Shiro'ken Farming

all i can say is wow...but one question what is the first skill on your bar
Dan Backblade
My guildie and I discovered that you can't use wand or staff because then the sins do shadow shroud on you!
DEVILMAN
Sektor this works in UW with a ranger useing Famine and EoE though its not quite as affective as the standard SS/SV necro duo. kinda slow against the Aatxe's as you dont have that many on you so not as much energy denial. Works well on the smites though.

After aggroing the last mob (you should have past alteast 2 mobs) move back next to where the rangers are standing that were following you from previous mobs. The warriors will move in to attack. Do this while maintaining Prot Bond and Prot Spirit. Why do you use Protective Bond? llsektorll

Nice tip, and FYI: Me/Mo and Mo/Me aren't the only combinations that can farm this
Granted they're probably better/faster/more reliable than that I'm using, but my monk isn't that far yet >.> Son of Urza
I like the huge purple cloud of Visage triggers around them. Looks like they have a REALLY bad case of Miasma or something . . .

I'm using your build ||sektor||, but how do you kill the rangers? They don't seem to die for me... Everything else dies though.

I'd say you're probably going to be left with a few rangers. If you can get the warriors and assassins to fight near a ranger mob then the SV/AV energy drain will kill any ranger in the area. However, since there are at least a few rangers in each mob some will likely spread out and be away from the AoE of SV/AV and won't die.
Leave 'em and collect your loot. mss

Gee, standing next to them so the AoE from SV/AV triggering affects them too couldn't possibly work...
Really, that's all you have to do. Group up the melee characters, run back so the rangers are clumped, then run slightly past the rangers so the melee characters are standing next to them. pryzmatik2

No need to get wise with me, I was under the influence that the effects of the visages only applied to the attacker. Vermilion
Well I spent a few hours using sektors build on my monk and mesmer...its for some reason easier on my monk but my mes needs the skillpoints..
For the day, I ended up with about.. 3 golds..2 GFB's and 1 Platinum longbow..bow was only one worth keeping.. 100+ Soul stones.. 17kish in gold (400-1k per run for me) 5 skill points..12 runs with berserkers scrolls didn't seem to help much.. I was too busy not dying to aggro the rangers..I typically left far too many alive..anyway <3 the build, etc, since its the only thing my mes can farm. llsektorll

you move up till u aggro all groups move bak to the rangers that follow you.. stand around them so the warriors follow to you. Kill them with edenial with teh warriors.
But if they are very much a problem then dont kill them .. i don't bother with killing the rangers. pryzmatik2

There are still alot of runs where they strip Mantra of Resolve right after I cast it, and then the visages get interrupted. (Sometimes Spirit Bond / Protective Spirit gets interrupted too) llsektorll

I had a problem where Warrior's were staying alive, as they wouldnt die as fast as the Sin's/Ranger's that I would stay near. In order to remedy this, I brought SOJ along for the KD (works fine even at low smiting):
Prot Spirit Spirit Bond Ancestor's MoR Sympathetic SOJ Essence Bond Balth Spirit I cast SOJ ~2 seconds after I apply Sympathetic. This causes the energy drain to be a bit more staggered, allowing the Warriors to die at the same time. (no need for MoR as they have no energy) This place is also good for xp grinding, though the <100% success rate does get annoying. Ecomancer
The build would have been a lot more useful had there been more shirokens to kill. I was set to try a ss reckless haste build using prot spirit and spirit bond with essence bond and balthazar spirit for energy - but too lazy =)
Thanks to the OP for sharing his build. XanderWhilkes
Thanks for this!
I spent several hours today running this area with my Me/Mo and had a blast. It was so quick that it was addicting. I would do a run thinking it was my last one, but it would finish so quickly that I'd do another one. The one problem for me is that I'm aligned with the Luxons and the Kurzicks held the Harvest Temple the whole time I was running this. I would have to hop over to another area to sell off my loot. I got two Golden Phoenix Blades (One +15% enchanted req 9, the other req12 that I plan on using with my IW build) as well as a couple of other golds that weren't worth much. I probably netted 5 skill points or so. I had considered bringin SoJ since the build didn't have any elites, but I haven't tried it yet. Once they were all aggroed, I would turn back to the ranger clump behind me and hit Mantra of Resolve and Sympathetic Visages immediately after. MoR would get stripped, but last long enough to let me get SV off. The majority would be dead before the first SV ran out, but anyone left wouldn't have enough energy to interrupt AV. I would usually only have two rangers left alive at the end of a run. It took me a bit to think of looping around to clump up with the rangers. I only ran with my pants and shoes from my 55 15lvl armor with two superior runes in them and the PS/SB combo worked beautifully. So if anyone here saw the shirtless male Me/Mo named Ender Alexander, that was me. While there, there was a fairly constant stream of Me/Mo and Mo/Me's running out of the Temple. Thanks again! *edit* I did get a couple of nice looking Platinum Wands. I don't know how much they are worth, but I will probably use one that I got for my Ele who is still back on the Island. It was Earth req9 with either 9 or 10% chance of skill recharge. Nothing great, but they look so nice. The other was Communing 10 req with +5^50 energy and something like Divine Favor +1(16%) or something. Phantom Gun
Nice. I spent an hour trying this out. Usually worked good until I was low on enemies then I would die so I could only grab some of the loot. Got a few purple items as well. Thanks for posting this.

