The Chestrunners Thread
Alien Bobster
Hello dear ladies and gentlemen! (Stole that from somewhere...)
I was thinking of making a thread for chestrunning builds since there has been several requests on the forum lately. If you want to post here please post in this form.
Please add if you got builds for Hard Mode, I'll add a [H] if it's for Hard Mode.

After you post i'll add it here. I'll keep to the places that gives Tressure Hunter title, which means where keys cost 600g+

There's something funny about triple posting a thread you hype as unique

You can do Luth Conservatory FF runs and grab the chests as well. I was doing this solo in less than 5 minutes before NF came out.
Kurzick Keys are 600gp I think
Drops are decent...the rare Gothic drops, alot of Amber crap, and the infamously hard to sell Marble Hammers. Personally I would merch anything that's not worth more than 5k or salvage it for mods. I've gotten my share of Gothic Duals, singles, Gothic Swords, & Gothic Defenders.
The build I used was all Proph+Factions skills. Could probablly do better with the new NF skills. Here was the build I used though:
[skill]"Charge!"[/skill][skill]Sprint[/skill][skill]Healing Signet[/skill][skill]Purge Conditions[/skill][skill]Contemplation of Purity[/skill][skill]Holy Veil[/skill][skill]Endure Pain[/skill]
16 Tactics 13 Str is what I used but it really doesn't matter much.
Last skill slot was optional. If running with a group I would do a rez sig. Obviously this build could be tweaked with the nice new skills in NF. Charging Strike & Mending touch come to mind right away, and perhaps some others as well. The key part to this build was the Holy Veil + CoP combo which would remove 2 hexes and one condition (usually used when you get the Dream guys' hexes on you which is crazy degen + "cripple" hex).
Very profitible if you consider they are high end chests with the possibility of good drops and you get XP, Faction, and gold to boot.
Edit: Try this bar if you got all three chapters:
[skill]Charging Strike[/skill][skill]Signet of Stamina[/skill][skill]Healing Signet[/skill][skill]Mending Touch[/skill][skill]Contemplation of Purity[/skill][skill]Holy Veil[/skill][skill]Endure Pain[/skill]
I would say work Lion's Comfort in there too but since it's an adrenaline skill I'd prob shy away from using it.
I haven't even bothered getting my warrior through NF yet so suggestions are appreciated...

GYALA HATCHERY CHEST RUNNING
I love to use W/A with Shadow form because you can open chest inside of big group with any trouble.
I get 3-5 chest on run and its pretty easy + you can get the cool looking Jade swords.
If you see a chest in group of nasty monsters use Shadow of Haste in safe distance from the group. Right before you aggro the group use Shadow Form.
When you open the chest and pick the weapon hit Sprint and your safe outside of the group. IMPORTENT: Dont forget to wait for SF to end and heal yourself up because it happens that you sprint in a group with 5s SF on you.
For using SF to go throu the groups use Deadly Paradox-->Shadow Form--->Sprint.
You dont need to worry much about Outcasts and Naga.
Dont leet Creeping Carp to touch you because Expunge Enchantments will end your SF and leave you with 50hp if that happens use Endure Pain and Signet of Stamina.
For equipment I use Totem axe, Sunreach Shield, Glad armor and 1+2 Strentgh helm.
Have good fun and pls no spell checks

thank you 2-4 Chests per fun from what I remember. Just goto the Conservatory and get in a faction farming group and that should help you learn that part of it. The chests are pretty much in the same spots as the points you have to run by to complete the FF quest.
With these new NF skills it should be even easier than when I was doing it. And like I said before I was doing it in less than 5 minutes per run.

