What will Ch 4 Professions be?
Avarre
I would not shed a tear if the next chapter started an entirely new storyline, added no new professions, and spent the time to properly balance and tweak the current ones.

Most suggestions people make can be formed from two existing classes. Secondary professions ftw.

the only desent professions are the core, the rest is just for show if u ask me

Please, no, more, professions... Just add content and a shit load of new skills. It would feel like a new profession

My speculations are :
1 attacking class : Martial Artist.
1 caster class : Nature Wizard.
The martial artist would be the first bare hand attacking class. Attribute lines could be different sort of martial arts, for example karate mastery, judo mastery, or something like that.
Nature Wizard would be a caster that has control over fauna and flora. Attributes could be Animal Magic (summon an animal to fight with you, or use a spell like hawk eye to increase critical hit rate on an ally for instance), Flora Magic ( raise different kinds of plants from the ground to fight, buff or heal) and mineral magic (use the surrounding soil as weapon, effects depending on the area you're in)

The more professions the add, the more balance problems they add.
If they make new races it will be one of these: Charr, Tengu, Dwarf, or Centaur.
Classes they will probably never have: Druid, Rogue, Barbarian, Berserker, Martial Artist (other hand to hand fighter). All have been done by other games.

One new class will have no skills at all, wear no armor nor wield any weapons; it will be called the "anti-nerfer" as Anet will not be able to nerf it.
The second class will be a "creature" with an Enrage skill and have a dervish like attack, be dual wielding, so they have a two hit AoE attack path... In PvP this means all opposing foes will be insta dropped as if they were playing in DoA against level 28 mobs.
These two classes will be added for the sole reason of stopping the "X needs nerfing" threads on all forums; as they show both sides of over powered and underpowered classes in both PvP and PvE.
To play either class one must work for hours on hours to make them "work" or find a way to "adapt" to them.
/end sarcasm
True post; I'm hoping for a martial artist and a rogue like character... the two which are likely to never show up though. heh
However, I would be happy if GW finally moved to making PvE less like a game of tag and more like a struggle where enemies fought back vs running around. Something just not quite right about seeing a 50 foot tall rock monster worrying about a little pig tailed monk. Instead it should be sending each and everything in it's path flying back with standard attacks (knock backs), knocking the wind out of them (dazed) and stomping them into the ground (knock downs)... and those should be it's natural attacks, as in not skill based.

I like and always love to see new profession and not stuck with core profession
I know the problem that might happen, dont need to remind me
And would love more if cross chapter account able to create the new profession in the older chapter ^^ (assassin, ritualist, dervish, paragon in pre-searing ascalon )
New profession for chapter 4 I'm wishing for 2 type caster, one of them dedicated to be another healer profession other than monk
(maybe musician profession using harp, flute, etc to be another healer other than monk. Note: check concept class)
My view only: (this will not related to any other ppl point of view, I only want to make it like this, completely personal)
W w/hammer ------------ Dervish
W w/sword -------------- Assasin
R w/shortbow ------------ Paragon
N w/minion -------------- Ritualist w/spirit
E ------------------------
Me -----------------------
Mo w/dedicated healer ----

I hope the next chapter has a shape shifter or a mimic that can learn monster skills like in Final Fantasy. The Mimic would be cool there are a lot of great monster skills out there. In FF you had to capture the skills and after a while you collected up some very interesting and powerful skills. This would be hard for PvP players only because they would have to PvE to gain those skills, but since they already have to do that it really shouldn't be such a big deal. A shape shifter like the Druid in Diablo II would be fun I loved the werewolf. A berserker who can wield two weapons would be fun as well, but we kind of already have that in the Assassin.

Skills similar to pet (skill will not functioning if you not summon the bird) skills which will modify the attack effect of the elemental bird
Damage and health similar to elder pet
HP degen like minion
Only 1 same type of elemental bird can be summoned at one time (like golem or spirit)
Can get effect like pet skills
Summoned skill recharge 60s, causing exhaustion
there will be 4 type elemental bird (fire, wind, water, earth)
there will be 2 elite unique bird (dark/shadow, holy)
bird dmg type = elemental dmg depend on their type
etc xD

I was messing around with my guild leader, theorizing about the environment of the next Guild Wars - which we ultimately entitled "Guild Wars: The Next Frontier," and labeled as a space game :P - when I thought about the existing classes and what could possibly be added.
Currently we've got: Elementalist, Necro, Mesmer, Monk, Warrior, Ranger, Assassin, Ritualist, Dervish, Paragon.
I like the idea that someone else mentioned earlier on about not actually adding any new classes, but tweaking some older ones. How this is going to fit into each of the new classes will depend entirely on where the game is placed, from a PvE perspective, but not so much when you think on PvP, so it could work out nicely anyway.
But, if I were to suggest the addition of a new class, I'd probably have to say something along the lines of a shapeshifter myself, as another person also mentioned earlier. I've only played this class in a few games in the past, but it's always been fun. Rangers performed nature rituals. Ritualists summoned and controlled spirits. Why couldn't there be another class dedicated to the manipulation of spiritual energy into their own form/the form they desired? Seems interesting enough, and putting that into PvP would be nifty - sorta' something along the lines of the Dervish "forms," but utilizing more natural beings/creatures/beasties.
All in all, I do think I'd enjoy a new game with no new classes, though. There are already more than enough of them. Just add some tweaks and adjustments to certain existing professions and it will nearly *be* as though we were playing new character types, when in fact we would just be getting used to a more complex metagame.

