So good its cheating! (Limitless energy, constant damage, and fortress defense!)
Lordhelmos
Alright, if your having problems with PVE heres a nice build that pretty much makes everything, including gates of madness, a cakewalk. This build was inspired by the "holdway" FoTM currently ruling the halls. Here we go:
Acolye Jin or Margrid
R/P ~Barrage Commander~
Gear: Longbow, 15^50 with +30 health, 20/20 sundering. (Currently using the Uhiwi's Shortbow to keep her in shout range ~suggested by buzzerman~)
Command: 9
Marks: 15 (sup marks)
Exp: 9 (minor exp)
Wilderness: 9 (minor wild)
Barrage [E]
Distracting Shot
"Go for the Eyes!"
"Stand you Ground!"
Favorable Winds
Whirling Defense
Troll Unguent
Rez
Talk about a good ranger build... R/P is insane with the current paragon skills. You have constant DPS with barrage raining down an insane amount of critical hits, constant armor from stand your ground, excellent defense with whirling, a good interrupt, fast arrows, and troll. What else could you ask for? But wait it gets better....
Morgahn
P/W ~Energizer Battery~
Gear: Command Shield (20% -5 dmg, +30), Perf Spear (Currently using the Darksong and Shagu's Anthem)
Tactics: 0!!!
Command: 9 (minor command)
Motivation: 15 (sup motivation)
Spear Mastery: 9 (minor spear)
Leadership: 10 (minor leadership)
Flurry (or any IAS/adrenal gain skill, this can be an optional spear attack like wild throw also)
"Go for the Eyes!"
"Watch yourself!"
Song of Restoration {E}
Energizing Finale
Aria of Zeal
Leader's Comfort
Signet of Return
Ok this build is so broken. With energizing finale on and watch yourself ending every 5 seconds, along with GftE being spammed by Morgahn AND Jin you will be drowning in energy. 3 energy gain on every attack plus all the party attacks have +57% critical (including ALL the barrage arrows). With Zealous Aria and Song of restoration your monks will be swimming in energy. The party will constant have Wy!, Stand your ground, and gfte on.... this makes everyone in the party a 90 armor tank at all times. Best part is all these buffs also dump energy into the party when they end.
Tahlkora or Dunkoro
Mo/Me~RC Prot Monk~
Gear: Kephket's Refuge (Cheap and effective)
Prot: 16 (Sup Prot)
Divine Fav: 10 (Minor)
Inspiration: 9
Guardian
Reversal of Fortune
Prot Spirit
Restore Conditions {E}
Aegis
Inspired/Revealed Hex
Channeling (or E mgmt skill of your choice, Drain Ench or whatever)
Rez Chant
Why an RC prot? Because the computer is damn good at playing one. Instant removal of conditions, and prots mesh well with the paragon skills, especially Aegis. With these three heros and another very bored monk, (who will probaby be doing nothing since the party defenses will be sucking damage into a black hole) you can pretty much get through anything. I like using an RC prot for this, but a blighter or Zb monk works fine too. Whatever monk you prefer, even WoH works.
*****
With alll three of these heros running, your party becomes a tanking fortress that hits criticals on almost every attack and cant withstand even the harshest aggro. Try it out, its so easy it feels like cheating....
Watch Yourself + Aegis + + Stand Your Ground + Energizing Finale + Aria of Zeal + Song of Restoration + Go For the Eyes x2 = Everyone is a tank that hits criticals, heals with attack, and casts spells for free. You will not die easily with this build.

Energizing Finale is an insane e.management skill if used on your monks. The only problem is that it targets only 1 ally.. otherwise it would be imbalanced.
For my paragon's elite I might choose "It's Just a Flesh wound" or Cautery Signet for nasty condtion removal. My monks run a HB/EL build that works insanely well (180 heal for 5 energy and half second casting time anyone?).
Dervishes will be flooded with energy because of RoF triggering mysticism every time.
Very interesting buld going there. Will try.

Does the paragon hero put Energizing Finale on the right people? Or do you have to tell him to?

Could you please post the runes you're using in both heroes? I'm having a hard time to figure out the combination
Thanks in advance

I think he uses all minors, but headpiece + superior rune for the highest attribute.

He'll put it on anyone who's low on energy.
@OP: Yeah, GftE spam on top of any of the Finales is massive. But if you're 'swimming' in energy, perhaps you've gone overboard. I'd rather have 'just enough' and do more damage than have limitless E. With lots of shout spamming, Morgahn can be effective with only 8 or 9 in Motivation.
edit: but if you're playing an Ele there's no such thing as too much E, so rock on.

