Mallyx how to kill him?
Aphro
Someone killed him or got some ideas how to kill him?
HawkofStorms
Umm... as far as I know, nobody has even reached him yet so....
lulu_at_sin

unienaule

Having all 4 environmental conditions on you during that fight is pretty hax.

We just got owned by Mallyx also.
It's completely insane. Right now we're butting our heads together to come up with a way to kill him.....
He teleports, removes 1 enchants from ALL enemies near him it seems, and disables all skills of enemies near him of an attribute.
He also teleports your teammates to himself, and deals a 500~600 dmg 1-hit-kill blow to them, and does this constantly.
I was the bonder, and my jaw dropped when every single one of my teammates Life Barrier was stripped 2 seconds into the battle, my Blessed signet was disabled, then all my protection spells, for like 20 sec, and saw him mash my teammates 1 at a time.
Both our healers had ALL of their healing skills disabled also.
We couldn't do JACK as he killed us.
Those that kited away got TELEPORTED BACK TO HIM as he 1-hit-killed them.

If he is affected by conditions (Natural Resistance aside) you could try blind and weakness. If he is affected why not add in price of failure and reckless haste to deal constant fast damage to him and lessen damage you're taking?
ubermancer
Degen + Sin teleports?
Racthoh
Non-stop Shelter? (They put Razah there for a reason maybe?)
aohige
Keep in mind you have to go through non-stop onslaught of all the enemies from previous four quests, rushing at a priest you're supposed to protect.
After killing.... I don't know how many, 12 groups? 16? of these monsters, you finally get to face Mallyx.
So we have to come up with build that effectively fights every type of monsters in DoA, as well as Mallyx himself.
Blinds are great, as we can probably have one of the nukers carry it instead... and perhaps go air spike. Degens, on the other hand, would be hard to use in the previous part of the quest.
Ritualist... well, I guess you could take out a nuker and put a Rit, as Shelter was the first thing that crossed my mind against Mallyx.
The problem is getting through the first part, obviously.
1 less firepower, and much harder to effectivly clear the unending supply of mobs.
However, the mobs do seem to wait for the previous mob to be wiped before popping out, so Rt should come in handy.
Now, the problem is, finding an Rt with 4/4 quest finished of course....
I have a guildie Rt who's 2/4, perhaps we should help him complete the rest of the two.
Or, we could simply use Razah

Lots..... and lots.
As far as we can tell, a few Searing flame and Meteor Shower seemed to move his HP bar by like, a fraction.
Next second, it was healed by his insane natural regen.
So he DOES in fact take damage.... but seems to require a huge amount of firepower and lots of time, to take him down.
Without dying, obviously

If they followed the pattern that they used with Kanaxai and Urgoz, then there could a gimmick to make it easier (like Warriors using Recall in Kanaxai and using EoE while killing sprouts in Urgoz).
Maybe try and see if the environment offers any opportunity for a little improvisation.

He is with four spirits, each representing an Enviromental effect.
When you fight Mallyx, you have all four of the negative enviromental effect from the previous four quests.
Most likely, killing these spirits will remove the enviromental effect.
They seem to have rather high amount of HP as our attempt at killing them didn't seem to do much damage.
We were going to try to see if Consume Soul works on these spirits or not, but before we tried, we called it a night.
If anyone tries using Consume Soul on those spirits, please let us know of the result.
Killing these spirits will probably remove the enviromental effect, but the effects weren't nearly as much of a problem as Mallyx himself.
Perhaps not only does killing the spirits remove the effects, but also weaken Mallyx....?
BTW, you're locked up in this area to face him, without much option of "kiting" around to find other options, so trying out diffrent things could prove.... quite difficult.
Dunno if leaving a dead pet outside and using necrotic travel works or not.
When you face him, there's a cutscene movie, and then the gates closes.
I'm willing to bet this cutscene brings back your pet, and puts it in the room

maybe try bringing 2 mesmers with blackout and chain it? I'm just speculating since I don't have NF.
Also for the spirits maybe have the mesmers with unnatural signet?

