I think it is only there when you unlock one of the monk heroes. The skill is unlocked, and buyable anywhere, in NF, then.

I guess what I'm asking is...
Why would people call the 55 monk dead but this build magically resurrects it?
The only differences is the defense.

Still has some draw backs compared to the Spirit Bonder, but still a very good set up.

I love this build! I can get an easy 1-2k ish off one farm run in talus chute!

Here's what I don't understand. I haven't tried this yet, so forgive me if it's blatantly obvious and I'm just missing something.
For me I SoJ farm trolls outside of droks. Didn't do spirit bond stuff. But after the update I cannot farm the trolls anymore. But that wasn't because any of my skills not nerfed, it was because the AI got nerfed. So my question is, what's the difference in this build? Yeah, you're not taking any damage. It's a great idea, it really is. But the reason we can't farm right now is because SoJ doesn't kill them anymore. Why would that be any different in this build?

Well, I believe the SoJ update is for Melee only, like trolls. Ice imps, rockshots, all free game.

been workin on a way to two man uw and pull hella big.. stevie brought qz eoe famine.. then had him drop a ton of traps the whole time i was tankin..
he got about 10 traps laid right behind me so when the aggro shatterd they would go right into the traps and die then trigger the aoe bomb..
everything was goin great untill he laid famine on the ground. at that very second my pc locked up from the massive amount of shittyness that is inside of it....
But im almost positive if you pull big smite like this your initial damage is gonna be soooo huge by the time they scatter.. the remainder will be close to dead that when the smite on the monk will die from famine.. and the deaggro that hits the traps will die.. then eoe will finish off the rest.. i will give an update if it works.. im goin in again.

One comment: You don't need a 135 health to do this. For example, let's say you're really cheap, and you don't have a 55 monk ready. So you outfit yourself with 5 major runes, giving you 480 - 5(35) = 305 health.
Now you have 300 health. You cast your enchantments and aggro the baddies. The first hit does 30 damage, then 25 damage, then 20, 15, 10, 5, 0, 0, 0, etc. So you took 105 damage on aggro, and you will take another 105 damage every time you cast SoA. So 105 damage every 10 seconds. Divine favour and a little mending should take care of that, or a watchful spirit. You could use HB, too, every two casts of SoA, but that might be dangerous. Still, it's not a lot of damage, and you get significantly more protection with the extra health.
At very high levels of health (500 or 600), you will lose slightly less than half your life every time you cast SoA. That's a lot, but still manageable, with a little bit of energy, and it might be worth using 600 life in certain situations. I hope you can have time to test this for any flaws I might have missed.
In the mean time, you could just take off a superior rune, instead of using a +30 focus.

Finally, it's convenient that A.net nerfed one farming skill, which was obviously broken, even from the description, the day before they introduced this one. Then it took you a week to make your farming build with it. Maybe they're not as completely stupid as you think. (It's possible.)

I've killed plenty of the melee avicara in mineral springs with this build. They only run away to regen if there's more than one different group at a time.

Ok stevie and i managed to get in a full run withought me crashing just now..
we pulled a good group of smite.. he laid a ton of traps then eoe then qz.. the resuslts look ugly.. but trust me it was awsome.. in the end the eoe bomb worked perfect and a few wand hits dispatched the remaining few smite.

Hey, just two quick questions here.
Firstly, is it possible to do this build with 55 health instead of 135? I'm not too sure on how the theory of this build works, but wouldn't a lower health for better regen from mending be good? Or does SoA not work with 55 health?
And secondly, about equipment issues, since we don't need the -50 foci anymore, how about a Hale Smiting Staff of Enchanting?
It'd be +30 health, 20% enchanting, 20% chance of skill recharge for all skills, and 20% faster cast for Smiting skills.
Wouldn't it be better to have 20% chance of faster recharge on both SoA and SoJ?