A Shapeshifter would be great. I really enjoyed the Diablo II druids for that. The graphics would probably take a fair amount of work, but the coolness factor.... If they followed the standard pattern you might have 3 or 4 shape-lines and the profession line giving an overall bonus to shapes and energy management. I would expect it to be a primarily melee class. Maybe run it like the monk's maintained enchantments for each shape?
I can understand the many comments "no new professions", but while I would hope to bring my developed characters over to new lands, I also really like developing characters from scratch, and, given the ability to change secondary class so easily, don't see the point in having more than one in each profession. So, when I start on Nightfall (I have been holding off so someone will have a decent Holiday gift for me) I will be playing out a Dervish and a Paragon, and bringing over all the others. I would like to be able to do the same for the next supplement. I don't PVP much, but I would think it would also keep that side interesting (maybe too much so?).
I don't know about another summoning class - elementals would be a nice summons, but I think they would go better as new elites for Elementalists.
The Assassin is pretty much THE martial artist class already. A Rogue would be an idea, but I'm really not seeing how to implement it. Some form of invisibility maybe? With some trapping and positional bonuses for attacks?

I would hope that we won't see another low armored melee fighter, although every expansion has had a soft melee coupled with a support unit so far, that doesn't mean the trend has to continue. I would enjoy seeing a melee unit that utilized hand to hand combat techniques, and so that they wouldn't be unbalanced in that they wouldn't have any weapons you could have them wield various styles of martial arts. For example you would find books, that when wielded wouldn't be held but instead altered the animations and damage amount/type for your hand to hand combat. They could be the first and perhaps only class with a holy or dark damage weapon modifier (yes, I realize I ask both for no low armor melee class, and suggest a melee class that would likely have to be low armor, I'm odd like that... Of course their primary attribute could add to their defense, probably not AL, but instead some sort of inheirent blocking or evasion of melee attacks).
I think that perhaps we shall see some sort of class with a reverence for the Seer of Truth, although I have no clue as to what sort of class it would be.

1) Paladin
Heavy Defense + Stuns + Smite Attacks + Heals + low damage. Would make a lot of people happy. Make Wammos their very own class, run in not die, but not do anything.
2) Bard
Mez, lull (PvE), Charm, Group Runspeed, Group Attack Speed, Group E regen + dual wield. Great support, decent damage, very low defesne. Kind of like a mes + paragon.

new elementlist type- crystalmancer, crystalmancy with spells affecting in the area, possibly adding in Ice magic and something else with like the expertise skill for spells
new type would be the druid type thing. with target/party heals scattered throughout all the areas.
or for the mesmer type having it affect party members for the most part instead of enemies.

I'm with the school of thought that hopes/believes there wont be any new professions in chapter 4.
Age
I would say 10 is enough and they could throw in new faces, hair and skin tones and have them for all the next chapters.I would hope if I do that we still see our remainig heros stay in chapter 4.

If you wanted THAT kind of summoner to be balanced, you'd have to make it so that they can only have one summon up at a time (Summon takes one skill slot) and if you want the summon to use a skill, it'd also be skills on your slots.
It'd be like pets, but different. You'd be able to equip two summons, and when you summon one, the other dies, like flesh golems. You could have a healing summon, tanking summon, etc.
That's the only thing I can think of that would make a summoner balanced. That aside...
No new classes please.
NeHoMaR
The new class will be The Clown
Example skill: Deadly Joke: You joke 1..3 times, and do 222..333 damage per joke, if you are interrupted you die instantly.

I would like to see some new skills for specific profession combinations.
Such as,
W/Mo has Censure strike (with strength and smiting attitude both)
W/E has thunder crush (with hammer and air magic attitude both)
I think it will provide us more play style with current 10 professions.
Finally, no more new professions plz...

I would also add that I would like to see Guild Wars go "back to the basics", if you will, and make the next chapter structured more like the first (and the best IMHO) chapter.
I would like to see a "PRE" area where lower levels are seperated from the higher level players with no access to their storage.
I would like to level up at a less ridiculously fast pace. The level pace in Tyria suits me fine.
I would like to see the same type of creativity in settings/scenery that NG offers, especially when you get to the Realm of Torment. The who place just seems to be.....alive and eerie.
I would like the world to seem bigger too. Tyria was great, Cantha seems small, Elona is between the two.
I would like to see some changes made to the storage. I don't know how hard it would be to make them bigger, but a way to store your armor sets, Holiday items, Masks, etc would be great.