meh but only a bit:-(

For the spirits I would recommend Unnatural Signet... easy enough to bring as an optional skill without sacrificing an elite spot combined with a continual nuking spree of it... there goes the spirit problem. Would be faster to add in consume soul on a rit though. Where someone said that he can't be affected by conditions earlier... there goes Searing flames usefulness as a skill. Echo Nuker/Warders anyone?... wait... Ward against Harm and ward against elements mixed with greater conflagration... there's your tank an extra +60 armor him.
aohige
Alas, I didn't have his skills targeted.
So far, Mallyx seems to be the biggest bad-a$$ boss ever.
Very fitting to be the boss of the hardest area of all.
Because all the other DoA bossess were a joke compared to the mobs in that area, I'm actually glad he's actually "OMG WTF HAX" level of hardness
Tobias Funke
Maybe an anti-warrior me/n with faintheartedness to slow down his attacks and clumsiness/ineptitude to interrupt them (remember those 2 skill prevent the attack from even happening, not just dealing out damage when the enemy attacks)? Sounds to me like we need to see what happens when a spirit is killed to get a better idea of how to handle this guy.
BTW Afro I'm totally gonna rip off your UI.

Banish Enchantment
All Enchantments are removed from caster's target foe. For each Enchantment removed in this way, one skill is disabled on all foes for 6 seconds.
I see.... so I was the reason why we got owned.
It looks like, bonding.... no, I take that back... using ANY enchantment is fatal.
Well, it looks like bonder is gonna have to cuddle in the corner and do /dance
No fire attunement, no geotank skills, no healer's boon...
DON'T USE ENCHANTS! Even 1 enchants can cost your entire team 8 skills....

Immune to hexes and conditions.... Enchantments disable skils.... he removes stances....
Looks like Razah is perfect for the job, hence why he is so hard to obtain. Also, Paragons using their shouts should negate tons of damage as well.
Looks like Anet really wants to challange our brains this time...

Wards, although eles would probably be crushed like coke cans.
Paragon shouts, first coming to mind "Incoming!" and "Stand Your Ground!". He is immune to hex and condition? A shame, ward against elements + theyre on fire! + mark of rodgort + fire damage = damage negation like crazy.
Hehe, dervishes are so screwed here =)
And for clarification, Gaze of Fury is for destroying the spirits. Non-elite, spell range. And skills that affect binding rituals work on this. Gaze of Fury + Soul Twisting to quickly kill off these pesky enviro-effect spirits?

So I guess you need Spirits, Shouts, and Skills? The Riposte line may be good for the tank. And I suppose the monks should just go Healing.
Yeah, I don't really have much to say. I've only been able to finish city because I cannot absolutely find a group to do any of the other areas =/.

Minion Factory. Dont actually engage Mallyx, just send all the Minions in with Death Nova on them. So brilliant it HAS to work.
Acehigh
Hmmm,so rits and Paragons seem the best choice to help defeat him.I think angelic bond would make a worthy skill in place of bonds, even if very risky.
ramma77
Oh so now you lot NEED paragons and ritualists.
I demand all paragons go on strike for being mostly ignored for the other 4 quests.

Kudos for beating him. Couple of things spring to mind.
I must confess to be a little disapointed that Mallyx himself is just a boss fight. I was kinda hoping for another long elite mission like urgoz/deep with maybe 12 or more people. The description of assualting his fortress gave me visions of battling up stairs, through room of traps and the such like.
It's a shame there's no caster weapons and the fixation with 20/20+30Hp is a little sad. Did any armbraces drop, as they would be the logical reward for beating him? No Armor crafter either?
In any case congrats, and looking forward to more achievements later

Spirit effect of Demonic Miasma.... would have to take it down or else your tank could be taking quite a bit of damage.

Isn't it ironic that Mallyx, who is only a demon, a servant of Abaddon, is much harder to beat than Abaddon himself, his master, a god?
noir0
Thats probably because abadon was still half chained up when we fought him...

And because anet messed up.
