Here is what I have found: Well right after the update I tried Warden farming outisde Arborstone using the Vengeful Rit build...bad news...the Wardens run away from you and alternate attacking groups. I can't kill them before they run out and get healed. However, the vermin farming still works but it is a little slower. Friends have reported that the 2 man UW still works, which is great to hear! What have you guys/girls found? ** I am able to farm Vermin perfectly fine, until I aggro more then 2 groups, then they scatter like cockroaches** |

Meteor
Meteor Shower
Chain Lightning
Eruption
Rodgorts Invocation
Heal Party
Aegis
Extinguish
Kinetic Armor
Lightinining Orb
Obsidian Flame
Etc... Any 2+ second cast spell....
While running without hitting an autocancel. Go to isle of the nameless and hold the forward button and cast Meteor Shower, then let go of forward as soon as you cast the spell. Fun isn't it? I am waiting on updates and will not play until this is fixed. I have been complaining about it for the last 2 hours. Yes im pretty steamed.

Get a Wand / Off-hand with similar stats. More energy + SAME EXACT GOD DAMN STATS.
Ghial's has never been good. Ever. A Wand and off-hand gives you more energy with a maleable base to alternate between one form of a death weapon setup to another without requiring you to buy 50 more crappy green staves. The possibilities are seemingly endless with a Wand and Off-hand. With a Staff, it's WYSIWYG all day.

Shhhh! Don't tell everyone that! Let people keep thinking their staffs and Sunderings are da bomb. It just means every time I run across either, I know I can sell it straight out without having to wonder "which of my characters will this work good with"
SirJackassIII
Ghial's did Dark Damage. Bortak set deals Cold Damage. The Cold damage and extra 2 energy if you kept your HP above 50% made Bortak set superior to Ghial's Staff, except that Ghial's was easier and cheaper to get after the MM and Gear nerf, making the staff more popular then the set.
Lordhelmos
Totem axe + collecters offhand ftw. So why did you pay 25k for ghials again? Gee I have +17 energy, +20% echant, +30 health and HCT of my spells.... what I only payed 5k? omg hax.

I know that for some people, completing a campaign is done only for unlocks, and any other PvE is done only for farming. But there are other people out there who want to play the game. So I don't think any quests are 100% pointless, some people want to do them because this a GAME in which they can enjoy themselves by PLAYING it.

but none of this is welcome in GW anymore
i dont see myself buying NF just for 5 days of boring missions just to get a new sword, a nice new armor and a cartographer title
prolly it's my fault .. i seriously hate the PvP of this thing

At least farming added to the gameplay when finding party's was a pain in the arse, now explain to me what the average Joe Bloggs has to look forward to once he/she has completed the game..
Perhaps all our questions will be answered with the release of nightfall, if not then what have we to look forward to?

My (hopefully) unbiased thoughts...
Most of the changes that drastically effect gameplay I agree with (dumb AI for AoE) for example. The SS, etc was simply playing on the lack of AI. Anyone not willing to see this is probably taking too much pride in the fact that 1 + 1 = 2. The change(s) are most likely justified, making the game more challenging for PvE. The result: Eliminate as much "cookie-cutter" playstyle as possible. Indefinitely it will prolong everyones interest in the game.
_However_, devs should really be careful to not go overboard. You can think of this as taking candy away from a baby. A lot of people spend hours and hours working on characters in this game, buying skills, gaining weapons, and fine tuning their playstyle. This is time spent to work towards it. To rip these styles out is a little borderline. Instead invest more time in BETA testing changes to see the loopholes and do not allow it in the firstplace. -or- "baby step" changes so we don't login one day and our whole world is upside down

also, have any MM noticed weird behaviour of their minions?? well, mine do! there r enemies around them, but after they kill one off, they run to the back of me, past me, out of my aggro circle..... then they come back and attack the next one ... and all that even tho there were enemies in their own aggro ..... any one else saw that happenin? i got sum nice pics of my minions runnin off like chickens .. got me really pissed off

ANET already knows about the self-interrupt bug and is working on the fix for thenext update
Sophitia Leafblade
I think the new Update is great, Im sure lots of people wont like it cause everyones different but i think, Anet have finally put a decent Update on and made the game play much better in general. Finally you can use AoE as a heavy attack like you once could do preAoE nerf, ok so they still run where there near death but thats how it should be, Skills like Firestrom etc were nearly totally useless (except on non-moving things) but now they have use again. Great work Anet, keep it up.