There's been alot of talk about a shapeshifter profession from people for a while and i have to admit that this would be something that would be pretty cool. The other thing is that with nightfall they finally have introduced code that changes your appearance dramatically while using skills(ie Avatars) or in missions(ie corsair garb in blacktide den) which would make the possiblities of shapeshifting more likely
Part of me would prefer to not get new professions but to add greater versatility to the original professions instead. That being said, i do feel that the new professions are a big part of how GW works and they're still a long way off from having an exhaustive list of professions compared to other RPGs so we'll realistically get more prefessions for at least the next few chapters.
My only request with shapeshifting would be for it to not be tied to a primary atribute like the avatar skills. I really wish i could give avatar of melandru to my ranger(especally since it looks so fitting with my Urgoz's longbow) but if we have an animal shapeshifter then i'd want to add it even more(so i could match my pet ) so no primary form skills this time!!!(i'm fully confident that Anet will be able to ensure that it's still balanced)

I can't se at all how one would not want more proffesions, they're great, and add more twists, builds, and unexpected things in games. I have a few ideas of new profession
A suport caster, who does almost all buffing spells, them being long lasting or very powerful. Probably warshipping Lyssa, dwayna or grenth.
The dual sword wielder would kick arse =D, Balthazar of course, maybe Melandru.
Now my idea of an offensive caster. A combination of WoWs shadow priest, and a smiting monk. They're almost pure offensive caster like the elementalist, however they do dark and holy dmage together.
A shapeshifter would also be great. A druid! Yeah! A druid!
Oh! Perhaps 2 different kinds of druis (I can't think of an idea for a name of the caster druid) But the caster kind of druid would do earth damage, and be all about natures wrath. The meele druid would be a hybrid of casting, and of meeleeing, though I can't think of a weapon they'd typically use.
If you go with those last few ideas, then you could have the continent be almost pure jungle, yeah!

Well then since the mentle and teh shining blade has not settle down (prohecy only end on the defeat of lich no explanination to the mantle and shinging blade) and also we can have a jungle theme where a shaman can be a sort of professtion a Necro(curse is mainly there) mix meser (degen)
and since we have 2 kind of 3 type of supporter(monk para & rit) and 3 melee (assassin warrioir deverish) 3 different kind of caster (meser necro ele(yeah ele) What we need is one more warrior and one brand new idea of a professtion and races, pretend u are a tengu, going back to faction and have other tengu calling u human or u are a charr and other charr are killin u in asclon or...............(so many other stuff that typer got tired)

more importantly then new classes... Good armor!! stop giving the hench and heros the good armor!!! Especially with Nightfall having one that looks semi good, i demand NEW MONK ARMOR along with the others.
bebe
Guns!
Shadow
Paladin would.. make me very happy, but I'd have to agree with the no new classes movement. Save some time on the conceptualizing of those new classes, their attributes, roles in the game, physical appearance, etc, and make up the extra time gained in making a better product altogether.
floppinghog
it doesn't matter if you or me or everyone doesn't want new professions.... we are still getting them. plain and simple, its part of their business model.
i, unlike others, do want new professions along with the other points asked - more skills for all classes.
i wanna see better made armors - stop making low resolution armor/weapons.... who decided on that one anyway... and get rid of that disgusting new light source (in bright areas) in nightfall it even ruins the good armor's with a tarnishing shine.
if it takes a full year to make this happen, then so be it.
maybe thats the way to go and then back to 6 months, because you know maybe Anet needs a sort of catch up on everything thats been pressing on a regular basis- every 2 years? maybe something like this could keep Anet on top of things and keep making all players happy?

Hand of Ruin
I'm hoping for expansions and improvements on existing classes, and emphasis in improvments. However, this is unlikely and more likely we'll see two more classes that are some combination of existing classes. Anet looks at what will sell more games, and I think new classes gets people excited more than upgrading existing content.

-No new professions
-Giant new scenario/content/pvp/stuff/armors etc
-Adding a way to alter the appearance of existing chars (for that alone i would pay)
-Adding more hairstyles, faces in conjunction with above
-Adding new body models/animations for existing classes (example: not-so-massiv-warrior-look, not-so-bend-over-necro, not-so-thin-assasin etc)
-create-your-own-hero-npc, imagine you could make your own hero with armor and body looks options and name them

Shapeshifter please please please!!! heh
Kool Pajamas
It seems Anet takes their own underused ideas and expands on them. Example shouts. Wars had shouts but it wasnt much. Paragons expanded on that. Spirits/minions. Ritualists expanded somewhat on Nature Rituals of Rangers. Sorta morphed it with Necro minions. Sins were pretty unique for guild wars. I coud see a new profession expanding on sins' "half ranged" spells. Dervish didnt really expand on much and isnt really all that unique except for the avatar morphing. Perhaps there will be a shapeshifter that expands on this idea.
Other possiblity....signets. Anet seems to be adding more signets into the game each chapter. Possibly a class that specializes in signets.

I'd like to see a profession that can use monster skills. But then again, most of the ones in the game are way too powerful for use in pve or pvp...Oh well, just a thought.
