Just for fun...

Here are some computer generated Guild Wars Items and weapons. They will obviously not be entered in the contest, because they are not original, except for the idea of adding gems and ecto to the weapons. They are simply my interpretation and modification of previously existing Guild Wars items. I will not be entering an original item in the contest, as I have some grievances with Anet and PlayNC, but I just wanted to share these images. Please check the original thread to see more pictures and computer animations......

The program I used there was lightwave 3D. Its expensive, complicated, and Im pretty sure not available as a hack and definitely not free. Other programs are Cinema 4D, Maya, Mogs, Strata 3D. They would not be free or hacked and are serious programs. There are other programs such as Bryce 3d, Rhino 3D, and Imagine 3D which might be free somewhere on the net. Student versions are often available for much less money.

Personally I myself would like to see more bulky swords i.e Brute Sword + Tribal Axe. Warriors weapons all look too small in my opinion unless it's a female. Would love to see additions such as "halberds" or "two-handed swords" for upcoming updates. Also better shields found in elona. Factions has the best shields IMO, Elona needs more pretty skins.

well we know that there are no new classes with these weapons now... but actually I kinda like the fact that we arent getting more classes...

I am submitting my entries tonight! I would love to see others entries, but I guess we still have to wait a while...

Just sent my entires. A scythe and a sword. IMO if you want to have a winning chance you need to design something with a strong silhuotte. The details don't matter (you can have the entire Sistine Chaple craved in the hilt, the texture artists will just ignore it).

The basic shape/physcial appearance needs to be interesting and the idea needs to be fresh (eg. a crystalline axe, although looks cool, will suck).

Pirated verison of Maya exists and probably all the other ones too. It's primarly for Animating, be you can make models in it too. They go for like ~ $3000 retail.

Yeah I agree we need nicer staves

I removed the pictures because I didn't read what Gaile posted.

And the NOT winning is just the point...
I would have loved to see all the other designs people had entered in the previous contest that didn't win, instead we only saw 6 winners(obvious).
I for one am interested in other peoples designs, ugly or masterpieces just to see what they come up with.

Maybe next time around people can submit their designs and the top 10 of each kind of weapon(jury picked) can be voted on (poll) to let players actually vote on which weapon of each class finally wins the contest.(Big Maybe that is, but a nice one imo)

Well a dagger is meant for stabbing. An axe is meant for chopping.

Its kind of a reverse Sai design.

The handle shape implements a basic design used by khukri knives, which shows that creating a dagger with a deflected angle of 20 degrees at the blade allows the use to stab with minimum twisting of the wrist.

This allows a punching motion to be used, creating much more force and follow-through and allows blade manipulation to be more intuitive to how the human body is designed.

I love this contest.

This is my failed entry.....it failed because i failed to send it in.
Rather generic in the sword category but i haven't finished it yet.
I envisioned it with some elemental effect coming from the notches in the sides.