Would you three please open up the box and step out of it? There are still plenty of places to farm, and plenty of ways to make easy gold. Is it really so hard to stop relying on other people to find your builds and farming spots? Can you really not just go out and find one of the many places that you can still easily and efficiently farm?
Okay, so you can't 55/600 the popular bot-spots anymore. Why is that such a big deal? People had to make money before those spots were abused... Why not go back to basics and try some more exciting ways of making money? I know the farming I have been doing since before this update is far more exciting and intense than any bit of Aatxe and Shiro'ken farming that the general populous is now whining about, and it still works, even after the AI buffs.
ArenaNet hasn't stopped anyone from farming to make money, except for the people who aren't willing to think for themselves, and do a little bit of work to continue farming. And really, once you finally accept that farming isn't over, and that you can still farm for gold, how can you throw aside all the wonderful UI updates, and the necessary armor/skill balances?
If somebody quits GW because of this, they aren't even worthy of WoW-level grind, in my opinion.
Witchblade
farming? for what useless gold since a 30hp upg ll be worth 500g
ectos? i ve enough .. it just crafting material now...
trading was better than farming anyway ... (and fyi, i dont need other ppl builds for my chars, i just do mine )
the only "prestige" stuff now ll be titles imo, and opening 10000 chests when u know u ll get a 100% crap guaranty outta em, u dont wanna waste time on this .. anyway, what do u do when u got ur titles?

Not that most people care, but I miss being able to armour swap in PvP. By removing the armour swapping, it does balance out the PvP vs. PvE characters. Only advantage now of using a PvE character in PvP is weapon swapping.
Still it was nice to have that slight edge on PvP-Only chars by hat swapping a PvE char.
Nonetheless, a fantastic update. Love the template and love the new PvP-Only char creation tools. Thumbs up to Anet!

Last night, I was working my new Monk's way up to Ice Tooth Cave with henchies. They didn't go straight after Alesia (I play smiting ). When they engaged, they locked onto me. Couldn't scrape them off by kiting around getting Stephan & Little Thom between us, either. They'd run right past 'em. Ah well, they died and I need to fit Symbol of Wrath back on my skill bar .
I also noticed that AI's got alot smarter about using interrupts, 3 Shiverpeak Longbows = getting interrupted 3 times in a row. Glad they made the Henchie AI's smarter too.
It's going to take a bit of adjusting to get used to the updated AIs on both sides, but I think it's an improvement and it really didn't make things that much more difficult.
As for the skill changes, I'm not too happy with what they did to the Mesmer's e-management abilities, but I'm sure there's ways to overcome that, too.

The Drain Enchantment/Inspired Hex nerfs are strange. But I have yet to actually try out to see if it will have any actual major impact on my mesmer.
Everything else is pretty awesome.

Maxiemonster
Mantra of Recall nerfed, Energy Drain nerfed, Inspired Hex nerfed, Drain Enchantments nerfed... No more good Energy management for Boon Prots, so I guess I'll just leave my favorite build behind. I was kinda thinking of switching builds in Nightfall anyway, but I hope I can enjoy those builds, because I'd really like a build that I enjoyed as much as this one.
I'm very happy with the new runes on the other hand (reduces Dazed, sweet!). Also, I like the skill recharge/casting time mods on Swords/Axes (even though my +5 armor sword is nerfed ), can't wait to get a Gold Phoenix Blade with skill recharge! I'm also glad that they nerfed the HoD Axe (sorry for the people who spend millions on it though...), because I always wanted that axe, but never bought it, because I was too afraid this would happen. I also like that I can now actually get the wands/focii I want, because the wand/focii upgrades will really help making perfect wands/focii.

Some people solo farm for other reasons, maybe for challenge...it's fun to kill 20+ mobs at once that a typical pug 8 man couldn't even take down. Another reason may be that they can't find a good group to team with, instead they find people like you calling other people names....
Ritualistic Spankin
Other people might need to try this, but my mesmer has gotten a bit funky with the AI treating his skills like AoE, Energy Surge spreads them, even though it is focused on one target. I also noticed that using Cry of Frustration, after it caused the "area interrupt" caused the enemies to spread out just like firestorm or meteor shower.
Bryant Again
Well, to answer the started of the thread, I'm damned happy. Tougher monster AI, the weapon inscriptions along with armor bonuses, easier PvP creation, new dyes (WHITE!) and a hell of a lot more really add to my enjoyment of GW. Thanks, ANet!
Marc0
I really wish they could make aggro in this game actually have some logic. Like most other games, a tank can go in, build aggro, has some taunt skills to hold aggro & then the party can attack but has to be careful not to out taunt the tank. (damage = taunting).
It's not tougher, it just doesn't have any logic, a tank is no longer a tank, now at least you can setup to be a damage RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO instead. Hammers will be popular I predict. As will be Frenzy since you can get a mod down to 1/2 health, then kick in Frenzy & pound him to smitherines & he won't even attack back....also skills that do damage do moving targets will be nice for the cowardly new AI behavior.
