I paid 18 quid for this, even with 40% off from play.com i still haven't come close. I can't even bring myself to replay it on my other characters or even carry on/level my Para/Dervish. Why? The grind is too f*cing boring. Having to quest to get 2500 Sunspear once is fair enough. Having to do it 10 times... not a chance.
Oh and Anet doesn't get money per month like WoW. Its in there best interest to keep people playing Guild Wars and buying new chapters. Atm, i haven't seen anything to make me buy the next installement. The grind factor is insanely high. The bug factor is also insanely high. The sheer stupidity factor is just off the chart.
I don't find grinding 25000 Sunspear points as a requirement all that fun tbh. Grinding 15000 to get a max title on ONE character i will do while achieving other things, but thanks to the stupid RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOs who decided to make it impossible to do after getting Rank 8 i can't even do that.

An update for my last thread but ill put it in here.
outside of Tihark Orchard the wisperer gives a bounty for heckets. Ride the left wall over to Jennurs Horde to get another bounty for the harpys. (Try to avoid the harpys on your way over thier.)Then kill everything that moves in that district. I got almost 2k sunspear points in one hour after killing almost every living thing in there. This does work because I went back and sunbtracted to see how amny it got me. I did this place once and it got me to rank 8

Also, you paid £18 for a new game and your complaining? You got more armour, weapons, features, continent, classes, skills, titles etc etc etc and this one thing about having to do a small grind (lets face it, getting to 2500 is nothing, esp when your talking about getting 15000 for Spearmaster) is getting you worked up like that? I think you definately need to take a step back.
Granted its a bit of a kick in the teeth. Ive come here after grinding to R8 in arjok wood and not doing any quests only to find out Im no longer able to get to R9. Frustrating yes, but having read about the update I know Im gonna get it sooner or later.
You can level your paragon/dervish in either of the 2 other continents so they're not wasted character slots.
Calm down, sit back, be patient.
As for whoever mentioned earlier about 'god dont they have a test team to test these things?!' yes, I'd say they do. But there is no way they can test things on a scale of thousand of player. Effectively I'd say any MMO is best tested as the game goes along and you fix/tweak the minor things the public come up with (after fixing the major things in private testing ofc). If you think this is bad then I'd hate to see reactions to a game thats pre-testing!

So yes, it is still possible apparently, however people just arent aware of it yet due to it being not so obvious. The path is already there, however the dev's are aware that its too hard to work out and will make it more obvious in the future. Maybe theres a challenge there for someone to work it out. It took about about 60-90min/each to get 2500 points for my Prophecies/Canthan characters just by doing regular quests & taking blessings.
While I don't like grinding and would leave the 'must have 2500 points before one can continue' aspect out of NF, it isn't so big job to get those points.

Anet will fix the sunspear title in future(also according to Gaile Grey) cos it needs to be fixed.. when i say fix, i mean allowing way to earn points after rank 8, otherwise many ppl will be stuck at r8 for ever. Sunspear title is becoming gay cos it should have got fixed long time ago. I can understand why they stopped blessing after r8 cos otherwise it would be too easy even compared to lightbringer title; *r9 sunspear = 15000 points, upto 7 points per kill (= 2143 kills) r8 lightbringer = 50000 points, 2 points per kill (= 25000 kills) However there are still no ways to earn more points after r8, and Anet still allows people to slip pass to r9 using r7 res method. I can't understand why they haven't fixed it yet.. cos it needs to be fixed and its a easy fix. I noticed recent update removed exp gain from duplicate torment kills but u still earn extra lightbringer points. They fixed exp gain but not the lb points? Any..way pls fix the sunspear title, its bout time.. guinevere

Why are you grinding using an exploit, in a game you hate, to play content that's boring and you do not wish to replay, in series you won't buy another chapter of?

The Protector of Tyria/Cantha/Elona titles seem pretty straightforward to get, if one cares.
Cartographer is a labor of love, of course. Elite skills appeals to me. That said, I have 52 elite skills, enough experience to get that up to 130 (counting the bonus XP from the caps), and a little under 70% on my best map. And I only ever actually finished Prophecies. So I probably shouldn't be giving the impression I find ANY of this easy at all.

It's still impossible to get via any normal means. Meaning once you reach rank 8, your stuck.

Okey going in with a lower rank person doesnt work since you need to have the blessing personally. Meaning even if someone else takes it you wont get anything without taking the blessing yourself.
Yes lightbringer is nerfed, "copied" torments doesnt give points. And why do everyone get so upset? Do someone here seriously think that the only way of getting the title is by "cheating" anet to it? Geeze, and yes it is "cheating" with the res thing since i dont think it was ment to be like this from the biginning. Still havent found a place where you can get points now with the elite missions. But where you get Razah, heart of abaddon, it might be there. Or they just haven't added it yet and will do it later. just be patience, the possibility of maxing the title will come. gul dan
i'm stuck at rank 8... i didn't know i coudn't get the blessings anymore, i was competing with some guildmates to see who would reach rank 9 first... none of us did it yet ¬¬

I knowed about the rez thing.. And i would try to do it, so i got to 7490 or somthing like that and would do it the day after.. But omg i forgot it, and i got the reward from a quest i have completed which gave me 100 points.. I was realy upset.. But now i just have to wait to they fix, so i can get r9:S

Not sure what you mean. If you are talking about a rank 7-9 method than it would not work, becasue you need to kill mobs over and over again.

there is only one way i have found to get the rank 9 suspear title
go outside either the bone palace or any other place you can become a worm. certain monsters can ressurect each other, so kill a creature or two let them rez then kill them again. it will take a while , 3-5 hours but it works. do this when you have 7400 or so fame so you can get the sunspear enchant

they could have at least fixed r7 res method but they didn't.. maybe cos thats how they want us to get the title. they nerfed lightbringer 3 times already, yet they still let us use the r7 res method for sunspear.. fyi - lightbringer nerf 1. removed blessing in that nub area.. where those torment res every 2 mins (nerfed 2-3 week after nf) 2. removed exp gain from duplicate torment kills [this was mad for survivor title] (nerfed ~1 month after nf) 3. removed lb point gain from duplicate torment kills (nerfed 5-6 weeks after nf)

Then zone back somewhere. Now you go back out somewhere where it's 7 ppk. You kill the entire mob, leaving the monk/whatever to resurect the team, and move on while it does that. Just make a large circle around the zone, then you will hit r9. Many people in my guild have done this, and i'm going to do it tonight. targetdrone
If that's the only way to get r9, then in my opinion the r9 title is a bit similar to the high Unlucky titles in terms of respectability or "fame".
The things you have to do to get them aren't really inspiring or anything  .

I just tried the rez method, but after i killed the one group once or twice (all but the monks) i no longer gained sunspear points. So i believe that the rez method was nerfed in one of the previous updates.