Thanks a lot. I did it with my Mo/Me and it works wonders. I've gotten a couple purples and a gold drop so far. I make about 2k per run which isn't bad at all.

Okay the XP grinding here is insane...
With a double XP scroll I got 8,352 XP. Thats better then half a skill point, on a run that can be done in under 2 minutes! With a triple XP scroll I would have gotten 12,528 XP. Thats 10 skill points (150k XP) in an hour USING NO SCROLLS. So, um yeah. Stockpiling skill points for Nightfall, anyone? Oh, and I am working on optimizing the build (in terms of run success more so then speed), Ill let you know how it turns out. Dan Backblade
For the mo/me Blessed Aura is very useful because that can save your life in case of an interrupt (more time to get the enchants back up).

Yeah, what Ive found myself doing is dropping Mantra of Resolve and replacing it with.... Distortion.
On my Monk primary Distortion drains 2 per miss, and my enchants give me back 2 energy per hit. So, on average, I loose one energy per attempted attack against me. The block percentage still gives me a hefty chance to block interupts while its up, and even better, it will stay up longer due to the 75% failure rate Wild Strike now faces. Distortion will quickly end due to energy drain, but if you fail to cast Ancestor's, then you can always attempt to cast Sympathetic a few seconds later rather then 20+ like with MoR. llsektorll

Nice ill have to try it.. i usually hit mantra of resolve far before aggroing all groups for some reason it stays on if you do that. manitoba1073
I also use IW and conjure phantasm for theose pesky singles that sometimes r left. I dont use dist or mantra and ive tried archane echo the visages gives u three to use if 1 gets dist rupted. but since i seem to think they trigger there dist shots on u after u hit prot spirit when ur in i hit a visage before i hit my second prot spirit. i have less distruptions and with IW and CP it really dont matter if they have famine up or not lol.

This build is insanely fun, good job on it...Let's just hope they don't add mesmers or something...

Is it just me or have the assasins suddenly Started casting Shroud of distress like theyve never seen the skill before. My Last few runs have been disasters with the shrouds ruining my enchant casting

Thanks for posting this up ^^ i spent all day yesterday farming those shiro'ken with my Mo/Me and its really fun. I got 5 rares, 3 are usable (1 oni sword, 1 set of oni daggers, 1 set of korambits) and oodles of soul stones and a few skill points.
I actually started with just my kephket's refuge, i had to cast between shrouds...boy that was hard!! Till somene told me to use a melee weapon >.> so i borrowed a Razajan's Fervor. I still get some lone Shiroken Rangers or Warriors or Sins who were just outside the prime range of Visage (thank you lag for ruining my pulls -.- ), i might bring IW as suggested. I think double visage is gonna be permanent part of my spirit bond farming build ^^ Those wardens are gonna get it >.> scrinner
Im using a Totem axe but i have not seen them cast shroud of silence tell today, guess ill try it again a few times
Horible
Is there any other proffesions that can farm it? all i got is a ranger there, but im workin my monk there also.
Gonna experiment after i win halls ;-p J/k Horible TheMadKingGeorge
i might say a monk, ripost, glad defence. deadly ripost might be bale to would take ages though probally

This is what I've been running:
http://guildwarsguru.com/forum/showp...1&postcount=17 Though reading through this I might be tempted into dropping MoR for Distortion. I'll have to try it out tonight. |
