[Dev Poll] Guild Wars Titles
Verliebt
I would like to see campaign specific skill hunter titles only if the current one would be kept.
My idea would be that we will get lets say Tyrian Skill Hunter for all the tyrian elites and the international title would be the current skill hunter title, which is international anyway now.
So with the 3 current chapters we would have 3 max titles and one international that counts all the elite skills captured, like the skill hunter title does now.
With 3 new max titles, I dont think anyone would want an international max title, and if so will be case i think that the current names for the Skill Hunter title track would be nice to keep for the future international one.
Plus the way it is now, the skill hunter title track uses similar names as the treasure hunter title track, and if you look at the max level for treasure hunter you will see that the skill hunter title is not far from that max level.

The idea is a nice one - making everyone feel special in their own way - but I've got a concern.
Where do repeated elite skills factor into this title? That is, skills that you see on multiple continents - for example, it takes forever to get to "Elemental Attunement" in Tyria, but you can cap it in a heartbeat at what I consider to be the very beginning of Guild Wars: Nightfall (what a jip! ). Would a skill like this count for your Tyrian Skill Hunter title regardless of where you capped it because it's a Tyrian-based elite, or would it be added to the title based on what continent you captured it in?
I don't really know about this one. It's nice to make everyone happy and to fit us all in so that we don't feel left out - especially if we don't have all of the chapters of the game - but after working so hard to gain the current level of skill hunter (elite skill hunter ftw!), I think that adding "International" and campaign-specific titles would cheapen it to no end.
"International Skill Hunter" is somewhere along the lines of "International Man of Mystery" on the scale of a title I'd take seriously. Maybe it's just the word choice - international doesn't really make sense, since I never really refer to Tyria, Elona, etc. as a nation, given all the different groups within them - it would be like calling Asia a nation, despite the fact that on the continent there are many different nations. I've always known Elona, Tyria, Cantha to be continents more than nations (with the exception, perhaps, of Cantha).
There are MANY other issues that are much more important to be addressed in the three current chapters - and the upcoming fourth, I'm sure - than the renaming of these skill titles for the purpose of causing immense, but short-lived joy among certain folks

if an elite skill is cappable on all 3 continents then its classed as a core elite skill, not a campaign specific one surely.

I'm just a bit confused on this because when I think "core" I think Guild Wars: Prophecies. So I'm unsure how a core elite would be approached on a non-core continent, especially considering that some individuals only have access to one Guild Wars installment which may not be Prophecies (eg. Factions, or Nightfall).
Beyond this, I do still stand under the banner of "this sounds fairly hokey," not necessarily in the breaking up of the skill hunter title for each individual continent, but in the "I'm dressing like an international skill hunter for Halloween!!" sort of way - international is more than a mouthful of whiz cheese.
lennymon
Core does not equal prophesies, core equals core which by definition is common to all chapters. Just because Prophecies only had the core classes obviously doesn't make all of it's skills core. Just because a core skill is easier to get in one chapter than another is irrelevant to whether or not the skill hunter title for any chapter <can> be completed from within a given chapter which is the entire point of this whole thing - that you can't complete the thing.
I really don't think another title for core skill hunter is at all 'useful', I also don't see having to recap skills multiple times for different chapters... cuz well thats just ridiculous. For what it's worth I have 291 elites 'capped' on my title track many of which were gotten well prior to titles existing, its just that I can't help myself...I need completion. I'm not sure how to best actually implement this change, and obviously neither is A-net but I think it's safe to assume it won't ruin the game for everyone.

Like some who have replied sooner, I dont like the idea of changing the title track if it involves forcing me to recap all the elites. The best idea ive red thus far is adding the Tyria, Elona, and Cantha maxable tracks, but keeping the nonmaxable title track of Skill Hunter like it is. I personally enjoy showing off my level 5hehe

In your case, you would get max for Tyria, Cantha and Elona. And you would open an "International" Skill Hunter title track, with level 3 in it, maybe level 4 if they count all the Core Elite skills as a level.
Mylon
I want to keep my current (international) skill hunter title. It's about the only PvE title that I really care to show off. The other titles, however, would be nice as I only have one KoaBD point so far, and they make it easier to see where I need to work on.
stuntharley
A title tied to all campaigns would be great, and the international one jsut makes it better.

