Answer: Unyielding Aura.

If the Warrior looks like he is about to pull a Leeroy.... remove the enchantment and watch him drop like a fly.... then give him a telling off before using it on him again. Mwahaha!

I would vote all four new classes if i could, but I went with the ritualist. Those classes simply have less fully outlined design which has at some point resulted in the status of the class, or an ability of it, being detrimental to the state of the game.

Also, rits r bad.

Mmmmyea, I'm liking the justification for that.

I went with Warrior. Ok, so there are *some* good ones, but they seem very few and very far between. Over-aggroing and being exceedingly arrogant, to mention but a few traits the Warrior brings. Aside from that I'm not as fond of physical damage dealers as I am with casters. I am more comfortable playing casters and don't get much joy out of slashing something with a sword... One good point, however, is adrenal based skills...but I get those with my paragon...so yea, thumbs down for the Warrior.

Seems like people hate the warrior because of bad rep. That's discrimination!

Are we basing this poll off of experiences with playing alongside the class, or how a class is actually played?

And I too need to give credit to Frojak's direct and awesome post.

Assassins.

They're the only class that is stuck to the "Teleport/Spike"-like builds.

Warriors can use Hammers,Axes, and Sword all with different characteristics,
Rangers can use bows, pets, traps or spirits.
Mesmer's can be pratically anti-anything
Elementalists can be a Hydromancer,Aeromancer,Pyromancer or Geomancer.
Necromancers can use Minions or Hexes,
Monks can be Protective,Healing or Smiting.
Ritualists can be Healers,Spirit Spammers or Channelers.
Paragons can be Chant/Shout/Echo buffers or be primarily versed in spear mastery.
Dervish's have several different forms built around several different builds.

Assassins? They have to be Shadowstep/Spike.They really excel at nothing else.

Oh, I am very certain that Assassins can pull off other roles. Mean roles. Take a good look at the Deadly Arts line. Hell, we already have Caster Assassins with the addition of [skill]Deadly Paradox[/skill] and [skill]Deadly Haste[/skill]. However, Assassins seem as if they can branch off into a different manner of caster. The Deadly Arts line could fit them in among Mesmers and Necromancers by specializing in softening up single targets for the party to kill. Actually, I'm going to have to try this now. I'm inspiring myself.

The assassin has Great defense, but HORRIBLE heals

Theres a reason Mo/A is there, so they can have some Defense

The reason sins are so Glass shotgun as 1 put it because some of these people focus on such high damage output they dont put anything for defense other then feigned neutrality.
In deadly arts sin have debuff skills, shutdown skills, snares, SHameful fear I cant really catagorize...
Damage for running, anti-kit I guess. Ever lasting degen if condition meets (enduring toxin)

Anyways this shouldn't be a sin advetisement thread so I'll just stick to saying those who bash sins just aren't good at it.

Anyways Monk is really f'ed up, double monks seem good in hench groups but in Pugs Double Rits seem better Alternating to keep up the protection spirits while healing

Vyldan, Hm... I've never tried using my assassin as a caster. I'll have to give it a go.

And Theus, while I do indeed have teleport/spiking builds, I do also have tanking builds, interruption builds, one hefty condition laying build and that's not all assassins can do. It seems that most people voting here are voting out of ignorance. If you don't like elementalists simply because you don't like their style of comabt or heck, even clothes, that'd be one thing... but saying their rubbish because of how their played? Thank you for insulting the noobs that can't play their own professions but we don't need help with that.

Quote:

Is warrior any better? I mean about the heals. I seriously don't know, it's not a sarcastic, rhetorical question, it's just that I was always under the impression that assassins had some of the better healing skills. (Monks and Ritualists not included, of course.)

I'll cast my vote for Ritualist; I don't ever want to play one. Too boring.

This thread makes me sad: I love my Paragon. High ranged DPS+deep wound, and permanent IAS with 106 armor? Yes, please. And that is BEFORE I buff the party.

Yeah but it stinks to get rid of them... Plus, there are ones that do good things, not just damage. Like increasing knockdown time, for instance, this is something that is very good with proper team organization. Or spirits that do damage due to how long they've been alive. There's a reason that Ritualist bosses are among the most feared.

Not many people accept rits into their team, like me. They really can't do anything besides make spirits and co-act like a healer, they are OK not great to me they are the worse...if they do increase knockdown time by 1 or 2 seconds is it worth brining that skill for 1 second? No one really uses rits in team organization but i guess they can be good for some occasions.

