I think this would have a dual impact as it would give some of the less experienced player a chance at a perfect mod and also flood the market with mods and push the seriously over infalted prices down to a more affordable level for Mr/Mrs Average.

Secondly I think a new elite mission is way overdue...of course I have no doubt nighfall will bring its own versions but there are still a number of Avatars in TOA currently serving no purpose to the kneeling faithful. Far be it for the game designers to tempt the wrath of these as yet under revered Dieties.
Melandru with a forest area with lots of anti ranger critters would be good..can just see trees firing off barrage at would be treasure seekers for a weekend....spoken to a lot of peeps and they all agree the elite missions are the real test of a players mettle and, as you can tell by the attendance these areas have, they are greatly used and greatly liked......
WOW, that is an awesome idea, BUT, that should not be a weekend event, but a regular deal. I have always wondered why Grenth's Underworld and Balthazar's Fissure of Woe were the only other realms you could visit. Why not give Dwayna and Melandru the same courtesy? I just don't get it. GW, please help us out here.

ok umm I vote for no more weekend events but anyway, if I wanted a weekend I think a Double Monsters in certain areas would be a nice challenge. Umm double ectos and shards drop. oh and umm a reduced drop weekend but all drops are gold items or high amounts of gold would be nice, excluding the low level areas. Dont need everyone farming those areas. Also I vote we stop weekends for atleast to while to make Cantha's Sorrow's Furnace.

How about a "revert to 1st day" event?
Just upload the first version of GW to your servers.

A Return to Pre-Searing Ascalon weekend.

Ascended players could return to the old, pre-searing Ascalon during the event. Have new quests and stronger enemies, etc.

There should be a skill roulette event where for the weekend if somebody didn't have a skill in their skill bar then it would be filled with a randomly chosen skill from any profession in the game. But there would be some limits, like you'd only get a skill if you also have the weapon for it (so you wouldn't get useless ones), and if you get more than one elite on a random skillbar you could only have up to...7. I'd like this idea because it could be applied in both pvp and pve!

Monster skill weekend - For the duration of the weekend all of the monster only skills are unlocked for everyone to use and players can equip one of these skills at a time for PvP and PvE.

Survivor title weekend - Death count is reset on characters created before the introduction of titles, double xp is awarded for the duration of the weekend.

Triple attribute staff amnesty weekend - An NPC is placed in every major town who will convert all the attributes on your triple attribute staff to the same as the main req attribute

Make another "Shouts affect a wide area" event.
I say another because this effect was in use during the last Nightfall Beta preview event.
And i think people liked how shouts were working.

My own opinion about an event is the following:

An event should be something where you place new concepts and new interesting things that could be a possible permanent add to the game in the future.

Do events where you test new things and see the reaction of players, if the reaction is good, implement it in the game.

I think Anet is only making events that "suposedly" balance the game.
Let me try to explain this in the best way possible.

Lets see, during this Double fame weekend, they were trying to make more people discover the wonderful world of pvp, and lower the Rank discrimination, in hopes of geting at least a big couple of to rank 3. (which is where the real fun starts, since most groups are more inclined to accept a rank 3 rather than a rankless person or bellow rank 3)

The open elite mission weekend, clearly trying to interest people in these elite missions by simply making them more acessible and with double gold drops.
I guess it opened a few eyes to them, mine at least(specially the fact that they carry more than 8 players)

The double exp scrolls event I simply cant understand this one, its already quick as hell to get to lvl 20.
Why speed this process even more? Let low levels take their time, they will give more valor and be hapier when they reach lvl 20 for the first time without scrolls.

Anyway, i have nothing else to comment.

Heres a weekend idea , Double faction in Alliance battles but also add a faction transfer representative to the staging area before going into AB. Not only one for transferring to guild, but also a faction reward person for the coresponding amber or jade trades. Then after the weekend is over, you can be super nice and leave the faction transfer people in the staging areas before AB. So when we find a good team we like gaming with, we dont have to leave and go to guildhall or cavalon or house to transfer our faction potentially losing our newly found team-mates!. I think this would be the bees knees .

