One of the most rude in-game daily occurences
Nickhimself
I'm not sure if anyone else feels this way, but to me, it seems extremely rude when someone doesn't answer you in-game if you offer a price for something they're advertising.
First of all, why say "wts blah blah blah of blah blah , pst w/ offer" and not just come out and tell everyone what you're hoping to get from it? And, if you don't know what it's worth, just ask for a price check..
Secondly, When you whisper one of these people, and you don't get a response...I don't know what it is about that, but it just really irks me. It's extremely rude. What's worse, is when you re-submit your offer, they usually just get pissed off, like you're offending them by offering them a price for something they're not willing to give their "yeah it's totally worth 5,000,000 gold" pricing for.
Anyone else feel like people couldn't be more rude in this game?

People couldn't be more rude.
Because I'm a moron, I usually think if they don't answer that my message just got lost in the constant spam. But yeah, if you make the error of messaging them again and they just lose it, I mean, what's the point.
On its good days, humanity's a blessing to the universe, too bad it's mostly hung over all the time.

Most times I just ignore those WTS's. However, the odd time I have answered I just outright ask what they want. I don't have time for playing bidding games just tell me your price and I'll pay it or not. As a matter of rule I always include my asking price whenever selling and I think all WTS's should as well.
Malice Black
Its a common trick to fool the uneducated out of their gold. When a person asks for offers and doesn't respond to PM's it means your offer didn't meet their price. The only time they will reply is when you offer more then they are wanting and then they will come back with a counter offer asking for more. Its a simple trick that fools simple people..NEVER offer, if they don't offer a price just leave them be.
supaet
First, why don't you check the price also, the seller has the item, you have the gold, why should he give you a price? He doesnt need to sell it anymore than you want to buy it. "just come out and tell how much you paying for it"
Second, if you offer well below the price that the seller feels that the items worth, he will not reply. That's not rude, try up your offer. again, nr=nty

They want to get as much gold they can, it's greed, yet yes it's very rude.
Even I use this trick sadly, mainly because an ebay dude bought my Rago's Wand which I had no use for, for 85k when they were only 45k...

I have to disagree.
The seller is sitting on his behind in front of a computer screen
playing a game. He's not Donald Trump with a net worth in the
billions making million dollar financial deals.
If the seller asks for offers and recieves them, failing to even
acknowledge that he even recieved the offer is rude as hell.

Supaet, would you prefer that if you walk into a supermarket, and there were NO signs showing the price of the things you wanted to buy? Would you prefer to walk up to the owner of the shop and say: "I'll give you xxx for this".???

My favorite exchange, repeated so many times I no longer make offers...
Me: WTB Req 8 15^50 sword, any skin.
Trader: I have
*self invites to your group*
*opens trade and shows a req 8 15^50 gladius*
Me: how much?
Trader: offer
Me: 5k seems a fair price
Trader: stupid noob
*close trade*
*leave group*
These guys really anger me when they have no clue what their items are actually worth. What really angers me is there are probably players out there paying 30k for a gladius.

People just do this so they can either of these:
A. Get rich of a item that isnt worth crap.
B. Make it harder for people who are not the greatest farmers.
C. Just want to be a pain in the arse.
D. Or all the above.

Oh a GW forum
It's equally as rude when I DO reply to people who respond to my WTS, and for whatever reason they change their mind and can't be bothered to offer a simple "no ty"...
It really aggrivates me that people aren't willing to try and haggle... I'm obviously not going to offer a low price immediately, but if you're willing to bargain with me I will go lower. But instead people just assume no one will bargain and proceed to ignore you if your price isn't 50k lower than what they would have offered.

