"Fresh Guild Wars announced" From the Inquirer!
xiko
gdc started today. I believe on the info from inquirer
Kyuuba
the inquirer isn't a very trustworthy source, they have a lot of new that is way ahead of its time and eventually falls apart the closer it gets to the actual release dates.

lets take a look at time zones
when Gaile got up this morning and saw this garbage the head honchos on the other side of the world were in bed.
do you wake up the big cheese over some internet trash or do you leave them a message to get back to you as soon as they can?
i expect Gaile/Alex to be getting facts to respond with a definite answer from higher ups rather than saying this is complete news to us here at Anet.
what is really scary in that in a few years these instant believers will be able to vote in elections.

I cant believe this thread has been on for over 12 hours and it is 17 pages long and nothing from an official. Looks like they would at least give us something. even if is was a checking to varify the infor or something.

Someone was claiming earlier that the WHOIS info for "Eyeofthenorth.com" doesn't go back to NCSoft or ArenaNet. The funny thing is that the information doesn't really belong to "PrivacyPost.com". It's a protected WHOIS listing.
Meaning that whoever registered it doesn't want anybody to know they own it.
Interesting.

If this is true, i am EXTREMELY happy about the title, i have been wishing that chapter 4 is in a snowy area, i think i will enjoy this game for a long time...definetly until the gw2 beta comes out!

Count me among the skeptics for all the reasons users have listed prior. Still the article was a nice way to revitalize interest -- just as long as its taken, as another poster said, with an iceberg of salt.
Oh, and playable Asurian race? first few times I read that I thought it said Austrian. Haha now that's something I could get behind.

Anyone consider that someone was pulling the reporter's leg on the "details?"
Why would anyone create three new races for an expansion? And the names don't quite ring true. Sylvarians sounds like someone's idea of a racial name for elves. I would think if ANet wanted to give GW playable non-human races, they already have several in the game from which to choose.
And the "massive" 150 skills. Does anyone who actually plays GW think that would be a massive amount of added skills.
Expansion requires already-owned chapter - who would buy a game so they could buy and play the expansion. This would not draw new players to the game.
Lower cost expansion - so ANet would be getting less income. As they have no PtP system, this means they would be doing themselves out of the money and not bring new players to the game which is their main income source.
One expansion, then nothing until GW2 release. And how will ANet pay their overhead and development costs during that time?

yes woo hoo!!!!!! I've had factions and nf for a while now (10 months) and i just bought prophesis! this is awesome!@!@!@!@!@!@!@!@!@
(if it's true)
*edit* if there are new races i think it refered to them for gw2 becasue the expansion will be mostly for lvl 20s so no one would be able to make a new char. unless they were implemented into the other games
*edit* plenty of other games hzve survived for ultiple years without new content (halo 2, that one sci-fi rpg that starts with an A i think)
ok, not the best examples, but i'm sure new content will be added and new accounts will be made. Plus without new games people will have to buy new character slots at 10$ a pop.

Also if you move on with your character to gw2 (you are not in gw1 anymore, I thought you would figure out that for yourself), you can always make a new character in gw1 if you wanne do an uw run with your friends. Just like people make characters in pre now, to always stay there. I don't see the logic to go back when gw2 is out. You wanne progress with that main character. In Baldur's gate, if I remember correctly, one could bring over his character to BG2 but not the weapons, armor or gold. So a fresh start but still with your same character you started with a long time ago and that's the point. The feeling that you still play with the same character you're playing with for years then. A true hero you know. I don't see a problem with the 10 classes, BG did it and even added triple combinations and a few new classes and races too. If they did it 10 years ago, I'm sure the Anet devs can do it now too. How to survive 100 years? Drink from the fountain of youth people, one of the oldest stories in the fantasy world. |
This is just pointing more to the fact that this is all complete hobnobbery. I'm sure ANet would understand that making a sequal so soon would be a bad idea (but that's like 2 years from now. I'll probably be bored by then, but who knows?).
I dunno about the Eye of the North. There *is* a screenshot...but there was also a screenshot of a mini-Lich.

I'm not saying any of this is true, just plausible. If it is made up I don't know whether to be angry or impressed.

And isn't Lineage II using the Unreal engine? That's pretty old, ain't it? And look at how successful it still is.

If the Eye of the North is true... damn its gonna rock for me! I waited for 2 years since the start to push back the charr and see the land they came from and the reasons for invasion.I take it there will be the end to charr-human war at some stage since charr will be selectable race in GW2.^_^ I still want to know how charr females are like, i bet they are so wildly sexy! *drolls* who gonna need human arogant bitches lol.
Oh and btw, i dont think its a good idea posting personal info like that of a NCsofts emploi.

Interesting, but can we trust this? I'm normally not that big a skeptic, but I don't believe it that much. Besides, ANet's plan was to keep updating GW with new chapters to the point where it was pointless in doing so. The community is growing even larger and larger, I see no reason to stop soon. We can't go a year and a quarter without more GW goodness! Then again, I was thinking "these guys are crazy if they plan to release 20 chapters".

Reasons why this MAY not be true....
Gaile has hinted MANY times that she would love a GW chapter located in an arctic region....if she knew that ch4 was wintry/north based, I would think that she would stay away from that topic altogether. Unless of course she really was hinting at the theme.
GW2 is over a year and a half away. I highly doubt that they would announce such specifics as the new races and stuff, SO early.

Race selection was widely asked feature.people wanted it so Anet implemented it.I dont see the problem.Centaur sinn anyone?
And Eye of the North isnt chapter 4 sheesh..... its an expansion used to tie up loose ends, read it again pls.Thats why GW1 is the trilogy.

Many people have asked what lies north of Giant's Basin....perhaps here is our answer.
Eye Of The North as an EXPANSION ONLY sounds very credible, other details, not so sure.