Well I only tried a sample of this build and it worked great. The only problem is that I can't get Song of Restoration since the place to get it is bugged out. I tried going to the Garden but it keeps taking me to the Nightfallen one instead and I've already done Koss's mission.

Priest of Balthazar ftw.
Elite Yakuza Yuki
Hmmmm, I have some issues with my hero using Barrage. She uses it maybe once each time we enter into a battle.
Marvel M
Well I've been stuck trying to do the mission Gate of Madness. Then I read your thread and it connected the dots for me. I was able to get Masters at Gate of Madness and Abbadons Mouth with your lineup/Setup.
I was attempting to do the mission with a MM line up with Olias, and even though I had my 10 minions it just wasn't enough. With your line up everything was a snap since my monks didn't have to worry about healing minions as well as party members.
Kudos/Great Job
Keep it Up...

Your build looks great! I was quite excited to try it out and end my PvE woes with my paragon, but when I checked to see what heroes, it seems I haven't got any of the ranger heroes, and I won't ever be able to. I chose Acolyte Sousuke, making Jin unavailable, and then I chose that dumb necro over Margrid. Disappointing for me then...but I don't suppose any build could be substituted for the R/P slot in your build? I don't care if it's not as good, but just something that will still work a bit.
Marvel M
Hey,
Just a little FYI: You will eventually be able to get all of the heroes...
That's enough of a spoiler =)...
Take Care..
Oh forgot Elite Yakuza is your Archer set to Fight for Aggression. I know currently my Archer is firing it off all the time. I would expect if she was in Guard mode it may be alot less.

Awesome... Really awesome
I tried it as you said GoM would be a walk in the park, and the result is simply terrific ^^
Steamrolled throught it with heros/hench , +10% morale, not a single death and bonus + mission completed so quickly !
Thumbs up for this team build

Take Care.. oh well... thanks lol. Do you have to beat the game to get all of 'em? I just beat Grand Court of Sebelkeh, so I know I'm still quite aways, but if you could say about how many missions I have to complete to get all heroes, that'd be cool too. Thanks

^^ Yes. There are quests at the end of the game.
Now that that's done with- I'm really interested in this. Can skills unlocked with PVP faction (I.E. Energizing Finale, since I don't have a paragon) be used by heroes? That would make it much easier to assemble this.

And I guess you haven't realized this, but your heroes can use any skills you've unlocked. Unlocked is a real game term for stuff you can use on a PvP character. In terms of skills, that means that any skill the little window pops up and the little message in chat that says "You've unlocked ...", whether through skill trainers, caps, skill quests, switching secondaries, getting heroes, Priest of Balthazar, etc.

I have realized that, but I almost never PvP (up until I got bored and am now addicted to the RA) and didn't know if it applied to things unlocked with Balth faction too. Thanks for the clarification.

Very cool.
I'm having a fun time going through the game with this build and my Rit. With the energy gain, I'm quite comfortable using two 25 energy spirits in my spirit lord build.
I'm about to finish the Elona storyline so I'll be rolling a new char soon. Was this build constructed with any specific player class in mind (even though it works great as it is with any class)? Or perhaps can you think of a player class that will synergise well with this build?

To clarify, yes PVP faction can be used to unlock skills for your heros (Any pvp skill you unlock becomes hero usable). Also hero trainers unlock skills for both yourself and your heros. Currently there is no way to get more hero points other than upping your sunspear title so use them wisely.

But I made it universally to benifit all classes. Warriors/Rangers deal heavy with GftE, spellcasters gain E off finale and aria of zeal, and everyone gains defense from Stand Your Ground, and Watch Yourself.

A warrior/paragon will probably work. Try:
Koss or Goren:
Attributes:
Axe: 15 (Sup)
Tactics: 9 (Minor)
Strength: 9 (Minor)
Command: 9
Skills:
Triple Chop {E}
Dismember
Executioner's Strike
(EDIT) Aggressive Refrain ~ suggested by crucifix and works better
"Go for the Eyes!"
"Stand your Ground!"
Healing Signet
Rez
I think this build will synergize well with the rest of the cast if you missed the ranger heros. I left out Wy! on the warrior so that it doesnt overlap with the paragon's Wy! and thus decrease the effectiveness of energizing finale. With triple chop and GftE being double spammed, me thinks that anything around this warrior is liable to be shredded into beef jerky.