If the skill hunter title changes to what is proposed, it will be the greatest improvement to the title system since the creation of a title system. In my experience I began this game in Tyria skill hunting for the enjoyment of it. With the release of Factions and the title system it seemed like the obvious choice for me having already capped around 60 Tyrian elites for my main character. But as time has passed I have also been trying my hand at KoaBD currently with 4/5 max titles. I still love my skill hunter title, but allowing it to compliment the KoaBD title line would be a vast improvement from our current state. I vehemently await this patch .
MegaMouse
Truly KOFBD doesn't impress me as it is far too easy to get. There are a few titles that do impress me though: 1 Grandmaster Cartographer for any chapter. That one shows your dedication to getting into every spot out there and finding everything. 2 Drunkard title. Any level not so much because it is a gold sink but due to the shear time it take to get the first level. 3 Survivor. Dang got to be one of the hadest to get. There are others but these are at the top of my list. Making the Skill hunter campaign specific will make it more worthwwhile for me because I hardly go after elites. And I say Rank should be Character specific because hten it would be an accomplishment. As fame is now its a joke to me.

Old thread, but I was just thinking about spending gold on getting all of the elites, just for fun. It is somewhat disappointing that max cannot be achieved. I am much in favor of campaign-specific skill hunter titles. Or, if this idea has already been scrapped, I would be in favor of temporary maxes -- that is, allowing me and others to max out skill hunter until another "expansion." That would allow skill hunters like I will be to have a tangible reward on the way to kind of a big deal.
Commander Ryker
It's been over 2 months since this poll was generated and the results are overwhelmingly in favor of chapter specific titles. So, my question is, when is this going to be implemented?
brave bern
DO it already!!!!! How hard can it be - we want it plz do it!
Sid Doog
Yes good ? i thought it was supposed to be done with the last big update but i guess not, just wish Gail would respond to her own thread and tell us if it is going to happen.
Bryant Again
Well, hopefully soon. And since they're working on titles, maybe we'll finally get Spearmarshall??? Sorry I can't stop whining about it.

I voted for option 1.

Most people with KoaBD have done grandmasters to get it... like me. I did grandmaster cartographer for each chapter and protecter for each chapter

I thought this was suposed to happen in January? Anyone know if it is still happening?

I just found this topic, so here is my opinion:
1) Spliting Skill Hunter is good. It might be a challenge, because of the cores elite skills. But I like it anyway.
2) Max title track emotes: Again that would be awesome. It doesn't have to be like Hero track, but something that would make pople visible (slightly glowing armor, wings, halo, etc)
3) I really like the idea that titles are now giving you a bit of advantage (Lightbringer or Wisdom). More needed !
4) I'd like to see an option to combine titles (kind of matrix of checkboxes) that would result in complex titles. Example Someone with Lightbringer r3, Drunkard r1 and All 3 Grandmaster Cartographer titles when checking those boxes would get "Slightly Tipsy, Glowing Globetroter" (of course more serious).
5) I don't agree with people that says titles don't matter. They say it, because they didn't spend hours achieving them. The more dificult, the more proud I am to have such title.
6) Finally, I would like to see other means to display titles (not just text under the character). Things like armor ornaments, special cape trims, or even ability to paint those areas of armor that are normally not-paintable would be great.
Those are MY PERSONAL ideas, and no one have to agree or disagree with them.

