[Dev Poll] Guild Wars Titles
dragon spy
so when are they going to make this change what ever it is i have all the eliet skill capped.
Deadly SiNs
I vote for campaign specific titles, that makes it fairer on people that don't have all 3 campaigns so they can still get a snazzy title
The International Skill hunter/cartographer title sounds good to ^^

I have captured all elites and I feel this was at least as difficult to achieve as gaining all Protector titles. So I think they should be considered equal, at least.

Skiant
Voted for split of titles, but Anet should really consider a way to organize those titles, it's getting quite a mess in there.
I also like a lot the idea of "international protector" and stuff, it would be great to show you completed the protector title on the three existing continents.

And I'm with Skiant on this: Messy, messy title organization.
Evilsod
You think we'll get this in time for GW2? That way if the implemention goes off in Anets true fashion of been shite and full of bugs not as many will notice...
Tarun
Wonder if there will be a title to show if you capture them all.
Yaga Philipe
^There should be, it's a lot of work to get all of the skills.
I voted split, since having to buy all of the chapters to max it out is kinda dumb IMO.

Cheapens the kind of a big deal title
Cheapens the kind of a big deal title
Mylon
The problem with titles is that there are so few that are really impressive. Kind of a Big Deal doesn't really seem that impressive to me. It means you can wallhug and drink booze. Granted, the protector titles are something, but there's still 3 of them.
We really need a way to show off more than one title. It should be changed so that every time a character's name is displayed onscreen, so is their "preferred" title, however, if you mouseover them ( probably as long as one is in a non-combat situation (elgibile for free health regen) ), you get to see _all_ of their titles. This play players can notice that another is a a grandmaster cartographer of 2 continents, a level 2 skill hunter, a protector of a continent, a gladiator, and a hero all at the same time. Which I think says more than just, say, "Kind of a Big Deal".

Master Sword Keeper
I wont lose my Protector of Cantha Title will I? It took me ages to get that...
Covah
No sword keeper you won't. This whole thread is about changing the skill hunter title to what the protector titles are: a title for each campaign.

I think you should get a title for having EVERY skill and elite skill in the game on ONE character.

I think that if you make this change, you should revamp the KOABD title track completely. Make KOABD number 3 on the list with 15 maxed titles, and add a new title for level 1 (5 titles) and number 2 (10 titles). Because even now, KOABD is not a bid deal.

I realize that I am weighing in long after the topic has been discussed, scrutinized and more than likely decided upon by A-Net but I just can't read this thread and NOT comment...
I have the Elite Skill Hunter Title (5), as well as Protector of Tyria, Cantha AND Elona. I am well on my way to Having the 100% map titles for all three campaigns as well and personally speaking, I think the idea of making the skill titles "campaign specific" is just fine. I did not see anything in Gaile's statement that makes me believe I will need to go out and capture all these skills for a 2nd time, so I can't quite understand why there has been so much fuss made of this possibility. Furthermore, I would like to state that not only should there be more tiers for the max title track, there needs to be an emote for tiers, just as there is for ranked players in HA. We PVE'rs put in just as much, and in many cases more, time working on our characters and I feel that emotes for those of us that choose to pursue the max title track is a reasonable request. There are many excellent PVE players that truly do not get the recognition that they deserve. We are able to display a title. I have far more than 1 title track currently going and I am proud of each and every one of them. Ranked HA players have the ability to show, say, a drunkard title AND display an emoted deer, tiger, what have you. This is unfair. I worked hard on my characters, payed my money for the game the same as the HA player I mentioned and what do I get?
Second Class Treatment.
Titles that are afterthoughts.
For players that completed all three campaigns w/ bonuses and masters ranks, Cleared the maps of three Gigantic areas while fighting off hordes of mobs, capped every elite skill in all three expansions, we get to display ONE title.
For Players that only need one version of the game and one method of play?
*cough* IWAY *cough cough*
A fantastic emote that can proudly be displayed wherever they go, all the while displaying their drunkard or wisdom title that they purchased after buying gold on the net.
Make the titles campaign specific, internationalize the titles, add tiers to the max title track, do whatever you think will add fun and enjoyment to the game. But A-Net, please... start taking the PVE players a little more seriously.
Thank You.

Well as an Expert Skill Hunter(4) I would be severly pissed if they took away my Title that I spent almost 235k to get. It took me months of getting that gold, months of leveling up to get the skill points needed to buy Cap Sigs, and hours of hunting down bosses. Please don't take it away unless you plan to refund me all the gold and skill points I spent. If they do revamp it, I better get credit for every Elite I have captured.

So this topic is 4 months old. The result of the poll is very clear on what the community want. When can we expect a change in the skill hunter title track ?
LucidSnake
I agree w/ everything in the original post.
I like the idea of campaign based AND international based titles.
I'd also like to see more account based titles w/ skills. Soon I will have every elite and regular skill in the game with my 10 PvE chars... and will have nothing to show for it.

