However, I think we can all agree that Guild Wars is not like most MMORPGs.
Darksun
Charr Warrior
Norn Warrior
Asura Ranger
Sylveri Something
Human Ele
I'm pretty surprised they didn't go with Tengu.

Sai of Winter
I hope they add the Dredge as a playable race. That's what I'll like to play (when not playing my human chars), buckteeth and all :P

Dredge and Dwarves - Likely.
Onarik Amrak
I don't think Dredge and Dwarves would necessarily get along considering how the Stone Summit enslaved them. Sure Deldrimor is a differene faction, but you know. Dredge aren't technically "good", they just... exist. Definately not evil though.

I am going to make an Asura and take them out and get them killed because they are that ugly.
On the serious side I will be getting a Charr Shaman.

...and I think we've all played that game long enough to be starting to get bored of playing as a human. I'm going Charr or Norn, probably. (Charr for obvious reasons, Norn sounds like some sort of centaur or other cool bestial creature) Asuras, no way! They may be the GW equivalent of gnomes, but unless actual ones are nicer-looking than the minipet, forget it. Sylvarians sound like some kind of snooty elven race. Elves are just a bit too close to humans for me, also. |

Hmm... have you noticed that humans + charr + sylvari + norns + asura = 5 races?
If the races are supposed to take sides, then how's it gonna be? We already know charr are bad guys, revenging theyr fallen gods, but what about the others? And won't it get unfair for good guys or bad guys somehow?

My guess is that all of the playable races unite or something and must fight a greater evil of some sort :P

The Destroyer is the Great Destroyer, the enemy of The Great Dwarf. Two Dwarven deities we know very little about, the Great Destroyer is not anything to do (we think) with the Charr.

This is one of my strongest problems with WoW -- the artificial division of the world into two "alliances" who "must" fight each other. And, in WoW, there is no playable neutral faction (I'd love to play a goblin, for example).
I want my character to define their own stance in the world, and not have their "alliances" dictated by race.

Taken straight from the official GW site.
As to the other comment, GW2 follows continuity, if the Charr hate the Titans now will they just suddenly flip flop on that and do the opposite in a 100 years time?
Neriandal Freit
Friends and Enemies of the past would leave one to believe that it is a treaty between the Charr and Human races. Thus, making them temporary allies in Eye of the North, and then a hundred years later strong allies in Guildwars 2.
The Charr likely won't flip flop at first. We are likely to encounter "smart" Charr that will begin to understand what has happened, while at the same time encounter a resistance of the same species (IE: Deldrimor Dwarves Vs. Stone Summit). This again will likely be a treaty sort of thing at first, with negoations and alliances being made from the time of Eye of the North to GW2

I hate to admit it but I would also like to see Centaur Tengu and Dwarf races. I wonder why they chose to not include the Dwarfs in the Shiverpeaks as a playable race.
I would personally love to play a Spear Throwing Centaur Paragon. It would just look so amazingly cool to be running up and begin throwing a spear as a Centaur.

there is no confirmation as to the number of races...the mag says that the posted races are only 'some' of the playable races...
I for one do not want to see dwarves... I hope they become all but extinct in GWEN... the most overdone race in fantasy..
TENGU FTW!

I also agree with claw that Dwarves don't really need to be included. We have the Asura as the underground crafting race, why do we need Dwarves?

I will keep human characters, But I think I will have at least one charr

I'm going to try all the races at least once !
I would also like to see ppl be able to choose name, class, race and what ever skills they want to go with it ! If you want to be a swordsman get a sword and use it( developing XP and opening skills w/ it ). If you want to be a nuker get a book and learn how to use it so.on.so.on ! The biggest problem I see with the new MMOs coming out now is they seem to be trying to micro manage all the char. in the game to get control of the " balance issue "