Here's the ranger build:
Lay one set of traps, then EoE, then another set of traps, then Famine in most cases and keep trapping on top of spirits whenever possible. If your monk needs you to drop Famine sooner, do so. You are in no danger at all since everything will be crippled and blinded if it comes after you. Just stand on the spirits and traps, only retreating if a res is in order.
This build was just thrown together. It would work better with three superiors.

Now with the skillset established you must keep in mind that this build is VERY FLEXABLE.. the whole key to this build is prot spirit, sheild of absorbtion, balths sprit, blessed aura... those are the main skills.. the rest can be modified to suit your needs. you also MUST have a 30% blessed aura and a 20% enchant weapon. because if you dont shield of absorbtion will run out to early..and that is never fun
i have tested this build in a 2 man uw and heavy degen run aswell using the following builds:
Now with that outa the way.. lets explain how this build works. well the first thing you will notice is that this is neither the 605 hp or 55 hp monk.. like i said this is a whole new spin on the solo monk...
now you would think that with 135 hp you would take more than 5 damage. because if you take 10% outa 135.. its more than 10.. thus you would be taking at least 5 damage per hit... but with prot spirit and shield of absorbtion on you will never take any damage at all.. take it as you will.. i just call it an oprotunity.
Now i will provide a screenshot of the build in action.. to solidify the fact that this build truly is exceptional i did it in the most intterupt heavy location i could think of.. just take a look at all the malestrom hits..
Now why do i use mending when there really is no need cause i dont take damage.. cause im crazy like that..
why do i feel that this is a new build.. because i have been working this build seince day one.. and i feel that it is a very undiscoverd build.. 135 hp and 0 damage.. thats pretty incredible if you ask me..
This build ruins in uw the key is to fire your sheild and your sv before you get to any mobs with a possibility of intterupts..
this build will work in uw with both a famine ranger and a ss necro.. but tell him to bring some more damage skills cause you got the sv av combo.
i will eventually get around to farming some later nightfall areas when i get unlazy and go through some missions..
and i also have some words for anet... go ahead nerf me.. i will just keep getting back up.
Any feed back is welcome.. i know i need work with my microsoft paint skills.. but oh well. Could you please tell me the names of the skills in order on your bar? I can't tell what skills are what from pictures not that great at this game yet. Also are there any faction skills in it? Cause i only have proph and nightfall. Also where do u get ur weapon at? what does 30%blessed aura mean anyways?Mabey could you post a pic of your weapon and sheild, also where did u get ur shield? and how much would each one cost if u have to just buy it in a town of a another player.

I'm really trying to figure this out but I just don't get it. Someone explain it to me in very simple terms.
The 55 monk relies on a constant 5 damage or less as defense. The 55 monk generally relies on SoJ for damage output.
This new monk relies on a constant 0 damage for defense. This new monk STILL generally relies on SoJ for damage output.
When the AI update was released, everyone clamored that the 55 monk was killed. To which I can agree.
However, everyone calls this new monk the holy savior for farming.
Why?
You can 55 monk these creatures still the same, just in less numbers (which never bothered us in the past).
What am I missing here?

After playing around with this build a bit I decided to play with only 4 sup runes, and I use a green with +30hp, 20% enchant and +5 energy. That works in any area that your original build does, the only inprovement is some more protection against degen enemies.

The build this one is meant to replace is the 55 build that used spirit bond. 55 monk with HB still works as usual.
There has always been 2 55 monking builds, and with recent changes to skills it was reduced to 1. What this gentleman has done was to think of a new way to do things, and for that he will go down in the legend books
What you, and about every 3'rd person in this thread is asking, is how do you still farm the 'easy' quick run spots. You cant. You will have to look for different spots like the rest of us has done.
What this build however has done is make areas possible that was previously deemed impossible by alot of people. I have tested this in very hard areas, and believe me that with a little tweaking you can do insnane things. I actually prefer this build to the original SB build.

Note the following:
1. Retribution and Holy Wrath STILL deal their normal damage even though you take 0 damage.
2. You don't need as little as 135 health, of course, as long as you have a 20% enchanting you could do this with any amount of health, say like 630.
