art-wh0re ( ärt-hôr) n. A person who fanatically collects artwork from other artists, whether by commissioning, art trades, gift art, or by other means. The person usually has a particular character which their commissioned artwork usually focuses on. From the latin term Artous Collectus Compellious.

Welcome to The Official Guru Art-Wh0re Club! In short, this is a place for art enthusiasts to hang out, show off their latest commissioned artwork, and also share links to their favorite shops! This is also to encourage more people to get involved in the art community. Please take a look around, read the rules, and feel free to jump into the conversation.

Guidelines
1. No flaming. We're all here because of a common interest so I don't forsee this being much of a problem. There's always one random flamer though... in such a case, please don't lower yourself to their level. Any arguments that may arise between members should be taken to PMs.
2. No spam. This includes all the regular spamy stuff, but also bumping. There really isn't a reason to bump. Members, please bookmark the guild and check in frequently!
3. Members only? Well, not exactly...non-members are free to post the occasional message, but please keep it to a minimum. Otherwise, what's the point of joining if anyone could post?
4. Use links when appropriate. If you're posting a pic or showing off your newest commission, please refrain from posting the whole picture and instead leave a link if the image is larger then 600 pixels wide. Posting excessively wide images stretches out the screen and annoys us [and the mods].
5. There is no number 5.
6. Thumbnails. Please, when posting new art in this thread, use thumbnail images when/if possible. Here is how to make a thumbnail out of a Photobucket image, for those of us who don't like Imageshack:

Membership Requirements
So you want to join the club? Anyone meeting the following requirements will be admitted free of charge.

1. Must have more than 5 commissions* under your belt. Does not have to be of a single character. Images that are simply recolored or have only a small edit do not count as separate images.
2. Must have commissions in a public gallery. What good are 300 pics if others can't view them? If you don't have a web page gallery, an easy and free alternative is setting up a photobucket account! As long as your photobucket account isn't password protected, it acts very much like a gallery. If you can't leave your photobucket un-passworded, please consider making a web page gallery at a site like Angelfire, Geocities, or FreeWebs.

*For simplicity's sake, I use the term 'commissions' to represent all artwork by other artists. This includes not only actual commissions, but also art received as gifts or through trades, ect., basically any artwork done for you by another person.

Haha, oh man I can just imagine us in our classy/Vabbian armors just walking around a gallery going "oh yes, very well done" in a snooty voice. xD

Anyway I am applying for Art "Enthusiaist" with a couple I got from a few sites. My gallery album is listed In this convienent link.

First batch of art is from my soverign home page www.shinraonline.com, at the Art 101 subforum.
My first image is one of my assassin done by the local art god Deovi-sempai. Normally her art costs $90 but I caught a free request off her in a promotion she did in order to get some practice done:

Now we go to the local denizens of Guildwars Guru. With each lucky infusion of cash comes another piece of art for me and another pleased artist.
This piece is from Mistical Miss, a darling little artist who captures the true reason for Jeff Highwind being an archer.

Next is a group from Egnki or as I call him Eggy. For a guy who does sketches, he captures the essence of a character very well even with my crappy descriptions.

The third artist is a batch of four done by Ravensong. Though at times my hightened vocabulary confuses him (and everyone around me apparently), he was able to do absolutly stunning penwork to bring out the best aspects of my characters.

Right now I have one more piece in pending from Ravensong and one request in quota by Noanoa, who I am really hoping to see. I also inquired Egnki about if he plans to do any more CG work in the future. Hopefully there will be more artists out there that can continue my lust for more of the culture of art.

My application form is somewhat tenuous, because one of the items isn't finished yet, but I'm poor! So yeah, I can't afford the same sort of volume as the rest of ya, but I try

I'd love to join once I get all my commissions...I've just recently gotten into this commission stuff, so all of mine are in progress atm...I have ordered four from Ravensong, one from Lokii (might order another as well), one from GWsketchies, one from Torikae, and one from Malice...I think that's it. I figure these will be done in the next couple of weeks. I am also making a drawing for Unlucky Slayer of his mesmer, I just keep getting artists block :/ But he'll have another on his list soon Umm, yeah, so I hope to be a future member of your club
