PC Gamer Announces C4 info for next month!

I seriously do not belive in a 100+ level cap. Even if Anet said so, it seems unrealistic to jump from a 20 level cap to 100+.

Holy crap! I WANT MORE INFOS!

Maybe there wont even be levels and everything will be based on attribute points... that would make sense.. plus it's how Guild Wars actulaly is anyway, in reality.

Hey, there,
Interestingly, early key registrations (for the Asura) reveal that the magazine seems to have reached the US Midwest first. We're talking Indiana, Illinois, that area of the country.
Glad to hear that players are getting it, and don't you agree it's a perfectly beautiful feature?

Summary:
They are abandoning the Campaign format because it required them to reinvent GW completely for every chapter, and it began to feel 'bloated' to them. The Expansion, and increased timeframe, allow them to do what they want to with the game, without worrying about new professions, or pre-lvl20 content
BETA for GW2 in 2008
eye of the north
HOLIDAY 2007 RELEASE
40 new armor sets, 150 new skills (including 50 pve only), 10 new heroes
"extend character development beyond level 20" ~James Phinney~
EOTN will supposedly link GW1 and 2
underground complex of tunnels through all three 'continents' present thus far is revealed.
Three acts:
Act1 takes you through 18 underground dungeons to help the dwarves defend against 'the fiery Destroyer', eventually taking you to the Asura and Norns (races)
Act2 has three story arcs ranging from exploring the Norns, to the Charr homeland, to an Asura resistance of the Destroyer
Act3 pits you against the Great Destroyer
Far shiverpeaks are Norn Lands, Charr homeland is north of ascalon, Asurans are near Maguuma, Tyrian catacombs stretch across the entire continent presumably

I'm interested in the expansion pack though.

i can't believe the lvl cap change. 100+? there's gotta be something else to it. like after a certain lvl, lvling doesn't affect pvp or something. otherwise, yes, pvp is dead and gone.
Machinae
Gwen: Fine.
Minipet: Despite my previous thoughts, fine.
New areas: Great.
100+/No level cap: GW is dead. The guild with the highest level players (using levels gained from PvE?!) will win most of the time. PvE would suffer greatly because people would simply choose the highest level players. Even without divine favor bonuses, a non-monk could have 30+ healing prayers and heal better than any monk. ;D
I'm calling bull until anyone else comes up with similar info, or Gaile can divulge something.

lmao Gaile posted in Guru 1 minute before she posted the exact same thing in GWO.
She didn't deny ANY of the information now did she.
P.S. Gaile definitly likes Guru better
Ooo hey hey hey someone in GWO pointe dout taht they COULD just let pvp only be for pvp characters from now on if the level cap IS that ridicolous...

I know that he can't scan the entire article because of the copyright, but is it okay if he can scan just one screenshot of the next GW installment (assuming if there are screenshots in the magazine)?

....So the entire INQ leak is true? Seriously?
Gaile Gray
Hi, guys,
I think that to ease load times and keep the thread on topic, now that the magazine is in a few hands, we might want to move this to a new thread. Whatcha think?

100+ level cap would be sweet. You wouldn't run out of things to do. Sure PvP would be different, but it wouldn't just be 'Buildwars'. You would actually have to work hard to be one of the best PvP players, not just guildwiki a build.
Goldenboy
Gaile, since the article is now out, any chance of clearing up the Level Cap issue BEFORE the press release? If the mag got it wrong, I can see a lot of hate between now and then.
wetsparks
If the level thing is true then maybe they will do what many people on this website have asked for when complaining about the nerfs, completely separate pve and pvp. Your pve characters can level up and do whatever along with skills and you have to make a seperate pvp character to do any pvp stuff. Though I dont understand how alliance battles and aspenwood would work or what they would do for people that have filled all their character slots.
The Ernada
He said "extended character development beyond level 20" I'm sure if he meant increased level cap then he would have said it.
You just got tomahawked

Maybe the no level cap is more of a way to show off than anything. You could stop earning attribute points, yet keep gainin levels to show how well you've done.

Guild Wars 2 Summary
Hundreds of years later, in Tyria... sounds more of a race-reliant struggle.
Predominately open worlds, with Instancing as a secondary feature in some areas (not positive on the interpretation). Hundreds of people in the same area, and choices that the population as a whole change the quest structure. PCG gave an example of choosing to rally against a dragon or not. Those that help, gain loot and xp. If the dragon isnt driven away, another 'quest' may trigger, leaving more options for the population. Very cool idea IMO.
I'll just take the level cap stuff directly - "Events will also offer a way for players of different levels to keep interacting in the persistent world - which is crucial, since right now, ArenaNet is planning a very high [100-plus], or possibly no level cap"
Sidekicks simlar to CoH, allowing powers to seep from a high level character to a friendly lower level char.
'Click to move' will be abandonned in favor of a more freedom-rich control scheme, including 'jumping, swimming, and sliding'
destroyable environments?
no real world limitations to servers. you pick a 'world', but can switch between the realms.
World vs World combat sounds to be a massive scale capture the flag (AB style?) with no minimum or maximum party size. Big-ass raids that can supposedly take place for weeks on end. At the end, the 'world' will be reset, and it will start again it seems.
GvG will still be present, as a more balanced form where everyone is on a level playing field.
Companions: NPC like heros can join you (like a pet it sounds), and dont count towards your party. Not using this feature lets you be mroe powerful.
I think I read somewhere in here that it will be mission-based, but I didn't see it in my quick second-look.
As of now, there will be no monthly fees, and no 'campaigns'... mini-expansions, and expansions are hinted at.
If I think of something else, I will add it... or someone else can :P

Any News on monthly fees? personally I wish to still have some instancing left at the least.. i guess i can get used to the open world.. but monthly fees. Thats all i want to know.

Wow some really cool ideas Anet keep itup!! I love those guys out there, they screw up sometimes(ok a lot :-D) but then they deliver something really cool. I would love to see how that Dragon thing work out and also the No level really has me intrigued. And if they can make the leveling seem like without a grind then I wouldn't mind even 100+. I am glad they aren't sitting on their asses and relaxing. I love the fact that no monthly fees keeps the team on their toes and they cant rest on their laurels like another popular mmorpg we know!!

This part sounds like what Warhammer Online is doing with their quest structure too. If two people are doing two seperate quests, one can effect the other if I'm reading that right? O_o |
