Playable Races in Guild Wars 2...
Dessie
I would want at least one of each race, and then i'll see what to do
Elena
A Charr Necromancer wonder what minions we will have by then XD
Animate Skeleton or ghost oooh

Centaurs and dwarves would be the two dumbest races to make playable.
I'd rather have new races that we've yet to see, maybe add another race similar to the Sylvari but opposite in colors (similar to elves vs. dark elves). The idea of opposite elvish races is not new, but having a green side vs. say, a red side would be cool and original.

Yeah green vs red is just soooo much cooler and more original than red vs blue!
Elves vs Elves isn't original, you'd have to really do something way out there on that theme to be "original". "Cool" that's a different story. I have no doubt they can make it cool, but original much less likely.

Honestly, if I understand your opinions, this is one of the most hypocritical posts I've seen in awhile. Lets not use dwarves and centaurs because they are unoriginal and WoW-like (I'm assuming) and instead make Red Sylvari who hate regular Sylvari because its totally original.
Innuendo
I would love to play as a Mursaat.
Voltaire
I'd definately go for Tengu if it was offered, or, in what I think would be an extremely unlikely development, a Mursaat. Aside from that I'd probably stick with a good ol' human at this point.
a ham demon
I'm going to make on of each!
Cataclysm
Heck, we could play as animated bone minions!
Onarik Amrak
Honestly, I think some people just plain don't know what they want.
That's why you get hypocritical, conflicting posts.

ill have a char of each race, but probably more human toons.

Centaurs and Dwarves are lame but Elves vs Dark Elves is cool? Okay then....
Actually in addition to more races, I'm hoping there's more variety to the humans as well. For some reason I've always wanted to play as a Krytan. Who wouldnt want those claw weapons and tattoos?

Kryth
My main will be Human for monument inheritance
2nd is TENGU for sure. God I love Tengu
3rd Charr.
4th (altho I doubt I'll grind a 4th after these 3) is Mursaat if they decide to include em as playable
By the way, there's no PCG where I live, where can I see the pictures of GW2?

I'm gonna be a Norn and a Charr all the way .. Might also test out the others.
Buster
Norn, spiritual half giants shape shifting into a bear, what more do you need to know ?
Onarik Amrak
I'd shape-shift into a bear and hibernate in the back lines.
Giga Strike
my first would be a human monk, then a sylari ranger, then maybe an asura elementalist, maybe even a charr warrior.
clawofcrimson
human... then after i observe the game a bit... ill choose another.
Enchanted Warrior
I want to be an Elf, not the goofy lil tiny ones.
I want to play one like in LOTR.

The description of the Sylvari sounds more sprite-ish than Tolkien's Elves... (young, naive, nature-spirit).
But you could probably make a Legolas clone if you wished!
Onarik Amrak
Asura aren't elves. Not even close.
If you want to play one like in LotR why not play LotR Online (Beta)?
I agree with the people wanting Tengu. They rock! They look great and are quite vicious.

Chewbacca Defense
Dude,
I've been wanting to play Charr. How can I name my character Chewbacca and be human?
I'd love to play a Mesmer Charr wearing that mesmer nighty. oh so damn sexy. LOL.
Tengu would be awesome. Especially if it was a fire ele named KFC.

Obviously when it comes out, I'll be spending at least 4 hours in character creation and then playing the best looking one straight away! But I'm sure that I'll be creating a character in each race to see how they play etc and then decide on how I'll be taking things! It should be good though - I'm looking forward to the amount of variety in GW2!
EDIT: Chewbacca....Ew! The charr in a mesmer nighty is NOT what I wanted to think about :s

Female Charr in general is not something I want to think about....

personally if each different race has different attributes, im thinking auras are gonna be the physically weak - mentally strong, Sylvians - physically and mentally pretty strong, Norns phyiscally strong - entally not, humans - average
I wanna make a Male Asura Necro with dreadlocks...haha
Onarik Amrak
Male Sylvari give a new twist on the term 'fairy boys'...
Maybe you can dress one of those up in your mesmer's nighty.

Sylvari Paragon FTW!

Hopefuly Anet will keep themselves at peace with god and keep GW 2 free online play, in that case Charr sound nice, but will probraly be lacking mental capacity for things like Mesmer or Ritualist (they like the strong, shiny things, like fire magic and big axes ). I haven't read the article as of late...but it seems as if these sylvarians look like my choice, if above human. Of course it all depends on what the ablilities of the character are, in comparison to how they look (who knew I would play a Khajit in Morrowind? Their not wearing boots makes em the best Nightblade in the game! Plus with Glass Armor they don't look THAT bad...). But, it's mostly looks, and how many people play something else (if everyone makes a charr...forget charr!). Forgotten would rock....

I would try out one of each race, but possibly in the order of races I look most forward to...
1) Human (for GW1 sake)
2) Tengu (if available)
3) Charr
4) Forgotten (if available)
5) Centaur (if available)
6) Silvari
7) Asura
8) Norn
I would never play Dwarf if it was available. Ever.
Anet, if you do anything for us in GW2, make Tengu, Centaur, and Forgotten playable races.

Dwarves, likely.

Charr Assassin anyone?
I'm still curious as to how exactly races are going to be implemented.

Onarik Amrak
LoL, Charr Assassin. his claws would be bigger than the daggers he will be holding! I was also wondering, as current Tengu hold their swords upside down, I wonder if that will carry through in GW2 if they're playable.
uberMithosCox
Humans are worthless Charrs Rocks
ManadartheHealer
I would play as Charr, Tengu, or pretty much any hunched-over race :P
Shadow
Charr are the only real interest for me of any of the confirmed races. I'll keep my fingers crossed for the unlikely event that margonites are included as a playable race. /swoon

How cool would it be if there were a Sylvari profession that planted trees? And the trees gave out loads of "fruit"? It would be like an expanded version of the Ritualist's spirits and ashes.
Yeah, I know, at first I was all "NOOO STAY OUT OF MY GAME ELFY MCPRANCYSPARKLE!" But the hippy in me is starting to warm up to them.
God, two years...ANet are sadists, pure and simple.

Now that I know the Asura are basically goblins, oh man, I am so making a goblin!
doinchi
I have no idea what the Sylvari and the Norm are at this point. If anyone could tell me it would be much appreciated. Right now I am going have a Male Warrior and a Asura Monk.