So... with the announcement of GW:EN being the final campaign for GW, won't this title finally get a max? Assuming they add another 90 elites in GW:EN, that will make the total number of elites permanent throughout the entire game, since no other campaigns will be added.
I'm all for the changes to make them campaign-specific, but this is just something I thought of that might raise some extra discussion on this.
Now I'm just wondering when this is going to finally be implemented. I could have sworn I read something about the changes were expected to take place during the month of January. Anyone else remember something like that?

this may sound selfish, but I've been working long and hard to get my KoBD title without skill title maxed out, so now i'd rather keep thing as they are and KoBD less accessible to reward those who'd been busting their balls to get it.

Don't think of it as losing Expert Skill Hunter, think of it as gaining a whole bunch of points in three MAXABLE Titles.
Flavious Maximus
I have to say that at first, i was in favor of new titles. The current method of allowing for a future update meant that the max would never be reached. Given that Eye of the North is supposedly the final update to the currrent version of GW, means that the max title can now be achieved. Given that, I would be in favor of either decision. The seperate titles are nice for people who don't own all the campaigns, but makes getting KoBD easier for those who do. Keep in mind however, that the drunkard and sweet tooth titles can be purchased with enough gold, and coupled with the 3 mapping and 3 protector titles makes KoBD well within most players capability to get.
Onarik Amrak
I don't understand the whiners who want to keep it the way it is. They are not losing a single thing. They will still have their precious elite skills and instead of having just 1 title that cannot be maxed you have 3 maxables and an international title. Where's the problem? Are you so attached to those 3 words?
beanerman_99
I guess I am attached to 'those three words' because of the fact that it is just one title. To me, it seems like its more important, like a greater achievement to have it as one title and its much more unique.
Take the mappers title tracks for example. Each campaign has it own explorer title. So you got people with 80% Tyria or 90% Elona and its seems EVERYONe has this title. Its so common that it doesn't mean much of anything. Would it not be more special if you had ONE title for mapping and you had to have a lot more than 80% of each country before you could display it? Would it mean more to you if you spent time wall hugging to get those out of the way places? It would set you apart from the rest of the herd.
Thats the way I feel about the Skill Hunter Title. It means that I have all the chapters, I have obviously seen many places, taken down many bosses....It just seems more special to me.
So if they lump them all together...what is really going to set me apart from someone who has ONE chapter and has only capped those Elites? A Tryian Skill Hunter will be no more "special" than a Canthan Skill Hunter.
Does that make sense to you? I have always felt that titles should be something special that you worked hard to get. Not just something that everyone can get with little time and effort.

Sure Explorer and Trailblazer are everywhere. But if there was an internationl cartography title, how many people would have that? Same thing applies for skill hunter. Right now, you probably see people with 1st and 2nd tier titles. Not all that many people have "max". So in essence an international skill hunter title would be harder to get and possibly rarer.

I guess I don't really think about the titles in terms of maxxing them all out. I am not overly concerned about Kind Of A Big Deal, but I can see where some people would be. I guess I'm more choosy about which titles I pursue and which ones I ignore completely. I go for the titles that are enjoyable for me to work on or have some purpose other than showing off. Treasure Hunter and Wisdom are good for the bonus in salvaging. Lightbringer for the added affects against the demons. Skill hunter for the challenge of it all. To each his own I guess
My main concern would be that Anet just start a new system and I would loose all my time and gold getting the Elites I have. Hopefully if they do change it, I will be given credit for the skills I have capped.
Enix
If you are going to keep the International angle, I think it would benifit those who dont have all three chapters. I would like to see the low tier consist of aquiring all the skills for a profession (like if you cap all the warrior skills, regular and elite for one chapter, you get some little title).
[p.s. and off topic - Link fastcasting to energy use and rechage for spells to make mesmers useful in PvE - kind of like expertise for skills]

I believe the delay has to do with Anet's finalizing plans to move away from chapter system and onto GW2. We may someday be able to 'max' the original skill hunter title. If we get GW:EttN and cap all elites perhaps Anet will simply make that maxed. I don't really care about having a title or 3 titles personally, but I'd just like some sense of completion (I'm kind of anal retentive once I decide to do something).
Skill hunting is my game, with all elites and 5 professions all known plus many of the last 3 I'm well on the way to ALL skills known on my ranger. Now when I finally get there, I won't need no steenkin title but It's nice to get some little cupie doll prizes for our insanity neh?

I would most certainly want to see this title track possible to max out. Whether it is one title track or seperate title tracks I dont really mind. But concidering Master Skill Hunter is 380 elites at the moment and GW:EN is reported to only have 100 new skills either a change to the title track is needed or Master will be the max with 89 of the 100 new skills in GW:EN being elites.
Would like some updated info from Gaile regarding this post.

1) Is there any update on this topic ? It was started at the beginning of November 06. Now in few days it will be April 07. It is 5 months without any news from Gaile.
2) I very strongly agree with person who wrote about second class titles for PVE for doing a lot and nice emote for one title in PvP. ANet should understand that there is a LOT of people who are not fans of PvP
3) I'm also troubled by news about next expansion. Only 100 new skills ? Surely they won't do 90% of them elites. So my title will stay unmaxed.