Depends on what you're trying to do. Ritualists are good interrupters with one of their spirits, for starters.

Well, lately it's either my warrior or monk that is my least favorite. I don't dislike them, but they are my least favorite to play right now.

I think Monk is my least of all though simply because I often like to play without too much thought process or concentration and that doesn't bode well for a monk. You're always on your toes as a monk and playing a stressful and nerve racking character isn't my idea of winding down from a long day of work.

I don't like the warrior class.

I'm going to stay away from the rit argument, I'm getting into groups and I'm just as useful as anyone else in my team, so y'all can think what you like.

Ranger class is the most favourite so far... or should I say, least unfavoured? I bet ranger fans are dancing right now^^

People who don't like playing casters have 5 professions to choose from, people who don't like playing ranged characters have 7 professions to choose from and people who don't like playing melee characters only have 3 professions to choose from. I'm surprised monk isn't higher up on the list. Sure, everyone loves having monks on their team, but it seems like there aren't that many people who like playing monks, they appear to be rarer than any core profession except mesmers.

Great defense? On Assassins? Sure, [wiki]Critical Defenses[/wiki] and [wiki]Flashing Blades[/wiki] are great against physical attacks, but they only have three skills which protect against nuking, [wiki]Dark Escape[/wiki] and [wiki]Feigned Neutrality[/wiki], which only work if they don't attack, and [wiki]Shadow Form[/wiki], which nearly kills them when it ends. I'll probably switch my assassin's secondary to mesmer for the elemental mantras and [wiki]Elemental Resistance[/wiki] for Eye of the North if they don't gain any elemental defense skills.

Mm, while that may be true, especially seeing as assassins have even less armour when you think about how their normal armour works with regards to protecting against physical and elemental damage, you have to remember that assassins don't stand there and get blown up. Against physical users? Good defences. Against elemental users? We've already established that assassins are squishy squashers. They do it faster than anything else, generally.

Paragons are boring as hell. If you play Spear para, you C-Space your enemies to death at range, which is more boring than Warriors who get the bonus of at least having stupidly powerful builds to make things fun. Playing a support para... you spent the entire time casting Anthem of Flame to maintain your echo's.

And yes, i have a Paragon who has completed all 3 campaigns.

I actually quite like Dervish's. Mainly because the Scythe is so overpowered it's ridiculous. Avatar of Lysaa + Dunkoro smiting me up is nothing short of brilliant If you don't believe me OgGjkyqDLPM3m7AWALuLvx3gCA. Get Dunkoro to use Strength of Honour and Judges Insight. Go to Abaddons Mouth and just go nuts ^^ Only profession i've cleared the entire starting section with almost before the Chimera wore off in 1 maddened rampage. So much fun

My favorite replies in this thread are the people who say that warrior is easy to learn but they can't do any damage with them. Pure gold.

My vote went to the Assassin simply for the teleport skills. Arenanet took a nice and structured front, middle, and backline playstyle and raped it all to hell when they gave melee characters the ability to bypass defenses and hit the backline directly.

It's a bit of a tossup between the Paragon and Dervish. I dislike the Dervish the most. Reason: So many dervishes with the words "death" "grim" "reaper" etc in the name. I had a dervish, she had 15k armor, I dyed it black... I then realized how lame/corny that was. I then also realized how many dervishes dyed their armor black. She got deleted (this was after I finished NF with her). I didn't enyou playing the class at all.

The paragon animation where you do [skill]anthem of flame[/skill] looks cool. That's the only reason the Dervish got my vote, but yea..."cheerleader" got it right on the button

Seriously I know they are necessary and all but I find playing them extremely boring, their builds are always so straightforward and dont involve any conditions at all, just simple non stop damage
My second vote would go to paragon, they arent as usefull and fun as I thought they would be

Hmmm...Assassin for me lads. And btw, dervish being least fave? Corny? err no.
Dervish is my main character, love the profession, no black armour at all actually. I'm usually a caster, and i played ele for months before nightfall came out. Dervish is the only playable melee class (bar ranger) for me.

Assassin, don't like them. Don't have any particular reason either, but i think its the zap in zap out side of them. Hit a few times then run away sortof tactic that most assassins tend to use. Its put me off them bigtime.
