each core prof likely, none of which elite

I think the way they going to upgrade assassin and ritualist is that they will have another chapter that feature one of these 2 classes with a completely different set of skills (with few duplicate).
Other than that, I am quite a firm believer of, "No, Assassin and Ritualist is faction exclusive, hence no further increase number of skills in Nightfall."

What's the motivation to play a non-core class then? How are assassins and ritualists supposed to compete with the changing game mechanics?
That's like giving someone a Homelands deck from Magic the Gathering, and trying to use it in a Ravnica tournament. The newer cards are simply more powerfull than the older ones (save for some exceptions mind you) but the analogy still applies to Guild Wars in a very big way.
If I had known my assassin would no longer be supported in subsequent chapters, I'd have never made him in the first place. I'm very disappointed in A-net if this turns out to be true.

Assassin players want to spend another chapter of not getting a group in missions? haha... gluttons for punishment... and no, I know Assassins are an effective class in their own right.
Personally, I can't think of any new skills my Ritualist needs really, she does what she does, and does it fairly well... Assassin copped a big delete-o... few days before the character slots came up for sale... damn! hehe.

well I guess there is still the new 2 class as secondary to try out.
But if they don't really work well with the faction classes and even if they do... the faction class will eventually get quite boring without anymore new things for them.
Part of a reason people play online games (besides to interact with people) is that everything is always changing, always something new. Giving us 2 static profession every expansion simply doesn't make much sense.
If anything I would rather get less professions and more support for existing ones.

The game is supposed to be balanced at every point. A task that ANet did admit is becoming more and more challenging with each new release. But basically what they are saying is: the new professions are complete as they are. They belong to only one chapter, whereas the core professions belong to every single chapter. And because they belong to every single chapter and there is only a certain set of shared skills between chapters (the core skills), new skills are introduced in every chapter to "fill in the gaps." Even though 7 chapters down the road the cumulative amount of skills for each core profession would've grown tremendously, the actual amount of skills per chapter per core profession remains constant. Does any of this make sense or did I overcomplicate my explanation? Bottom line: core profs are shared and they get a new look every chapter, non-core profs are chapter specific and complete w/i the limits of the chapter they belong to.
So I am right than, it is UNLIKELY that Assassins and Rituarists receives new skills/armour/weapons. Than whats the point of carrying on playing these 2 proffessions in PVE than... :S Yes, you can play those 2 proffessions in Nightfall, but nothing new for them, I really dont see the point... :S

Hopefully they will be expanded slightly, but if they go the way these posts sound, then they are going to be like "elite" professions from DnD. All the Core classes are rather basic(though ranger is rather unique in its skills), and the Factions and Nightfall seem to be self supportive. Plus it takes a lot more skill (in my opinion) to play an Assassin(therefore elite). Because of their drawbacks and supposed "brokenness" only the best players can play them to the extreme effectiveness.
oh, and by the way the occasional channeling staff does drop now and again in tyria. Haven't seen daggers drop yet, but i'll keep my eyes open.

I told you that Assassins and Ritualists would get gimped. They don't have core or any prophecies material, and it'd be short sighted to think Anet is really giving much thought into these games anymore. Copies of skills, only very few added per class because the bulk is added to create small, short jerk off sessions we call the non cores that lure people into buying later to find out they are screwed over. Good thing I didn't make an assassin or ritualist, it's almost like I foresaw this...

I love my PvE Assasin, Im even going to get her FoW armor, and as Nightfall will be giving me three slots, I will no doubt make a pve Paragaon AND Dervish
..I am taking my assasin through prophecies and will take her through night fall... I like these new chapters, its suddenly given me LOTS to do xD
That is surly not a bad thing given that MMO's advantage over GW is that they are much bigger, with lots more to do.