How about this for an event:

Have unrated Guild team (6 players per team) battles on "Burial Mounds" old-fashions style (6 teams against each other).

Or rather a special rating (with negative rating for camping/inactivity) and at the end of the weekend, the team with the highest rating gets a golden cookie.

I am in the guild that split from The Crusaders (the guild that freed Cavalon) when the fame farming got too much, but when we saw this what most of us were saying was, "Well, it is a step in the right direction, but hopefully ArenaNet will keep the elite missions open. If they don't all of our work on trying to keep the elite mission open to all was wasted."

Hopefully, ArenaNet will have seen what we did in the elite missions and never make something like them again. And, maybe, they will use one of their weekend events to open the elite missions permenently. I remember how much everyone liked the Balthazar's faction weekend when it went from two to 20 faction per kill, and they made that permenent

Experimental kick function weekend, PLEASE.
I know ANet are scared to implement it as it may be abused, but try and find a way around it and test it using one of these weekends.
Leeching is getting ridiculous.

Oh yeah, and a "Bring back /bug" weekend, so you can see just how many things are wrong with the game without insisting that people resort to the support channel.

This is exactly what we want, innovative things.

The current event (double exp scroll drops) is a possible atempt at making people realize how usefull they can be.

Although i personally dont agree with powerleveling, nor geting to lvl 20 fast, exp scrolls takes the fun of reaching it the normal way, infact i even remember when i reached lvl 20 for the first time with my first character, it was over an year ago, and i was really happy, anouncing to everyone in ToA " Whooo im level 20 yeeeeeeh" , until someone said "Bah another noob that reached lvl 20".
Anyway it was really great, and when things are hard you feel more acomplished when you successfully complete them.

So instead of trying to make something more popular, namelly exp scrolls which so many people find useless (except power levelers, people going for survivors title, and people who want extra skill points if they want skill hunter title), why not try testing something new, seeing the reaction of players and deciding to implement it or not if the players find it(or not) favorable?

In my opinion if players knew something new in guildwars was about to arise, maybe they would be much more inclined to play in this addition's beta.

The mentality of many players right now is "oh another double event, great, screw it i dont need double drops, im RICH" or "Bah i dont neet 2 times faction, i have everything unlocked" or "Pfff, i dont need double fame, im rank 12" or "BLeeeh, i dont need more exp scrolls, im level 20".

Anyway im not trying to sound harsh or anything, i believe i made what can be called constructive criticism, and I am in hope of geting replies that favor my point of view.

Instead of just double-weekends, some interesting event-type things, like when the gates were opening up during the dragon festival?

They don't need to be compplex with new enemies/graphics, but I recall when the scarabs arrived in the desert for example - similar things could happen - odd monsters appearing in new areas, a weekend long plague of undead crawling through the echovald, because some rogue student of Verata was about. Titans that had been dispatched, and landed on Shing Jea; a mission to defend the Shing Jea monastery, as waves of afflicted attack from the south (opening the area that is used for the "insignia" testing as an explorable with enemies for the weekend, allowing both mapping and some fun in there).

Since these mini-assaults/plagues are all based on existing enemies only the location/spawning needs to be done, with quests to spawn them for example? The idea of a dwarven ship having made it to Cantha, and trying to push the dwarves out of the Echovald/Jade sea sounds fun, bringing some exotic foes to those who only have Cantha so far, and letting us fight off our old enemies if we are Tyrian-born.

As strange as this may sound, I like the idea someone mentioned above. A limited time quest. One that could be completed in both Prophecies and Factions but does not require both. Hmmm... Perhaps even finish Gwens quest!
Now that would be cool.

* Optional: Reduced price for SoC's (but limit the number of SoC's you can "store" on a character!)
* Optional: Allow to have two elite skills in the skill bar

Mission Masters Weekend:
* Double XP/Gold for achieving Master's Reward on co-op missions (but not skill points!)

