im not sure about normal areas but i went into UW solo. Everything is normal, 75% of monsters i killed dropped something. I havnet found an ecto yet though :/

I have not tried UW yet, but I am going to try on normal, I will post a screen of all of my drops after I am done.

Well I just did a solo run at a location, I used to fill up all my bags (or at least close to filling it all up) with the drops but I came home with only 7 items >_>
Then I went with a full henchie party and at the end I had 4 drops <_<

yep i also finished a smite run with similar results. looks like this marks the end of my time with guild wars. spent alot of time and money to get a farming character going over the past week, only to have them kill farming 2 days later. I know i sound like some whiner but this is just bs.

Well this nice update just killer my monk and ritualist... i won't delete them though...And i just started buying 2 15k armors, now when i get enough money for them, it'll be new year's eve.
Though i see this hard mode very exploitable. It won't be long since some farming ideas pop up. Yep SOLO farming is dead, but i don't think that farming as such will die

im lost are you guys doing this in normal or hard? im doing it in hard solo and duo and the drops are bloody ammazing just had 4 golds in one pull! where as norm one every 10 to 20 runs. I think guys you need to do hard mode as the rare drop has gone up in this one so it kind of counters the decrease in qty of players.
For one i love it my drop rate is thru the roof, the store of ecto i have will now double in price and my store of titan gems has just gone from 50k to 100k so i made 700k last night in titan runs lol
Sorry to all those who feel screwed though, i dont think its an end its just donw to uise to find new methods.
I think i remember similar threads saying end of farming when .... they now run from aoe spells ..... they now will change aggro from melee ..... etc etc

Not every casual player in gw farms normal let alone hard mode. this update just made it extremly hard for the casual player to have any chance

True, but this time Anet messes things up in another way. No more loot when we solo farm. The times before we were always able to farm after some while, but just needed other skills etc. This time solo farming isn't profitable anymore (at least in normal), so why will we continue doing it (only reason will be the challenge)?
Have to get the protector titles for my characs now to see if hard mode is any different and if it really drops alot better like you said...

True mate very valid point, its taken a lot of practice to do the farms i do and they aint easy. I agree for the average farmer who just farms for the odd 1-5k hour then this is probably gona suck if they cant come up with a build that will work in hard mode. All of the builds i use will be just the same in hard or easy mode.
Mind you try trapping its silly easy and should still work fine in hard mode.

I tried two known mob farms (Zelnehlun's group and "Battle of Turai's Procession" margonites) in both Normal and Hard mode and the drops are way down AND they really suck in both Normal and Hard modes.

I have always been bitching my roommate that plays WoW. Me and 2 other roommates play GW... but ANet just destroyed GW for me. New items is my main reason to buy GWEN, new areas to find solo builds for, new sets of armor. But now its almost unattainable. If ANet doesnt fix this, I will lose whatever faith remaining in ANet and prove my roommate right, WoW>GW... and I dont think that's what ANet wants...

Just did Margonite farming on Normal and Hard, 4 Henchies/Heroes. I got a total of 6 drops in both during the whole run.

I liked being able to get an ecto or 2 in a few minutes without having to spend all my time looking for 7 other people willing to clear the UnderWorld.
I'm very upset with this new loot system but there's nothing we can do, whining about it won't help anything, nor will "STOP CRYING AND GTFO" posts.

Farming is in no way dead, not by any means.
In 10mins, while having a quick test of hard mode in my lunch break, 3 of us made 100k between us. If farming being dead = 100k in 10mins between 3, then that's fine with me.
There are so many things which are good about this update and I'm looking forward to farming more than ever.

Good news Me and my guildy just duo FOW hard mode with fire ele/bonder, and 95% of drops droped for us. It was ez and we got a cupple of golds and 6 shards. We went 50/50, hope this helps

Just because it makes less money with the old methods doesn't mean solo farming is gone, and frankly, I am unbearably excited to try and trap or Rit my way through GW to get Vanquisher, better drops, more exp for skill points, etc. Hard mode looks to be a blast to try and solo, and from what I hear, people are getting amazing drops.

But I don't think those new age farming builds will be solo...Simply not rewarding. At least not in normal mode. And from what I've heard hard mode has the same loot system, although they drop better items. That's the only chance for solo, otherwise I only see future for groups.
