Same here..played the entire weekend and I got one single solitary purple dye drop. My girlfriend worked on saturday, but she played all day sunday with me and got two orange dyes.
Seemed to me to be normal dye drops, because that's about what we normally get in a weekend of play.

I guess I got lucky. I only played a total of 4 hours this weekend and got a black dye, couple of purples, a blue and a brown all on the training island.

I spent Friday evening solo farmin for dye just outside kamadan and got 4 dyes (red, 2xblue, brown)

Played Saturday evening and decided to farm for dye in cliffs of Dohjok w/ Dunkaro and got 6 dyes (mostly purple and blue, 1 black, 1 silver)

On Sunday I was finishing Isles of the Dead in Mehtani (sp?) Keys and got 2 dyes (purple and black)

Overall, I felt like the drop rate had increased. It was sporadic though, I'd get a bunch of dyes, then none for awhile, then another bunch. I was very happy to get some black dyes cause I've been playing for just over 2 months now and these are the first black dyes I've ever found.

I probably played for about 12 hours over the weekend, so I'm happy. Sorry to hear alot of other people didn't find many. One thing I did notice was an insanely high drop rate of Istani Keys. I found like 20 over the weekend...

I got a few dyes. Most of them in a 20 minute Plains of Jarin run with my MM. I'm happy enough.

I have seen several threads like this one with people saying they didn't get much in the way of dye drops. Problem is a lot of the people that are complaining farmed in Factions or Prophecies. Since the event was in Elona, it stands to reason that they wouldn't see the dye drops.

As for those in Elona who didn't see the drops, that surprises me. My wife and I played normally almost all weekend only making about 15 runs between the two of us to farm. Like most we farmed the stretch between Champions Dawn and The Astralarium. Over the weekend we got 31 dyes between us. 1 black, 2 white, 3 red, 5 blue, 2 green, 7 brown, 5 orange, 2 yellow, and 4 purple. That nearly doubled our dyes stores.

I'm just glad they stacked

Funny, i wonder what the next double event will be? Maybe...... Double Material Drops?

wow, 31 dyes that is alot of dyes. I only got total of 6 or 7 from the event and none of the dyes i gotten worth alot of money.

Account based.

Played all weekend in Elona, got 2 dye, 1 yellow, 1 purple.
Regardless of what you think, double "insert whatever gimmick here" still translates to 1 drop after every 13984039460947567389475934875 kills.

I get more dye 55'ing in Tyria, or with my MM, while farming crafting mats, then I did this double dye weekend. I'm not so sure this was even an event. I think it was a BS post, to get more people on the servers to test the loads/builds/whatever, seeing how the current set of Alpha/Beta/QA people have no idea on what they should be doing, or even how to do it.

That or using an mm to farm. There is a bug right now that causes minions to take up thier share of drops like henchies do.

i was thinking the same thing- got one brown near vabbi (spent all weekend getting zhed, margrid, and up into Chantry on one character) and a silver in Plains of Jarin while spending about 4 minutes on my lvl 2 in-waiting Character...

Got halfway to the top of my Lightbringer title on the former, btw- thats a lot of creeps.

Whether you got more dye or not, double dye means a bunch of people got more dye than usual. Many of those people probably sold to the Dye Trader, thus saturating the market with more dye than usual, prices might even decrease.

You didn't get any dye... whaaaa.

I was also disappointed in the weekend. Same problem with the key drops weekend, never saw a key drop that whole time. I got maybe 2 dyes this weekend with extensive playing. I got about 15 dyes just doing sentient root farming in plains of jarin during the halloween weekend.

I wish they would bring back double green weekend soon. Now with all these heroes to equip those greens would be really helpful.

As a MM, I can say this is definitely not true. My greatest source of income is from farming materials to make elonian leather and selling it. My minions have certainly not affected my drop rate.

I also play an MM sometimes, and I have not experienced it. I do know people who have however. There is a post on this very site about it, it is a bug, and it is happening. Maybe not all the time to all MMs, but it is happening.

I dropped all my henchies and heros. Farmed just outside Kamadan.
Netted, 2 black, 1 white, 2 brown, 1 yellow, 4-5 purple, 3-4 blues, 1 red, 2 greens. Oh and as a little bonus, picked up 2 stormbringer staves, and 2 (green) hammers, can't remember the hammer names....

EDIT: and 3 silver dyes

If I add in the one I got I got 30 minutes after midnight, so early Monday morning PST, I got three.