NOTE: This is an old build. Some of my newer CR builds run it alot better, but i love copy+paste and this build works fine.
RING OF FIRE CHEST RUNNING:
ASIxlxaQcff8UD85KcmD
Image
Armor:
Armor with +AL v fire damage.
Major vigor, Minor WS, Minor Expertise. Either WS or EXP mask.
Yellow Dots/circles: Known chest spawns.
Blue Circles/dots: Mursaat Chest Spawns (drop mursaat items/garments)
Red line: Path to take. First | is the cutscene. Second | is where the run ends.
HOW TO RUN IT:
Bring henchies and heros.
If you see a chest (hold alt to see chests as much as you can during the run), read the next paragraph. If not, skip the next paragraph.
So you see a mursaat chest at the first seal, eh? Hit troll ungent, then balanced stance (make sure your out of the seals energy drain). As SOON as you get hit by mind shock, hit Escape. Open the chest, grab your drop, and get the hell out of there (continue along the path)
Note the light blue dot on the map, here is where you MUST hug the wall to the left and make your way around the seal. DO NOT aggro the seal and the jade. If you do you will lose most of you henchies and maybe yourself. Heal if you need to, then continue on the run (holding alt), keeping a look out for any chests.
Fun part. Head for the lava, before you go through it, hit troll ungent and once thats cast hit dodge. Flag the henchies as far past the seal as you can. Run through the lava, making sure not to get body blocked by the ettins. Hopefully you have henchies to take the main dmg from the seal, if so, run your way and hurry to that cutscene. Once you skip cutscene, hit healing spring to bring everyone up to full health. Wait for some regen for the monks.
Should you be lacking henchies when you reach the lava, Hit troll ungent and get in a spot where you don't aggro any ettins from either side. Wait for the seal to start engaging a group of the ettins and charge in. Use escape and when that runs out (hopefully past seal) hit dodge.
Continuing on. Should there be a chest around those 2 ether seals, start down the hill, (not to the point of mursaat aggro), flag henchies to the chest while using troll ungent and then hit escape. This chest is called the suicide chest for a reason, its hard to survive. This has net me the best drop rate of mursaat hammers and bows, though.
Should there not be a chest, just continue along the path. Keep troll ungent up when you need to, and always have a "dodging stance" up (stance that has a % to block attack). Escape, Whirling, Dryders, Dodge. The lava spitters are easy to get through.
Once you reach the fire imps, if you see no chests, resign or just map back and repeat. If you do see a chest, flag henchies in if there are any alive (not likely). Hit troll ungent, escape, then right before you open the chest hit dryders to help with fire dmg.
NOTE: This is an old build. Some of my newer CR builds run it alot better, but i love copy+paste and this build works fine.

Have you guys tried running in Hard Mode? The drops are amazing. So far all gold with either +5 energy or 15^50 or Staff with 20/20 or 20/10 inherent mods. I also found a lot of runes and an Elite Necromancer Tome. (all in Prophecies and Factions, haven't tried Nightfall yet)
White_Chaos
tried running but I have hard time breaking aggro
onerabbit
i quickly tried out hardmode, ogt a req11 plagurborn shield and purple outcast boots -_-

Drops have been good for me too, but I'm doing it while I'm farming LB in mirror of lyss. I tried running, but apparently in HM most foes have running skills, and aggro just follows. What build/place are you using?
Mistical miss
Do the maguuma enemies have higher lvl now aswell?? If so... perhaps run tribal axes chestruns? :P

I've been using Henchies and flagging them into mobs with chests.
My build is:

I advise running in areas without a lot of Hexes. (You can use this build pretty much anywhere)

Wow...I must really suck at Chest Running as I can't get any runs done now in Hard Mode
krypt1200
There is one key to HM chest running. Shadow form. You take WAYYY too much damage to be running a normal build most of the times. Think along the lines of total damage evasion, and negation. I'm using my sin to run ice floe. Some of my drops so far.
HM:
req9 gold ebon mursaat hammer(no inherent dmg mod..sux)
perf illusion staff
Elite Monk Tome
Monk Tome
...thats the best for hm
for regular shiverpeak key chestruns in the ice floe
sup vigor
shiverpeak keys in witmans folly
+30 axe grip

I remember a 55monk running build that I used awhile aog in faction for NQ
I'll see if I have the template.
It will need to be re-worked for hard mode but I think the idea is sound.

Heres the build Im using with success mostly everywhere..
W/A
12 shadow arts, everything else u can change around tactics/strength
Shadow form, deaths charge, dark escape, heart of shadow, sprint, endure pain, heal sig, and defensive stance.
Take henchies/heroes for aggro, this build works for most places and really hard to reach chests.
Enjoy Kids

Do you flag heroes, hench into mobs or just have them run behind you?
Gonna try again. Got 12 lockpicks to break lol.

no I have them run with me in order to just pass the parts where there are no chests. Once I find a chest I flag them away and shadowform/deaths charge myself to chest location and open it. Its suicidal but drops have been good for me so far.
kumarshah
Ah, ok. Thanks.