It annoys me not when people ignore you but get angry/insulting because of your offer.
For instance I was trying to buy an Icebreaker. For what it is, an easily reached green spot and a non popular mod for a non popular weapon I wasn't expecting it to be worth that much (didn't check a price check forum before hand.)
So:
Me: WTB IceBreaker
seller: I have.
Me: How much?
seller: Offer.
Me: 5k?
(seemed fair enough)
seller: rofl, fu noob
Me: 10k then?
seller: no reply.
Later find out that it goes for 10-15k so I was fine with him rejecting my offer, but the refusal to bargin bugged me a lot. So then I went and (probably) got ripped off paying 25k for a req8 15>50% Jade Maul because I really don't care about money and needed a hammer to put elemental mods on and mr icebreaker lost out.
That sort of thing has happened so many times before for various items, and its so stupid because normally I have plenty of money to pay whatever ridiculous price they have in mind if they'd let me, plus getting insulted isn't always fun.

It's just plain rude to call ppl effing noobs for every single thing they do that doesn't please you. Not everyone is up to date on current prices, and furthermore, those morons calling others noobs are probably overcharging monstrously anyway.

The best was when I was in Kanig the other day and some guy was
"WTS Ogre Slaying Knife 100k+25 ecto"
Now- for anyone who doesnt know- the ogre slaying knife is a joke weapon, and I dont think its even useful for killing ogres (read: ettins). But seeing a guy trying to sell it for that kind of price- I knew I had to counter it. I have one in my box, so I started spamming "wts ogre slaying knife 100k +10 ectos"
the funny part was the other guy didnt even flinch- he just kept tryin to sell it for 100+25e. I spent about 5 minutes counter-spamming but then decided to go farm devourers outside ascalon since it was way more productive... :P

1) They didnt notice your message in all the spamming they are doing
2) They are idiots.
3) They dont have a clue how to power trade and are wannabe high end sellers
4) If they say offer, tell them to learn how to sell
5) do all the above and laugh at them. If they call you noob, ignore list ftw.

Kook~NBK~
I've tried selling things using the "PM offer" line once. Only because I wasn't sure what the item was worth. For 15 minutes I stood there and got exactly zero offers. So that was a big waste of time. (Did a PC later & sold it for that much in about 5 minutes)
If you do know what you're hoping to get for the thing, put a price on it! It's only a couple more keystrokes. Regardless of your selling style, there's no excuse for rudeness - if someone gives you an offer, politely respond. Remember, buyers are looking for the best deal they can get, too. So if an offer seems too low, it probably has nothing to do with being a noob. It's too bad that the art of haggling is lost on us Americans. LOL

You can't even buy a Droks blue for that price when you figure materials. Why would you think a gold would be worth less that that? Who is insulting who with that offer?
Certainly the guy was a jerk for responding in that fashion, but perhaps he was just tired of people trying to rip him off?
The insults go both ways, if you aren't sure of the value of a weapon, then perhaps you should do some price check research on the guru trade forums before making a fool of yourself?

AWigging, I suggest you go check the Price Check forum. A gladius isnt worth much more then 5-10k.
And besides its the seller who has to tell the price, not the buyer, When you go in a shop to buy a coke, does the person whos selling say Offer ?

If an item sells for less than the cost of materials, its worthless. My 1-1/2 cents.

I ignore offers from time to time, but the situation is a little different:
Me: WTS whatever item - 30k
Them: I'll give you 5k for it
And I DO check the prices on things. I don't call them noobs; I just ignore them. I can understand a little haggling but be reasonable, especially when I've given a fair price. Since I'm not asking for offers, I feel it's my right to ignore offers when I'm not in the mood to haggle. What really annoys me is when they proceed to spam these lowball offers at me, forcing me to put them on my ignore list.