That's triple my normal rate for a week - so in theory I cashed in.

Increasing the frequency variable on a computer random generator won't be noticeable in the small scale. To find out what impact the weekend event had, you would have to compare across a random sample of at least 100 to 1000 players (100 can work, but only if your sample selection method is perfected).

And also, in a span of a single weekend, not much impact would be felt. The frequency number is low to begin with, well under 10% if I recall. Doubling that wouldn't be 'visibly obvious' in the short term framework the human mind functions - you'd have to look at it in terms of trends across time. It takes either a large sample or a long time period to show up.

So... individual stories like the ones here won't add up to much of a showing. IF the double weekend has an effect on the in game market, even that will take a few weeks to show up as a result of how short-term the double event was. Statistically, it simply would not have effected enough people for it to have a quick and visible impact - it will take time to filter out, and the impact will be small if any.

Those were bugs, not lies or misrepresentations.

I don't know about you, but I have never written a game. I am a programmer, but I write business applications. I have yet to write a bug-free program. In fact I would say it's next to impossible. GW is a complicated program. If they make a change, there can be unexpected results.

They did not lie about the change, they just managed to find a problem that kept things from working the way they should. Then they fixed it. I don't see a problem there.

If there had been a problem with the drop rates they would have fixed it. There wasn't a problem with the drop rates. The drop rates increased, but they are still random. At no time did they gaurantee that everyone would get a lot of dyes.

I didn't get to play much, but within about 10 minutes, I got a white, green, purple, blue and silver dye.

I guess I can't complain. Now the Green Drop Weekend - that's another story...

Double Dye drop weekend - I got one dye..played in Elona all weekend. I normally get a dye or two every couple days on standard playing. Event seemed like normal to me.

Double green drop weekend - I got one green, killed I don't know how many bosses, both solo, hench grouped and duo'd. Seemed like normal to me.

I guess when double whatever events happen I won't care anymore, and just play like I normally do, because nothing changes whatsoever as far as I can tell.

I only found 3 throughout the entire weekend, 1 brown, 1 blue, 1 green. I found more gold weapon and rune drops than Dye.

They should have called it: "You should probably get a dye weekend".

That way, if someone doesn't get a dye throughout the weekend then it won't matter. Because nothing was misrepresented.

They need to increase Black and White dye drops so those dye prices can come back into the sane pricing category.

In the two days before this weekend, a total of eight (8!!!) dyes dropped for me in presearing ascalon (going for the lvl 20 in presear title). In Elona, over the weekend, a grand total of three dyes dropped. Keep in mind that I haven't had a singe dye drop in a month or so.

Things like this are totally random, and doubling the chances of something that already drops fairly rarely does not produce the dramatic results some people seem to have expected.

I'm disappointed with Guild Wars. It is the worst game I have ever played, how could anyone seek fun through holding down the mouse button and watching a glitchy game as your character does the same exact attack against a scorpion a dozen times in a row. Don't forget the tedious, time-consuming quests that require you to walk as slow as a caterpillar across the whole map. The community is also based off little 12-year olds that usually only talk about their perverted fantasies that they will never get close to. Apart from all that, the game is just downright boring, there is absolutely nothing else to do except kill things and sell items. I mean come on there are like five armor sets in the whole game and as always with free games, there is hardly any customization AT ALL. Good thing my friend gave it to me for free. He hated it too. Lucky him he got rid of it early. We both had the same amount of enjoyment in the game...about 2 hours and we were both bored and ready to.

Please take your ranting elsewhere and keep on topic.

It should have been more than double. Double of a very small amount is still really small.

During the 'Double' Die drop event, I got a Red and a Purple. These were on quests.
Funny thing, after the event I bagged 3 silvers in a 2 hour session just questing.

How about giving your account for free to me? =) I can give it as a present to a person who really wants it. XD

Sorry 4 the offtopic =)
Probably ANet did it to stabilize prices for the new dyes... Looks like this worked (or may be they just stopped being skyscraper style in a natural way). But I agree with the guys who say that dye drop chance is way too little to start with to get noticeable change.

Lady Random seems to have striked that event hard.

Two times a low chance is still a low chance. So I did not expect any particulary drops. I played my normal amount, doing quests and missions in Elona and got 10 dyes (with 2 blacks and two silver drops), using a full hench party all time. More dyes then I got the last 4 months. Life is unfair...