and Thanks Again... Glad it worked out for you. I tried using Olias as well, but I found that MMing doesnt work for the gate because the Shadows of Fear are extremely good as stealing corpses to make their own minions. That and also the madness titans spam a powerful mystic sandstorm that is known to wipe all Olia's minions quite fast. After I created this build, I used gate of madness as the litmus test to find out how much punishment it could really take. During the battle, Jin interrupted Shiro's against impossible odds with distracting shot. I bought her a forgotten longbow after that (:
We also hit a triple aggro at one of the portals near the end and survived with no deaths. The only other healer was Kihm, the henchie. Oh yes, you can withstand a whole lot of punishment with this build. I even helped my mesmer friend map dreadnaught's drift using this build and we survived with no DP.

Bah, I cant cap "song of restoration {E}" for this build as the garden is now nightfallen garden (Im currently stuck at GoM) and the boss Toshau Sharpspear doesnt spawn there... Anyone else know if this boss spawns elsewhere?
Francis Crawford
A/R isn't bad for a barrage build that depends on critical hits either. (And if you have Factions you get an Assassin hero.)
Crit Barrage -- Sharpen Daggers ftw.
Or so I've read; I haven't tried it out yet.

I ran into the same exact problem as you.
Solution: You need to find someone who is Pre-Nightfall. They can escort you to the garden. Make sure they are leader of the group.
Tried this technique with someone who finished the game and it didn't work. It has to be Pre-Nightfall.
Take Care..

wrong. i captured it yesterday with my paragon who has completed nightfall. just talk to the gate keeper and he will let you through. you WILL find the boss in the northern west.

Song of Restoration {E}
how do you get this elite skill before defeating abbadon ? do you have anyother skills that can substitute it?

To the OP:
Nice build.. Thanks for posting it. It's quite close to the synergy I've been trying out these days between my Paragon and Gen. Morgahn. So in my case I can let Jin be a real [Barrage/whatever]-Interrupter, while I can add "Incoming" to prevent spikes, even add "They're on Fire!" esp. when we have a Searing Flames ele in the team.
However, in the proposed build (using Jin as a secondary Paragon shouter), regarding the equipment suggested I am wondering if using a longbow on Acolyte Jin doesn't run the risk of leaving [some of the] melee fighters in the party uncovered by her shouts? Essentially I'm suggesting that using a shortbow instead may increase the effectiveness of the proposed build (since Shout range = Spell range = Shortbow range)

What do you mean??? There is no gatekeeper whatsoever at entrance of garden. It is nightfallen as well in the garden, but you dont need a gatekeeper to get in... you just enter thru the portal, like normal.
But again, its nightfallen in the garden, and no such boss is there now

flail and fury are trash, use aggressive refarin instead. if its a singergon, then it will be kept up the entire battle.

However, in the proposed build (using Jin as a secondary Paragon shouter), regarding the equipment suggested I am wondering if using a longbow on Acolyte Jin doesn't run the risk of leaving [some of the] melee fighters in the party uncovered by her shouts? Essentially I'm suggesting that using a shortbow instead may increase the effectiveness of the proposed build (since Shout range = Spell range = Shortbow range) good call, i havent had many problem with jin being out of range but I will switch to uhwili's shortbow to test this out. Ok maybe I need to clear up my original statement. If you have completed Nightfall (End of Game) the garden reverts to normal - Hence you can Cap. However I was referring to a person being in the grey area. This is the area where the garden is Nightfallen and no longer the Green Garden one is use to.
From my understanding and what I have experience is that if your in this grey area and you need to capture: Song of Restoration - Then your stuck. Your stuck because every time you enter the garden the Boss is no longer there since it has been replaced with Nightfallen guys. A work around to this dilema is to get some one who hasn't turned the garden to Nightfallen. They can talk to guard and get you right on in. This is something I needed done for my character who was stuck in the Grey Area. I have now completed the game and the Garden has reverted back so the boss is now there. I attempted to help someone by taking them to the Garden since they were in the Grey area. Unfortunately no matter how we set it up - The garden was always nightfallen for them. That's why I suggest if your in the Grey Area: Ask for someone to take you that is Pre-Nightfallen... Best of Luck... Extreme Measures

I gave Jin Urgoz flatbow, which is as close as you can get to what you posted.. It has everything, 20/20 +15%dmg, +30hp.... its just not a long bow, rather a flat bow..
