Oh, does the article say that? See, I haven't read it, yet, can't wait to, though. Well as long as they think they can balance the species attributes, or possibly have them not count in PvP, then it should be alright. That's really the only concern I think people have with races.

You shouldn't really be concerned at the moment since the game engine is not even finished yet, let along the content and specifics.

No, it doesn't say anything about professions at all.

If races are anything more than cosmetic, I probably won't bother with GW2. It'll all depend on what happens at release, since Betas will be absolutely nothing like the finished product, GW1 taught us that lesson.

Read the yellow boxes, nothing said about a change in primary/secondary system, READ IT OVER AND OVER UNTIL YOU GET IT>.>

Shapeshifting sounds like the same as Dervish avatar forms. But I'm gonna try Norns just for the sake of their size. And maybe they've got inherent resistances to elements or something.

Don't you find Asuras scary? And puny? haha

I really hate this race-thingy. This was one of the reasons why I chose GW over WoW.

Now they are coupling different stats and traits with races. I hope at least classes will be race-invariant.

I would LOVE to play a centaur, especially if their thing is speed. Zhed looks so cool running, especially through Cantha.

Hmm, I played humans for such a long time in GW, and I'll still play them there for at least two years, after all, so I don't think I'll make a human character in GW2 (unless I get bored or something, or if their "race specific attributes" turn out to work really well with my playing style or whatever.).
Sylvari and Charr look most interesting to me (I already see people complaining about "oh no, please no elves!", but the Sylvari seem more like spirits of nature than tolkien rip-offs), but the Norns interest me as well..
And if there'll be more playable races than what we've seen so far... maybe a centaur? But Sylvari all the way. <3

I have a character called Wammo Hunter. I can see I'm going to have to have a new one called Chammo Hunter in GW:2. Charr Wammos...lol

Anyway, would I play another race...? Outlook looks bleak on that one. I'm not against there being other races or other people playing them but I think it has to be Human ftw.

Various races make classes/class concepts more appealing and give you flexibility in creating your char. I don't know why you would want humans only? "Realism"? A less bizzare environment than WoW?

I can create black caucasian chars already (Tyria), why would a new race worsen this weirdness?

My character(s) will be just human in Guild Wars 2. Probably wouldn't like to play another race, but having the choice is nice though.

NORN SMASH HUMANS, RRRR. I am going to maul so many people.

Think there'll be any encouragement for racial conflicts? Any incentive for single-race guilds? I'm not saying force these things, DAoC/WoW/WAR PvP is dull, tired, poorly conceived and restricting to the point of frustration, but it could be cool and interesting if done carefully and with good gameplay before superficial balance in mind.

For those who are only playing as humans, why? Not that I'm against it, but the options are there. Arent you going to at least try out the other races?

My primary character definately will be human, just because I want her history to carry over to GW2. Don't know about other characters though. I'd might try playing as a Charr, I suppose they will get some nifty armor there

When you're a Charr-Ele you're free to use "lava font" without anyone ever shouting at you for that utter noobishness.

If the expansion packs are related to continents, we can thus assume that Cenataurs will come out with Elona and Tengus will come out with Cantha.

While there are Centaurs in Tyria, Zhed's Veldrunner race seems more viable for customizability.

Of course, we have no idea how the continents will look in the future (GW:EN could trigger a world searing? or something like how Orr disappeared).

Those are tips for how the devs play GW1, not GW2, my astute observer.

The only thing mentioned about classes is they want them to be more "solo capable" so you can play by yourself without an entourage of henchmen. I'd speculate that's important to make forming groups in explorable areas viable.