Cartographer Weekend: (a.k.a. the "Wallhugging Weekend" )
* Get a small reward (like 50 gold and/or 50 XP) for every x % of the map you explore.
-- x = 1% if you're < 80%
-- x = 0,5% if you're between 80 - 95%
-- x = 0,1% if you're > 95%

Challenge Mission Weekend:
* Double reward for Challenge Missions (Dragon's Throat, etc)
* Give PvP characters access to Challenge Missions

Blessing of the Gods Weekend
* Gods' blessing have double duration (40 instead of 20 minutes)
* Optional: Half price for gods' blessings (not for Kurzick/Luxon blessings!)
* Optional: All statues in explorable areas are active, regardless of which territory has favor

Shing Jea Quest / Mission Weekend
* Quests on Shing Jea Island become available for Tyrian characters. But: No skills or skill points are given, only XP and gold!
* Missions on Shing Jea Island give Tyrian characters a reward. But: No skill points, only half XP and half gold!

Dye Weekend
* Double drop rates for "standard" dye
* Tripple drop rate for silver dye
* Quadruple drop rate for black dye
* Optional: Add "test dyes" to the dye trader, available free of charge, so you can test any dye combination. All test dyes will disappear after the weekend and all items dyed with test dye will go back to default color after the weekend.

Morale Boost Weekend
* Double morale boost for killing bosses
* Half death penalty for being killed

Crafting Weekend
* Double drop rate for materials
* Double chance to salvage rare materials
* Slightly reduced prices at all crafters (incl. artisans, 15k armor crafters, weaponsmithes, etc.)

Collector weekend
* Collectors demand only half amount of input (rounded up)

Quest Weekend
* Double reward items for quests, but only the following:
** Monastery Credits
** Imperial Commendations
** Equipment Requisition
** Luxon Totem

Favor of the Gods Weekend
* Favor of the Gods for all!
* Half access fee for UW/FoW
* Double duration for blessings (see: "Blessing of the Gods Weekend")

Insignia Weekend
* Give Tyrian characters access to the Insignia quests (incl. skill rewards!), but make the opponent MUCH harder to beat.

... more to come ...

------------------------------------------------------------------

And last but not least I want to suggest not a special event, but a contest:

Name the Location Contest:
I love the fact that all the places on Shing Jea Island have names. I mean not only the outposts/town, but also the places in explorable areas. (You know, these little signposts.) It gives the island so much more atmosphere. You can feel that every place has some kind of background story. Why was that done only on Shing Jea Island, but not on the Cantha mainland?? Very often I looked at some extraordinary object or location and thought: "I wonder what's the name/history of this place!"

How about a contest? People should submit name suggestions for places/objects (identified by screenshot and marker on map), complete with a background story that fits well with the game lore. The winners' locations will get a signpost with the location name ingame, and maybe an NPC in the area can tell some of the background story.

Sorry, I know it's OT, but I had to use the chance.
yea those locations names you'd run across near water falls and little ponds were sooooo cool. i love the atmosphere if shing Jea islands and its a a pty so much care wasnt put into all of Cantha.

Are there any rewards for those little 'mission' areas (like Dragon's Throat) besides seeing your team's name on the high score table?

Perhaps an event pertaining to those? It'd be nice to hand out some kind of prize to everyone in the teams that are at #1 for each area+server at a given time of the Event. If there were physical prizes, they could be limited to 1 per account to prevent teams/guilds monopolising each mission area.

The thing is that there's no real *recognition* for being a whizz at these missions... that I know of, anyway. Perhaps a trophy at each of the map areas which records the ladder at the end of the event?

Anyway, just throwing some ideas out there.

A Gold Rush event (as in money not items) would be cool too. Though botting would be in full swing then

There are many players who cannot spend her rewards any more. Balthasar flames were a great idea. With open one got 1000 rewards. If one could convert rewards into flames, these could be at least even sold to other players. Then these could get faster in pvp. Everything happily lasts.^^ Even if this lasts only for a week-end.
I have extinguished my rewards by mistake.

This contribution was translated by machine. Sorry. It is also embarrassing for me.

Heres one that can benefit everyone if they wish to use it and not toally screw up the games economy No double gold drops double rare drops nothing like that... Have a set amount if different types of decently challenging quests and reward is some kind of collector item then turn these into a collector and you can Change your character name once...I am quite sure there are alot of people out there that wish they woulda named there Character something different then what they did and this would be a good chance for them to do it..Again mass XP or wealth is not the key to GW. and i beleive a weekend for name change would be a big hit and fun...