I hate people that wont haggle especially for items over say 100k,ive noticed people use gurus minimum price as a max now, if its over gurus min price they arnt interested.
Sir Mad
No offense but there are items that CANNOT be price checked. A bow grip of deathbane 20% back in the days (I have no clue about the current price sry) was worth from 40k to 70k. I would have been happy to sell one 40K I would have been happier to sell one 70K. If I spam: "WTS blah blah 70K", someone who would only pay 40k for that won't PM me because he think I won't make a 30k discount. If I spam "WTS bah bah 40k" then I may lose a lot of cash if there is someone willing to pay 70k for that. So "PM offer" is the right choice in this case. And it's not about scamming.
Winx.ZN
You just say "WTS : Item | 50k | FIRM no Haggling |"
I add 10k to what i want to get for the items under 100k so they will haggle and I will get what I want. For items 20-50k, I say FIRM. For items under 20K, Ill pretty much sell them to the first person to offer anything above the 50% mark of what I would like to get.
10k < Time spent playing.
For items over 100k I put the price I would be most happy with | 100k +20e | and know someone will try haggle me way down. Those I ignore. If someone comes up and offer +18e, Ill sell it. Many of these people who will buy it for +17e will try to resell for +20e for hours, Im happy getting my cash and moving on. Ill let the power buyers do their thing.
Most Important : I try very hard not to get annoyed with people or angry because someone calls me a noob. I have older siblings, making me angry was all they wanted when I was younger so I learned not to :P
If they dont offer what you want say "Sorry, too low. Good luck and have a nice day" and carry on selling.

Now, noticing a trend in this forum of rude and arse hole players, I'm surprised nobody has mentioned yet the CAUSE of this. Well, let me give my two cents about it.
Ok, people can say whatever they want, but this community is in a rapid decline. I cannot say about beta days, because I started playing this game 6 months ago, but I have noticed many players turning into just forum flamers and in game jackasses. Slowly, I'm sadly admitting, but I am crossing this border, and the reason being is boredome! All those bastards who say "No, guild wars is fine the way it is!! OMG NOOB GET OFF TEH FORUM RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE", ARE ON THE FORUM ALL THE TIME!IDIOTS, IF NOTHING IS WRONG WITH GUILD WARS WHY ARE YOU PLAYING THEN!!
Sorry for caps, but that was the best way to express the message. People are turning into bored, bitter morons, just because they refuse to admit the fact this game is falling apart. Whats the point of denying it anymore anyway.
This game is just as much grind as in other games, but its not as obvious to the common idiot. Think about it, before some of you make some dumbass comments like usual, not mentioning any names though.
Rera
Regarding the OP: if a seller doesn't respond to your offer, it's either because they didn't see your offer, or because your offer is not acceptable. In either case, just move on. I don't really see why it's rude.
As for people who won't haggle - a patient buyer doesn't have any incentive to allow you to raise the price, and a patient seller doesn't have any incentive to let you lower the price. If I go shopping, and I set the gurus minimum price as the max I'm willing to pay, why should I allow a seller to haggle the price higher? It doesn't make any sense. If you don't like my buy/sell price, go elsewhere. I'm not in any hurry.

For the people who whine about sellers without a price, grow up...
I usually allow any perspective buyer to name a fair price and then allow them to haggle with me over the details. I can suggest any price I want, but the item is only worth what someone will pay for it. I always make sure to say "Thank You" when accepting a trade too. Common Courtesy, it goes a long way, no?

And you might want to reconsider those prices considering Nightfall is coming...
If, as stated in PCGamer you are able to salvage inherant damage mods and place them on other weapons, a 15^50 common skin will seriously inflate in price. This is of course assuming that we will not have a 100% chance at salvaging, which seems unlikely to the extreme

personally, i always put 'whisp offer', and make sure i knwo the value of what im selling, that way, if some1 whisps an offer, greater than wat its worth=more money for me, or if they ask how much? i can simply say how much. wat annoys me with selling are the people who still think that a weapons value is determined entirely by its mods, found sum1 trying to sell a req 13 15^50 shadow bow, for 50k. cudnt help but laugh

Back on topic, it's too bad anet has teased us with the idea of an Auction house only to backtrack as time marches on. An auction house would eliminate the problem of most players not knowing what their items are worth because they could search for similar items and see what they are selling for. It would also greatly reduce prices as sellers would tend to undercut each other for the quick sale.

some just take this game to damn serious... not any of you no, i mean those arrogant sellers! when someone is selling an item ive never heard of, and i ask if i could have a look at it, he sais to me "get lost"... maybe id like that item and would buy it but its their problem. because we are all anonymous on the internet, anyone can be mean to another, and get away with it, the social contact is down to minimum what is very very sad indeed...