I also have all 291 elites and would be very disappointed if it will be split.
I have spent ours of walking/searching and capping to gain this titel and I am proud every time I see it or some-one congrats me with it.
I think that it is not really a good and fantastic idea to split the titel in favour of the Kind of Big Deal titel because I think that people who want to have the Kind of Big Deal titel will not going to capp, because it is just far more easier to gain the titel by exploring and to max out the missions.
So why split up, to favour the Big Deal titel if people are not likely to use it.
For me it is a callenge to gain this further with this titel because it can't be maxed and with every new campaign it will give me and others the opportunity to get everything out of my character and to explore and see much of the world.
I also don't see why you will split it because players don't have all campaigns. You allways made celebrations on a new campaing which couldn't be held in the old campaign(s) so people would need to buy that new campaign to join that celebration. You even ignored Factions with Wintersday. So why now split this titel in favour of those who don't have a campaign.
When people don't buy a campaign then it is there own choice and they also decide to not be able to get the other elite. So in my opinion makes no sense splitting the titel just because people don't have all campaigns. It would injure players, who got all campaings and who spend ours of capping and walking to get the titel, more then it would favour players with only 1 or 2 campaings.

For all those with 291 Elites capped, this title track would continue but just be referred to your International Skill Hunter title track.
The individual continents would have their own Skill Hunter title tracks that can be maxed out within one continent.
Why would there be any opposition to this? Those with KoaBD would be that much closer to PKM.

I've just started the hunt for all the elites, and after reading over this idea my initial thoughts were, do it do it do it.

3 protector + 3 cartographer + 3 skill hunter + 1 "difficult" title.

In all honesty though I see no problem in this, infact it does not make sense to have the skill titles merged in the first place to begin with. Everything else was campaign specific so why this? Was it just easier to do and overlooked?

Just make another level to the KoABD title track and split the skill hunter titles, then it's all good.

the point is just that, the '+1 skill hunter' part of your equation cannot be acchieved, and it gets under alot of people's collars. Even if they made the skill hunter track -temporarily max attainable- I'd personally be happy.

1) It is more fair to people who only have 1 campaign. A level 1 skill hunter title won't be to impressive, but to a new player who worked hard to get all the caps in the only campaign they own, it would give them something they could be proud of.
2) It doesn't take away from the prestige of your title or hard work. If anything the international title, the one that would show that you maxed it out across all available campaigns, would be just as equal in importance as the current title you have now. Both would mean that you have all the caps. The only difference is now you would be a lot closer to KOABD or PKM.
3) It seems like every other title is split into campaign, why should this one be any different. For instance imagine how mad people would be if they had all 3 grand master cartographer titles, then ANET decided to just make it 1 big title like the skill hunter... they would start rioting! They worked hard for their 3 titles and they deserve the right to show it off. As someone who has been capping like crazy to max out this title soon hopefully, I too want to be recognized for my hard work. I think I deserve it and I think anyone else who has this title maxed deserves it just as much.
I do have a question for ANET though... they announced that this update would take place sometime in January... well its Febraury and I still haven't seen the changes yet. I know they're probably busy with the HA modifications and everything, but hopefully they will update this asap. With over 80% of the people voting in support of the changes, it is clear who's oppinion the majority belongs to. Hopefully Guild Wars will listen to the masses, as it is us who compose more of their profits, then the very few minority that would whine about it if they didn't get their way.
Fallen Hunter
I very much like this idea. I just have one question, which I believe has been asked before but I didn't see an answer to it:
How do core elites factor into this
Will they count for all three titles? I'm capping only elonian elites at the moment in anticipation for this change, but I have also capped quite a few core elites which are in elona. I want to know if these will count towards elonian skill hunter...

Of course, you could always have it so that it counts for wherever you've capped it...meaning cap it three times (one in each continent) to get credit...that's also a possibility.
Fallen Hunter
I was thinking more along the lines that it would count for all three titles at once, but that could be true as well.

I'm all in favor of changing the title, HOWEVER, I think that something everyone has overlooked (though I haven't taken the time to read all the replies) is that in Nightfall there are Assassin and Ritualist captures. Can Nightfall-only characters even get these classes as secondaries?
If yes then fine, but if NO, then maybe some revision needs to be done there, too.

Probably what will happen is that you only have to cap core classes and the 2 campaign classes in their respective campaign. The other elites would count towards the international title.

lol this title is so horrible. I think that perhaps they can be.. cut? Honestly can someone check to see if they can unlock the secondary Assasin and Ritualist professions through without owning Factions?

Make it campaign specific.