Heightened state of mind.

P/W

I have a great idea

How about reduce the cost of Skills "Mini" event, so people can buy skills without breaking the bank. Skills cost 500 gold instead of 1 plat, and unlocked skills cost 100 gold. Just one other change, make it permenant...

I think a "Shadow Steps don't suck" weekend would be good too, where Death Charge, Dark Prison and Heart of Shadows have their recast times reduced by more than half like 60% faster recast. That way people can enjoy their Assassin skills for a weekend.... Oh wait, that should be a permenant event too.....

OH I have another great one!, how about replay missions Weekend!, where you get exp, skill points, or gold for redoing missions, that way we actually have someone to party with in mission areas..... except every day.

Honestly I am glad Anet likes to give us special bonuses on the weekend, but outside of sampling new content like Nightfall or Holiday events with minigames, Anet would be much better off making permenant improvements where they are needed, not temporary pep rallies with silly rewards like double exp. The best thing they could do over the weekend is test permenant changes like the PvP characters in Jade Quarry and Fort Aspenwood, or altering some very unappreciated skills to see if players enjoy them more, instead of silly stuff.

Hi all - how about some event held at the temple of Blathazar and the Nameless Island area? There are all manner of practice targets and things in there. Could there be competitions, such as timed events to see which archer or melee character can knock down all the targets in the quickest time, which ele blasted all those targets in a circle the fastest, which melee character can take down the targets, even one on ones with the various trainee champions who wander that part of the island.

There could be a leaderboard outside for each event and prizes given for the best times - gold, silver, bronze medals maybe :-)

My Top Favorites for Event Ideas:

1. Lost Grounds- Players have access to maps from the early beta's. (Ah, nostalgia. I'd love to see the maps that were cut out/heavily changed from the preview events again.)

2. Oktoberfest - I reckon drinks should last the normal amount of time but count as being drunk for twice as long. I'd like to see new alcoholic beverages with different funky drunk effects! the different drinks could drop from certain enemies, or all of them could just be bought from a NPC.

3. RA/TA Fame - Gain fame from a 10 streak win.

4. Gracious Favor - Free entrance to UW/FoW and/or all regions have favor.

On a side note:
I see some mentions of bringing back the zaishen medals/balthazar flames. Personaly I didn't like the medal system. I quite often I forgot, or was to lazy to use them and they got deleted when I rerolled my pvp char slot. Perhaps if you could trade balthazar faction for items (like you do for jade/amber for luxon/kurzick faction) instead of using the medals. That I wouldn't mind. This way you can trade 1000 faction for a balth's flame and pass it on to a friend or *cough*buyer*cough* who then gains 1000 faction from using it.

To expand on a similar theme I've seen, how about

Equinox of the Gods!!!

All is in harmony with the omnipotent powers, so they have turned their graces on the Tyria and Cantha.
- No charge for UW/FoW access
- All elite/restricted areas open for everyone
- Rez shrines always active (favor for everyone!)
- DP capped at -20% or removed completely.
- Double XP everywhere
- Blessed Orb of the Gods drops (Removes DP like candy canes, or gives you +3 energy recharge for 5 min, etc.)
- Special "Mission of the Gods" quest that activates when a party kills three bosses (>lvl 20) in a single zone. ("You have proven yourselves worthy and have been chosen to complete a special task.")

Of course it should start on Sept. 23, 2006, 12:03 A.M. EDT (Autumn Equinox)

One other crazy idea is to put some monsters in the PvP areas! Maybe have a "team" of 8 bosses (1 from each profession) to stir things up a bit.

I also like the mini-pet racing/competion.

I think it would be SHUWEET if they held a one on one weekend tourney.

They could accept one character per account and you enter through a guy in shing jea monastary for say 1k or some monatary amount. The winner gets 50% and they make a boss named after that winner with the same skills set that's placed somewhere in the new nightfall game. Second place gets 35% and a green weapon of choice . 3-5 get 5% and a gift like a birthday gift with a minipet in it.

What do yous guys think?