This is a old guide that I wrote but it still works like a charm. You can use a different build, but use the same tatics.
A "FoW Chest Run" is basically when you take a warrior or ranger and run all around FoW and opening Chests.

Instead of me explaining every part, ill show the route of the path.
Legend:
The narrow blue line indicates the path you take.
The narrow yellow path is the tricky parts.
The red stars indicates the resting points.
The red line indicates the parts that is unpredicatable. You can die here.
The see through green line is the path you take when you finish the run.
Part 1.The first yellow part, You first have to go past 1 Mesmer and 2 Elementalist. There no threat, Just sprint past them, and heal a bit. After that can be a real pain with the energy denial, slowing down ect. So if you want to go the safe way, you can wait fro the group to there original formation, and you can sneak on the right of them. Sure this can take a while, but its your saftest bet.
Part 2.This part can be tricky because of the 3 intersecting aggros. And sometimes, theres traps from the burial rangers. Best, safest bet is to wait for the aggros to brake up.OR you can run right through the aggro, first cast sprint, then when you get slowed down, use smite hex. From that point you use charge and disaplin stance, then when you have enough energy use endure pain.
Part 3. This part can be the hardest part, or the easiest part, I depends on the spawn and timing. Theres going to be 3 aggros before you see miko the ghost. the first aggro is something like 2 storm riders, and 1 hydra, No threat, just continue running, not using sprint. When you aggro a group of 3 skales, use sprint, by now you should have massive degen. but continue. There is a large aggro just forward of the skales.Because the skales are followining you, there is noo time to wait for them to leave if there there.
Part 3-A. If you aggro the large group, wait untill the skales and hydras attack you, when there about to attack you use charge and disapline stance. Run forward past Miko, then there should be a huge aggro of abasals, run past them. By now, you should have Endure Pain on you. Run into a place like a cave, with molted lava on the botum. You finished in my opinion, the hardest part of the run.
Part 3-B. If you dont aggro the lage group, just use charge and heal up at Miko. Wait for all the abasals to clear up, because they will trap you if you try going. So you let the abbasals attack the skales and hydras, let them fight. Once there allmost done fighting, run past them and into the cave.
Part 5. This part aint a big threat if you play your cards right. There Is many aggros and alot of pop-up nightmares. This part you just plainly run right to the ranger guy, and heal up. You shouldnt use disaplin stance here.
Part 4. Ahh the spiders. PAIN IN THE ASS.Well running from the ranger, do not use sprint, lure as much shadow armys as u can into the cave. Apon entering the cave theres going to be a few spiders poping up from the celling. Now you use charge and disaplin stance. Run into the second wall as shown below. Take a look at the compass, all you hace to do is touch the wall, and all of the spiders attacks will be missed. After all your health is replenished, use charge and disaplin stance, run all the way down spamming shields up, disaplin stance ect. Towds the end a bunch of spiders , just sprint past them and you finished the run.
Also, any spider farmers here can just join a chest run group and spider farm. I normally do this instead of spending 1k for entrance, also the drops are multiplied by each member, so alot more drops. If something good drops its not reserved for you, wait a bit. The peson definatly wont be able to go back back himself. 8 members, 5x drop ate and chances of shards ect.. Whic can be located here- http://guildwarsguru.com/forum/showthread.php?t=77852
HAPPY Chest Farming!

Whic can be located here- http://guildwarsguru.com/forum/showthread.php?t=77852

you guys have crazy luck... im working on my 4th CR title, and i have been running both normal keys and lockpicks in Drazach Thicket (kurzick) Ice floe (Shiverpeak) Whitmans (shiverpeak) and FOW (obsidian) and i havent gotten ANYTHING good in about 200 keys. It's really depressing I haven't seen a murssatt weapon drop in ice floe for about 4 months... literally. I still have hope though!

Here is a map of Ice Floe. These are all paths you can take. I prefer the red path.
The map is from guildwiki....so:
A-Mursaat Boss Spawns
B-Ice Imp Boss Spawns
C-Nightmare Boss Spawns

Thought I'd bump this for anyone going for the lucky/unlucky title this weekend.
Oh and wheres the best place to run kurzick keys as Ive found 80 of them on a mule.
