Yep. Exactly the same. I don't play for riches, that's just an added bonus. I enjoy playing the game, not the tiny pieces of data that don't actually mean anything outside of the GW universe. My enjoyment means a lot more than those tiny pieces of data.

It's sad that people base whether or not they'll still play when GW2 comes out on whether or not they'll still have their riches. What's the point in playing a game that all you do is become rich, not really enjoying the game. And if you enjoy doing those things that make you rich, it shouldn't really matter whether or not you get to keep your current wealth, since you'll enjoy getting it back when the new game comes out.

Yes, I would. This is a GAME (yes, G-A-M-E) and is meant for fun. I'm usually poor, since I spend my money on things I want, if I actually saved up that much it would be to buy something.

Ok ok, so you play the game for "enjoyment". We all do, I guess. But what if for some people (like myself, on a small scale ) having these riches is their enjoyment? Having played the game for years since it came out and amassing a huge wealth, I honestly don't see why somebody wouldn't be unhappy that they would lose it all.

I respect your opinion, but because you did say you are usually poor, you cannot truly understand how much these megapixels mean to some people. I don't expect you to, I mean pardon if this is the wrong analogy but it is sort of like a man and a woman giving childbirth, the man cannot know how the woman feels because he has never and will never experience it. (weird analogy i know )

Save reason as above, some people like collecting money and titles, others like doing missions, but the important thing is that everyone has fun playing guild wars.

I have had 1 mill on my account several times before, and wasn't happy with it just sitting there. I had to spend it to be happy. That's why I'm usually under 30k unless I'm saving up, I spend it to enjoy myself.

Ok, I can understand that they'd be unhappy. I admit that, at first, I was kind of unhappy about losing all my titles, but after an hour or so, I realised that a new game that I enjoy playing is much better than anything I have in the older game anyway. I can get titles back. You can get wealth back. But we can't just keep playing the same game, because technology is moving forward at an incredibly fast pace, and eventually the game is going to get stale. And sometimes a fresh start is... well, refreshing. It can completely renew your interest in a game that you may have stopped playing (keep in mind that if GW2 were to happen, it would be three years from now at least).

As I said before, if you enjoy the actual collecting of wealth and titles, it shouldn't matter that you have to start again, since you'll enjoy building your new characters up to the point your old ones were at.

Mainly, the point I'm trying to make is that lots and lots of people are just scared of losing their wealth because of a possible future. We can't see the future. Hell, we don't even know if this future GW2 is even in the design phase yet. We can guarantee that someone has had some ideas about it, but there may not be anything solid. Also, lots can happen between now and then, which will change your perspective completely. Keep an open mind, instead of just saying "I'm gonna quit because I won't be able to keep my characters"

What I find interesting is that people are worried about having to "start over" in 2009/2010 if a new GW2 comes out. That is over 2 years away!! Guild Wars hasn't even been out for two years. That means you have not even hit the halfway point in the amount of time you can play the current version before the next one comes out. I don't know about you, but 4-5 years seems like a pretty reasonable amount of time to play one game. I love this game but seriously, you think in another 2 years you won't be ready/excited for something new? Hell, most people don't even keep a car for more than 4-5 years, or the same job for that matter.

Ditto. I would love to have that brand new feeling (remembers the days when I first got 1k, it was exhilerating.)

If they start a subscription though, I would be upset. Just because I am against paying for MMOs every month (without option). The only other thing that would turn me off (note not ZOMG I QUIT UNLESS ANET LISTENZORS TO ONLY ME!!!111!!0), is if they do away with the M:TG style skill balancing, as I find it one of the coolest things. I have spent hours when suddenly I get a new idea and play around with runes and stats and skills. Sometimes they are horrible, sometimes they rock, like my Fiery Melendru Ranger build. If they ditched that (heavily doubtful), I would be upset.

NOTE: I am not saying that if they made more or less skill slots that I would be dissapointed, but I would be if the way the skills work now was entirely dismissed. Innovation is cool though, maybe even more complex skill bars would help in feel .

If they started charging a monthly fee, most of the community would be gone, so I doubt they would. It would be suicide.

One of the huge draws of Guild Wars is the lack of monthly fee. I know a lot of people are drawn to the game because of that fact. It would be a huge mistake for them to introduce one for the next game, and even though I'm sure they won't, I'm another person who simply wouldn't bother playing anymore.

No matter how you try and justify it, I am not going to pay monthly to play anything. It's not even the money issue with me, I'm fine with services like Xbox Live, and I don't even mind micro-transactions and episodic content, but having to pay monthly to play a single game just isn't something I'm ever going to do.

I don't understand this. I agree that if they began charging a monthly fee and the content of this game remained the same then people should jump ship. But the point of the monthly fee would be to improve and expand the game, servers, testing, etc etc. If the changes in content were worthwhile then why would a fee be a big deal?

A lot (if not most) of GW players play because of no monthly fee, they can't afford it and/or don't believe in paying monthly fees for a game.

You betcha. If they went with monthly fees then it goes with the strictest regards, that company should uphold. For instance keep monitoring the servers 24/7, add free bonus content every month, and the expansion packs are free. Otherwise they are just being both lazy and greedy.

This is a totally hypothetical conversation, since I have faith that Anet isn't run by retarded monkeys, and therefore understand that their entire business model is based on having no monthly fee. However, I do have something to add.

I would not play any game that had a monthly fee, and would quit GW if it started. This is not because of the money. I have plenty, and the usual monthly fee would mean little to me. It's because of the pressure.

Last month I had a number of insane work deadlines, and didn't play GW one second the entire month. I didn't have time to play during the Christmas season, either. Then there are the months that I simply don't feel like playing. Know what's wrong with me doing that with GW? Absolutely nothing.

Monthly fees, regardless of how you justify them, means that months you don't play, you're paying for nothing. I don't want to feel like I'm wasting money if I don't want to play a game. I don't want to feel like I have to play a game instead of another one I'd rather play at the moment, because one of them is charging me whether I'm playing it or not.

You may say, "just ignore the pressure". That's great. How long can you do that? One month? Three months? No thanks. I want a game that I can play when I want, how much I want, and not if I don't want. I want a game that I buy, and then control. Not a game that controls me.

No to monthly fees, no matter how much it would mean got "added" to the game.

Like I said, though, this is hypothetical. I'm 100% certain that the whole conversation has nothing to do with GW, now or in the future.

I have to agree with Rhedd... I could pay a monthly fee if I so chose too...the fact of the matter is that if I wanted to do that I would probably play WoW since it is already established P2P MMO...I don't want to feel as if I have to play a game inorder to justify me spending xx a month...not that I can't afford to pay it, its just "wrong" for me to pay for something I don't use...and we have that now with GW...I don't have to pay anything other than the intial fees for the games...and I don't have to play if i don't want to ...now u start talking about paying for the game and paying for the right to play the game...then i would have to play it in some part each and everymonth just to justify paying xx dollars a month for it....

some info were release in russia:
GwEn = last of the GW1 / takes palce in ascalon + info of the enquire / some norns and azura to be seen
GW2= 5 playable race/ dynamic quest / more interaction with the environement /something about being able to encounter other groups? norns are shapechanger

have fun ... and be sure to buy «Игромании» when it is available in your news agent.. to get even more info

Guild Wars Eye of the North, Guild Wars 2.

Guild Wars Eye of the North

Guild Wars 2.

Guild Wars 2.

Guild Wars 2
